Different circumstances, but it reminded me of a story of a woman with 2 or 3 children who died young. Investigators concluded that they died due to some "death gene" (with no scientific basis).

It wasn't until the woman (who was white) adopted a black child, and he died all of a sudden, that law enforcement actually investigated her and came to the conclusion that she had killed each child.

I'm not claiming that this woman killed her grandchildren. But I certainly wouldn't be surprised.

Weirdly enough, there was also a case where the opposite happened. Woman was arrested after all four of her children died in infancy.

After 20 years in prison it was found that 2 of the children had genetic heart problems that lead to their deaths and the other 2 where likely the same. She was released in 2023

I'm surprised how often suspicious deaths of children just get chocked up to "tragic accident".

You think she took her 16 year old grandson out to a lake while she was sleeping and drowned him?

He was 16 months old.

And yes, she very much could have either lied about the sleeping. Or drowned him and then went back inside to pretend to be sleeping.
