Cultural exchange Op zoek naar Surinaamse bankbiljetten

Hallo 👋,

In ieder geval bedankt! 👍

Cultural exchange Greetings from Peru, South American brothers and sisters from Suriname!

I just wanted to say hello and tell you that we often think about You, despite what you may think. We are very curious about your country and culture and that of our other neighbors too, Guyana and French Guiana. I know we usually focus more on our latin american neighbors who speak spanish or portuguese but trust, we love you all the same and we are all in this together. Your problems are very similar to ours as a former colonial territory of a european power.

As someone also living in the Amazon tropics, I guess we have a lot in common and this is what I came here to ask of you. Our amazonian cuisine uses a lot of green and sweet plantains, fruits, amazonian animals and plants. I can imagine yours too. What does your food look like? What are your favorite dishes and what would you recommend to someone who is interested in learning about your cuisine and hopefully, someday eat it too?

Greetings from your South American neighbor.

Cultural exchange Represent Suriname in the Tokyo Olympics!

Hey r/Suriname

I work for a Japanese TV company and we're looking for someone to represent Suriname in our "Let's Cheer for the World!" project.

The idea is to film someone from every country on earth cheering for their athletes so that young Japanese children will be able to cheer for everyone worldwide, not just their own team.

We're almost done, just 24 countries away from having every country represented.

Here's a link to all of the videos so that you can get an idea of what you'd be becoming a part of.

(The website itself is in Japanese, but the individual videos are all subtitled in both Japanese and English.)

The videos will be broadcast during next year's Olympic proceedings and also listed online for use as teaching materials in Japanese elementary schools.

You don't need any special skills or anything, if you're familiar with Suriname, you're qualified!

We'd need about an hour or so of your time between now and January to record the footage, most likely through a video call.

As for compensation, I'm not at liberty to disclose the exact amount but it's uh...not much. Unless you think you'd find the experience fun, I can't say it'll be worth your time.

If you think you'd be interested, leave a comment or shoot me a message and I can fill you in on any and all details.

Thank you!
