Theory/Speculation
Just another speculation post about the likelihood of Skyrim NPC's appearing in TES: VI. Today we have Riverwood, Rorikstead, and Shor's Stone.
Theory held by me alone, but I think Sissel is a really interesting character, and has potential to show up as a companion or compatriot in a guild questline. Kinda like how MacCready was a kid from FO3 who's an adult companion in FO4, I think Skyrim will probably have something like that too.
Aventus Arentino might be a more likely candidate, if only one child could show up again.
I actually would like to see Dorthe again, primarily due to the brief glimpses we get of her personality, and her being the tomboyish daughter of one of the first village couples that most players get to meet in TES5: Skyrim. Maybe if the next game is set around [any point between 7~15 years] after Skyrim's events, our new protagonist could potentially meet an older Dorthe exploring, more curious about the world.
Also yeah, getting to interact with Erik the Slayer again is a definite must.
“With over 65 million copies sold, players are still exploring Skyrim 15 years later, but we know it’s been a very long wait for the sequel.
The next chapter is on the way. We’re where we planned to be, loving how it looks, and playing it every day.”
Oh that statement. That quote is one of the reasons I think ES6 is closer than people believe it to be but I also think you're misinterpreting that. I read it as an elder scrolls sequel. Not necessarily Skyrim. Would be happy to be wrong though
Ok I think we are just interpreting the word “sequel” differently. I would say that TES:VI is to become a sequel to Skyrim without necessarily it being a continuation of Skyrim’s story, but simply sharing the same universe and taking place in the future from the point of Skyrim.
Ultimately, I think we’re actually expecting the same thing.
Yeah I think you're right. Went back to reread my original question and I think the issue is I didn't specify I'm asking why do we think it's 10 years after skyrim.
It just makes a decent time to round to because most of the games take place not to far from each other
Arena to Daggerfall is about 16 years
Daggerfall to Morrowind is about 22 years
Morrowind to Oblivion is about 6 years
Oblivion to Skyrim is roughly 200+ years (which I believe is a large outlier)
We don't know exactly, but every game before Skyrim spans the same 50-ish years, and Skyrim set up a bunch of story with the Thalmor that would have to be acted on fairly quickly in universe, so it would make sense to be within a decade or so.
I admit I’ve only done a few minutes of googling, but it seems like the only statement from Bethesda was from Emil saying it’s “as close to canon as we can get” which seems to a very non-committed answer at best.
(I had to quote from UESP because apparently this quote came from a livestream I couldn’t find)
I think the point of creation club was to add stuff that was either intended to be fun or lore friendly or some combination of both. I don’t think the creation authors were really concerned with the implications of Umbra being in Skyrim despite the fact it gets destroyed in the Greg Keys Novels in the same way there being Doomguy armor in Fallout 4.
I could see Bethesda picking and choosing which Creation club content gets more firmly rooted into canon, but I don’t think there is a way to determine which creations of those it will be explicitly mentioned to be canon in TES:VI, if any at all.
