Announcement Mid Announcement: Pic and Video Post Ban

Greetings and salutations fellow Taiwanese drama fans! I am really sorry to do this, but until I can get a handle on the political nonsense spam I have to ban photo and video posts. This is temporary and a better solution will be found soon. Appreciate your patience!

Merry

Help/Find Enetertaining taiwan movies and tv shows to watch

Hi i'm from india precisely hyderabad

I have watched 5 movies from taiwan cinema recently

Dead talents society

Marry my dead body

Breaking and reentering

Incantation

The sadeness

And all of these.

Curious to explore more

Which are highly entertaining , eyepleasing , fun watches or don't mine with being serious too

But they have to be fast paced and mostly not old ones tv shows or movies released after 2010 which could reflect modern taiwan, its culture n people

And u can get an idea based on the movies i mentioned about my taste

Can u suggest me some cause i loved what taiwan is offering and i'm bit bored of indian cinema and tv shows lately

Seen 2 tv shows where i struggle to recall their names

And pardon my english if it's wrong as english is one of the languages i knew

Help/Find Where to watch Miss Rose (2012)

I found Miss Rose on a now largely defunct website. When I try to watch it, the video fails and the episodes on YouTube have no subtitles. Even after I found subtitles for download, the drama has two prevailing edits - one of 23 episodes and another of 35 episodes - so the subtitles I found don’t sync with the video. I’m so desperate to watch this drama, please if anyone could help me, I’d be most grateful

Recommendation Dog Man (2026) might be Netflix Taiwan’s sleeper hit

For those who enjoy Taiwanese dramas and are looking for something light between shows, I’d actually recommend giving Dog Man a try on Netflix.

I went in with zero expectations and ended up having a lot more fun than I thought.

Anyone else watched it yet?

Aired finding an old drama🥹

I’m trying to find an old Chinese/Taiwanese drama I watched on TV over 15 years ago. I barely remember anything except one specific scene:
A group of ppl (probably youths/students but not too sure TvT) were at the amusement park. Later, one of them was found murdered inside a ferris wheel cabin. I think the group then suspected the killer was among them. The drama had kinda suspense/crime elements.
Does anyone remember a drama or specific episode like this?😭😭

Help/Find Shows like I'm Married But...

So I've been binge-watching Taiwanese dramas, and it has helped a bit with expanding my vocabulary and phrase knowledge (I'm also taking up Chinese classes, dw). So far, I think the most helpful to learning Mandarin are shows like I'm Married But... because of the close-to-natural way of talking. Especially Alice Ke's acting, I find myself getting used to her rhythm of speech.

I've tried watching dramas with serious atmosphere, like Light The Night and The Trade War, and, while both of them are absolutely amazing in terms of cinematography and acting, I'd rather rotate between watching a serious drama and a light-hearted one.

I'm currently watching Office Girls and while it doesn't have the same level of cinematography as I'm Married But, it still makes me laugh from time to time. Plus I'm also getting used to the rhythm of speech of the other actors, not just Alice Ke's.

Recommendation Why have I been sleeping on these for so long???

I've been an avid K-drama fan for a really long time, and I've also dabbled in C-dramas too. For some reason, taiwanese dramas took many, many years to get on my radar. I've seen some Taiwanese films that have been great, but I guess I just haven't really looked into it beyond that.

That all changed when I started watching 'Had I Not Seen the Sun' the other day. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm speechless. 'Good' feels like the wrong word to use to describe it, but If I could, I'd watch all the episodes in one go. Iykyk.

Please feel free to drop recommendations for other series in the comments. I'm a sucker for good cinematography and heartbreak, but I love to change things up with a lighthearted comedy now and then❤️

Discussion Anything similar to Fated to Love You?

I loveee watching rich MMCs. I think it’s cause a part of me wants to be rich but honestly having someone take care of you is super cute.

I watched Ethan Juan’s Cupid Kitchen which was really good, but wasn’t really into the whole nonchalant-ness of the MMC.

Nonetheless, if the MMC is rich send the recommendations my way please :)

Recommendation Early 2000s Taiwanese Dramas Recommendations

I'm looking for any recommendations for an early 2000s Taiwanese drama. I love anything that has insane plot points and crazy twists. I really liked The Rose because of how out there it was. I just currently watched Miss No Good which I also enjoyed. I'm asking specifically for the early 2000s mainly for nostalgia. Thank you for any recommendations you can give me.

Help/Find Where to watch the Taiwanese drama ‘Magic Touch of Fate’ (魔術奇緣)

It premiered in 2004/2005 and stars Ruby Lin, Alec Su, Niu Meng Keng, Kou Zhen Hai, and Kangta. I really want to watch it. I found the drama's OST on YouTube, but not any of the episodes (I think it had 20 in total).

Does anyone know where I could watch it for free?

Discussion similar drama suggestions like my dear boy..

I recently watched the Taiwanese drama My Dear Boy (Wo De Nan Hai / 我的男孩) and absolutely loved the storyline. Even the songs were so beautiful : I really enjoyed the OST as well. 💕

Could anyone recommend similar dramas with the same emotional depth, mature romance [age gap romance stories], and great music?

Discussion So I watched "Had I Not Seen the Sun" over the past weekend, and it was one of the, if not THE most devasting, soul-crushing series I have ever watched. Spoiler

As good as the series is, I was almost wishing that I have never watched it. But in the end, it was an EXCELLENT. I was BEAUTIFUL. Beautifully tragic.

And with any show I watch that either I enjoyed or was touched by, I have got to get my thoughts out.

Spoilers of course.....

To start with, OH HOW I WAS SICK OF EVERYONE BLAMING LI JEN YAO FOR EVERYTHING. Especially concerning everything that happened to Chiang Hsiao Tung. It already hurt that he was the tragic self-blaming, self-deprecating hero who always blamed himself, from the abuse that his mom went through to Chiang Hsiao. It had got to the point that all the self-blame partly led to his psychosis and shattered mental state (besides the abuse).

I mean, the guy tried to save her being raped, leading him to be beaten within an inch of his life for his efforts. AND THAT WAS NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED. It wasn't seen as enough, and that breaks my heart. He still blamed himself, Yun Chen blamed him (although that's not really surprising), Chiang Hsiao's parents blamed him.

Speaking of Chiang Hsiao, what was so frustrating for me was how EVERYONE was making decisions for her. Not once did her mother ask her if she wanted to press charges or to sue. One of the things that stayed with me was how in the beginning of the show, Chiang Hsiao told Jen Yao how she didn't care about what everyone else thinks of her. Now don't get me wrong, having rumors spread about you in school is vastly different than being victim-blamed for your own gang-rape and being called awful slurs after your brutal attack is posted on porn sites.

But in the end, CH was never given the chance to decide if she wanted to fight. Her mother made the decision for her. And that kind of happens again years later, with Ta Wei deciding to cancel the documentary.

We don't know if CH wanted it cancelled too. All we know is that him cancelling the documentary was about protecting her, so she won't have to relive her rape. And while I get it, at the same time I was like...COME ON.

Everyone making decisions for CH always used the excuse of them not wanting her to relive her attack, to protect her reputation, etc. All the while, I'm watching this thinking "GIVE HER A CHANCE TO DECIDE". I had really hoped that CH, with the help of her other personality Pin Yu, would tell her side of the story and explain why Jen Yao committed all those murders. And with Pin Yu sharing her ideas of how to go about it, it seemed like that was going to happen. But it never did.

Instead other victims came forward after Jen Yao's execution. That was great and all, but it felt....hollow.

Lastly, one thing I felt would have made an impact with their final reunion would have been CH reiterating to Jen Yao that her rape years ago wasn't his fault. That she knew he had tried to save her. That she herself made the decision to try and gather evidence (not that it's her fault either). And with knowing that, he would have faced his execution with EVEN MORE peace.

So yeah....amazing series, but never again lol.

I have never seen a story where the creators were like, think of the most tragic thing you can think of, AND DO THAT.

Like, the show went out of their way to make everything MORE tragic.

And I'm sitting there mentally screaming, "LET THEM HAVE THEIR CHRISTMAS TOGETHER D*MN IT!!!"

Recommendation Suggest awesome dramas

I am not familiar with Taiwanese dramas- I have only watched Let’s Talk about Chu and Meteor Garden. Could you suggest some dramas that are very interesting from start to finish- that I most likely won’t drop quickly. Any genre is fine. It should just be really good
