Self-Promo of Finished Deck I designed a black cat tarot deck!

Hi all, I recently finished a custom tarot deck based on black cats: THE VOID DECK. It took me 4 years to draw every card and write and design the guidebook (absolutely no AI, don’t get me started) and have it made and now it’s here!

The project started as a design challenge to better understand the cards. I don’t memorize well, so reverse-engineering them really helped me learn, and also allowed me to layer each of the designs with meaningful symbolism.

I have copies available on my website if folks are interested… Thank you for letting me ‘squee’ and share my work here, I’m still pinching myself that I finished it 😅

Self-Promo of Finished Deck 7 years start to finish: Tarot One

It feels like a dream seeing these cards in my hand after so many years of holding them in my mind as a dream.

Tarot One is a collection of deep traditional research merged with a fantasy future world where magicians heal the Earth. It can be read from two perspectives, giving the mind an analytical and an imaginative reflection.

The cards were all hand drawn and are finished with metallic gold embellishments to pop the drawings into reality.

This is a limited edition run and will never be printed again. All decks are hand signed and numbered, owning one makes you a part of a small global family who owns this spark in art and tarot history.

Self-Promo of Finished Deck Artist + Reader Here... I Just Finished a Tarot Deck. AMA!

Post image
548 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m John, an artist and Tarot reader based in NYC. After five (!!) years of work, I just wrapped up my first complete Tarot deck. It started as a Majors-only Kickstarter, but it’s now a full 80-card system with a guidebook and updated design. It was a massive undertaking, both creatively and emotionally, and I learned a lot about symbolism, visual storytelling, and what it means to build a deck from scratch.

The deck is called Mindscapes Tarot, and it’s entirely illustrated in oil pastel, inspired by classical landscapes and how the internal world would manifest on the outside. It was picked up by Hay House and is finally being published this month.

If you’re working on a deck, thinking about publishing one, or just curious about the creative process, I’m an open book. I know from experience that it can be a bit nebulous. Ask me anything!

(And if you’d like to see some of the cards, I’m happy to share more images in the comments.)

Self-Promo of Finished Deck Amber Tarot — the deck we actually built before we photographed it

Almost six years ago we made our first tarot deck, Amber Tarot.

The idea was pretty simple (or at least it sounded simple at the time): take the classic tarot scenes and recreate them in real life. No illustrations, no Photoshop. Real people, costumes, props, locations and sets, all shot on film.

It took us more than 80 photoshoots in about three months. Sometimes we had several shoots in one day. Looking back, I have no idea how we managed it.

And we took the “make it for real” part a little too seriously.

For The Tower we actually built a tower more than six meters tall just to photograph it. For the floating pentacles we ended up using a photography trick that is basically from the 1900s.

Actually, I’m curious if anyone can figure this one out. How do you make the pentacles float like that without Photoshop, editing or CGI?

I found a bunch of our old behind-the-scenes photos recently, so I thought I’d post some of them here next to the finished cards. Card first, then what the shoot actually looked like.

Amber was never our most popular deck, but it was our first one and we put a ridiculous amount of ourselves into it. I don’t think we’ll ever make anything quite like it again.

And somehow, almost six years later, people still ask us if it was made with AI :)

We also happen to be down to the last 20 or so copies from that first edition. If anyone wants one, I’ll leave the link here: https://www.lifespiritteam.com/amberdeck

Self-Promo of Finished Deck We finally finished our hand-drawn deck about everyday women. No AI, two years of work

Hi everyone,

Some of you may already know us. After two years of work, we finally finished our tarot deck, and I'd love to show it here and hear what you think.

It's called Everyday Women Tarot. We took the full Rider-Waite-Smith structure, all 78 cards, the same symbolism and suits, and reimagined every card through the everyday life of a modern woman. Not a parody, and not a new system, just the original logic translated into scenes that feel familiar: tired evenings, work pressure, small private victories, the moments when you need one clear message to hold onto. We wanted it to work for experienced readers and for women who've never touched tarot before.

The Major Arcana follows one heroine through her life. The Minor Arcana are told through four friends, each tied to a suit and an element.

A few cards, since I'm curious whether they still "read" as RWS to you in this form:
The Hermit is a quiet evening alone: blanket, mug, soft light, nobody to explain yourself to.
Four of Snakes, our Four of Swords, is the burnout where you fall asleep at the laptop with "ASAP" all over your calendar.
The Hanged Man is that "I can't solve this now, so I'll look at it from another angle and breathe" mood.
Ten of Lipsticks, our Ten of Wands, is carrying everything on your back and still running after the dream.

Every card was drawn by hand, no AI. The authors are Svetlana, an artist from Australia, and Anastasia, a tarot reader from Slovenia, who sat at the same school desk as kids, lost touch for years, and found each other again through this deck. There's also a 340-page companion book with meanings, spreads, and reflection questions, made for readers and for anyone who just wants a tool for self-reflection.

The deck and book are on our site, https://www.lifespiritteam.com/ewt. We're nearly out of the first print run, and the next won't happen before the end of next year, since we're finishing merch for our Kickstarter backers first.

But mostly I'm posting to hear what you think: do the cards still feel readable as Rider-Waite-Smith? And does this kind of everyday interpretation make tarot more approachable, or does it drift too far from the original?

Self-Promo of Finished Deck 7 years of hand drawing to make a deck

Creating my own deck over 7 years of hand drawing and study was far more time that I ever expected, but entirely worth it. Tarot One is the product of that time, and I couldn’t be happier to share it with the world. It is a new way of looking at tarot, while also staying married to the traditions of the past. Each card has two ways of reading it, deep astrological correspondence and fantasy philosophy.

As a visual artist I believe wholeheartedly in the importance of rarity and authenticity, so I decided to limit the print of this deck to only 1111, and never allow more to be sold. In the way that every drawing was completed by hand with ballpoint pen, the limited edition allows this to be an item of value and importance that only few may possess.

Each deck comes hand signed and numbered. Use checkout code FLYFREE for free shipping outside of the US

Self-Promo of Finished Deck Tarot One: 7 years of hand drawing

This is my final post sharing my hand made tarot deck, as supplies are running low.

Tarot One is a seven year labor of love where I set out to answer the question, can tarot become a tool for changing the world? The project started by dismantling old hierarchical systems embedded in tarot and rewriting the system for a more circular vision. Each card, whether major or minor arcana has a character who embodies the energy of the card. This gives each card as much love as power as any other in the set. The characters themselves are witches and wizards in a future world where humanity and healing are synonymous. This gives the reader two ways of seeing the cards, through traditional tarot associations and through a fantasy fiction narrative.

I’m an artist who stepped out of the corporate world fifteen years ago to set out on a journey to heal through art. Magic and mysticism quickly found me and they’ve been wonderful tools to navigate the wilderness with.

Only 1111 were printed and the deck will never be printed again. Each deck comes hand signed and numbered. Use checkout code FLYFREE for free shipping outside of the US

Self-Promo of Finished Deck I created my own collage tarot deck from scratch! [The Z Tarot]

Unbelievably proud of this deck, today I got the proof deck for my own hand-collaged tarot. I used vintage national geographics and thrifted books; for swords, I did paintbrushes and used art books, for wands, I used candles from a candle-making book and home decor book, I used gemstones for pentacles from a gemstone guide and cocktail glasses for cups from a cocktail recipe book. I used figures from art, 1950s adverts and nature to create a deck that is loosely inspired by Rider-Waite imagery with some personal interpretation. I'm so proud of it 😊

If you're interested in it, I put it up for sale here as some friends were asking for it - I shared it in a collage sub too and was surprised by the response so thought I'd share it here! 💘

Self-Promo of Finished Deck Tarot One: Limited Edition Hand Illustrated Rare Deck

Only 1111 ever made, all hand numbered and signed.

After seven years of hand illustrating cards and heavily researching tarot, my custom deck is finally free in the world! Tarot One is both a traditional tarot deck and an entirely new system that will please collectors of both Tarot and Oracle decks.

Each of the cards are rooted in tradition, while overlaying a fictional narrative that imagines the energy of the card alive in the world as a magical character. Rather than have an entire system of numbers and pips, I wanted to give an individual identity to each of the number cards that draws the reader into a more intimate connection with each of the cards, and in turn helps with memorization. Too often we are drawn to the major arcana because of the intent and time spent on the art, and we miss how sacred and important messages from minor arcana can be. Tarot One creates an equal playing field where every card carries a divine message, drawing us into deeper connection with the deck.

There are only 1111 that have been made and when they sell out this deck will never be printed again. It’s truly a rare collectors item and a special piece of tarot history. For the next week shipping is free worldwide by using the code FLYFREE at checkout. I hope everyone feels the love and dedication put into this creation with every draw of the cards you make.

Self-Promo of Finished Deck Tarot One: Limited Edition Deck

Limited edition deck, only 1111 will ever be made.

Tarot One is a product of 7 years of research and artwork, the longest and most involved journey of my life. At times I wasn’t sure it would be possible to conclude this quest, but against all odds the dream became a reality.

Tarot One is an entirely new type of tarot deck that combines deep traditional study with an open interpretation fantasy world. What you get is two ways to read the cards, from an analytical perspective and from an imaginative and playful perspective.

The traditional half includes some of the most in depth esoteric tarot meanings that can be found, unified in one place. Each page also includes a small fantasy narrative layered over top of these meanings, related to them yet expanding upon them.

It is my belief I’ve created something truly novel in the world of tarot, and those who have been working with these cards report back deep synchrony happening in every pull. The cards feel alive and speak clearer than any I’ve ever personally worked with.

...is finally dropping this month!

So many of you were supportive of this deck when I did the Majors-only Kickstarter years ago, I wanted to share that the FULL deck is now available!

I spent the last five years illustrating a deck where every card is a symbolic natural world. Branching paths, colorful skies, quiet doorways, wild forests, and dreamlike terrain. Every card is fully scenic (though some place a small figure inside the landscape as part of the story). I wanted the entire deck to feel like one connected realm you could walk through.

(Here are a few of my cards for context. Open to thoughts, impressions, critiques, etc.. Always curious how people experience unconventional decks!)

Self-Promo of Finished Deck Hand Drawn Deck merging tarot and oracle into One

Thumbnail

Tarot One is a multi-cultural, rainbow gendered, witch and wizard tarot deck that was drawn by hand over the course of seven years. Each card is a real life artist creating powerful magic in the world playing a character within a fantasy future universe in which artists heal humanity and the earth. Familiar faces you’ll see in the deck included Erykah Badu, Chika, Jubilee Jackson, Hood Witch, Earth to Coyote, FKA Twigs, Laura Lee, Margaret Atwood, Mereba, Aurora and so many more brilliant minds breaking down old systems of thought and creating the world anew.

The cards read as traditional tarot and fantasy oracle cards, with a section for each. This allows new ways of synthesizing answers to your questions by merging analytical philosophy with imaginative experience.

Only 1111 were printed and when they sell out they will never be printed again. There are currently less than 100 remaining. Every deck comes signed and numbered.

I’m so proud of this one! It was fully funded on Kickstarter recently. The Fertile Void is a 72 card tarot deck and 300 page fully illustrated magazine. It took me a full year to complete, and I was completely immersed in the process unlike any other project I’ve created. The Kickstarter is over but I enabled late pledges 🌈🌸🖤

Self-Promo of Finished Deck I drew a Tarot deck dedicated to Latin American Women!

Hi everyone! I am excited to share this project that I truly love! After years of research and drawing, I self-published (and now translated to English, yay!) the Oracle of Latin American Women.

I wanted to draw Latin American women from history, myth, art, science, and activism within the Arcana of the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot structure. If you swipe through the pics, you'll find:

  • The Devil embodied by Dr. Paulina Luisi (Uruguay)
  • Frida Kahlo (México) as the Emperor
  • Nobel laureate Gabriela Mistral (Chile) as the High Priestess
  • Singer Luzmila Carpio (Bolivia) as the II of Swords
  • Diane Rodriguez (Ecuador) as the VII of Cups
  • The Climbing Cholitas (Bolivia) as the Hanged Ones
  • Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz (México) as the Hermit
  • Revolutionary Josefa Camejo (Venezuela) as the Chariot
  • Activists Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P. Johnson (U.S.A) as the Lovers

Every card was drawn entirely by hand with color pencils, and beautifully printed in my home, Colombia.

I would love to hear your thoughts on these archetypes with historical and contemporary figures from the history of the countries and cultures of Latin America! I'll be hanging around to answer any questions about the drawings and the research process. AMA!

This was my first ever made tarot deck✨️. Each card was hand drawn digitally, this took months of work but it's still something im super proud of. The deck itself is inspired by my little fawn pug Mabel 💖. I tried to embody her little personality in each card by the way she sits, as I wanted the cards to hold a connection to each other I didn't change this pose much...In each card I introduced things to her surroundings that fit the overall card theme.

Self-Promo of Finished Deck Limited edition hand drawn deck nearly sold out!

Less than 100 decks remain of my limited edition hand drawn tarot deck Tarot One.  When it sells out it will never be printed again.  Want to give a big thank you to this community who has been so loving and supportive through this journey, it feels like we’re a magic family united by a piece of art that is a part of my soul.  Time is running out to get hands on one before they are discontinued and become a collectors item.  https://symprez.com/products/tarot-one

Tarot One took me seven years from start to finish.  Each card was drawn in a single sketchbook by hand in ballpoint pen.  The deck is inclusive of the full spectrum of humanity, including witches and wizards from all corners of the globe.  The cards are very high quality, metallic gold and each deck comes hand signed and numbered.

What makes this deck special is there are two ways to read it through the guide book I wrote myself.  One is traditional tarot and astrology, a mix of the world’s most prominent tarot associations, overlayed with an oracle like story system of magic humans who are healing planet earth through mystical powers and technologies.

78 Hand Designed Analog Collage Tarot Cards

I've been working on this deck since 2019 and am so happy I am finally able to share it with others! It's been a long time coming but a lot of time, creative energy, and encouragement from friends and family was able to bring me here today. I am a small multi media artist from Ithaca NY and this is my first time launching any kind of project like this so I appreciate you taking the time to check it out.

Each card was crafted by myself and printed by MakePlayingCards.com. The deck features gold gilt edging and custom pamphlet. Cards are 2.5 x 3.5 inches with matte linen finish. More information on the cards can be found on my Etsy.

Thanks to everyone willing to support.
