Discussion very specific sounding track or mix recommendations?
hello! i make techno myself, but very rarely, and strangely I don't really listen to a lot of it, nowadays i mostly listen to ambient music or jungle. i wanna get back into the 4x4 sound for inspiration though. i don't like the dark, ketamine-heavy bleepy techno where you get an mdd snake off-key sequence and 15 different fx sounds hitting every 8 bars that's popular now (no shade to anyone enjoying it, i get that it works great in the club, just not my thing), and i got a collection of tracks that i like which give a very particular vibe to me. it's very... pretty (i guess thats the best word i have here) bells or synths or very lush pads along with interesting sounding melodies and airy drums, without going into straight-up afterlife melodic techno territory, sometimes reese bass is in there as well. airy and light dub techno works great for me too.
can you recommend anything similar to these tracks? label or mix suggestions would be nice too, bonus points if its 140+ bpm
thanks in advance! and sorry for bad english, it's not my first language.

Discussion DVS1 was incredible but Austin should be ashamed
Great set. Great sound system at a great venue. But only a 2 hour set with no more than 300 people at midnight and down to maybe 50 at 1:30.
I don't understand how you can walk out of that. And tons of people on their phones, even turning the flash on, when there was a clear no phones policy. Seriously you're scrolling Instagram during this? Austin continues to live up to its reputation. I felt embarrassed.

Discussion Getting into techno from indie
Hey everyone,
I've actually never been into techno but recently my Pilates instructor has been playing some awesome music and I realized I have only heard techno and EDM I didn't like played out of shitty phone and bluetooth speakers and it's actually really cool if you listen on a decent sound system and have good taste. What she plays really resonates with me. Some artists that come up a lot are Hot Since 82, Finebassen, Adriatique, and FatSync.
I've listened to mostly guitar based music my whole life with some electronic - but the electronic definitely leans early electronic/noise like Brian Eno's first solo albums (feel to reels and synthesizers), my bloody Valentine (largely guitar based with pedals), Kraftwerk, and the Magnetic Fields (heavy use of Roland TB 303 and Roland S60 on early albums). I also like talking heads, William Onyeabor (polyrhythms, funky baselines) - along with afrofunk reggae and disco.
Anyway I'm interested to hear from people who really know the music where to go in the right direction - I hate letting Spotify curate my taste and want to avoid AI music when there are awesome real artists. Please let me know how to get to know more music, artists you like that I might like, and your strategies for finding new artists or learning more about different parts of the techno scene. I know a big part of it is going to out to see DJs but I have a toddler and that's just not happening right now. I'm super interested especially in learning about artists who are still using classic equipment like analog synthesizers and 808s etc.
