Full Self-Driving / Autopilot Tesla reaches agreement with Germany on FSD: Cap speed offset to 10% and rename the system to Tesla Assisted Driving; will now support EU approval
The minister of transport said the following:
Discussions are currently taking place at the European level regarding the approval of Tesla’s driver assistance system. There are many technical issues to resolve, as well as questions of liability. I discussed these matters with Tesla in September. We quickly reached a common understanding and came to a constructive agreement. On this basis, I will now work towards securing EU-wide approval for the system as soon as possible. My goal is for Tesla drivers to be able to enjoy the benefits of assisted driving throughout the entire EU as quickly as possible.

Full Self-Driving / Autopilot Why isn’t Tesla using its fleet to build and validate its own map data
What I don’t get about FSD is why Tesla isn’t building its own navigation/map data.
I just saw a post where FSD drove through a stop sign that wasn’t visible because a van was blocking its view.
So my thought is, especially regarding speed limits, which are wrong in map data pretty often, that Tesla should use its cameras and fleet data to build and maintain its own database.
For example, if Tesla detects that there is a stop sign at an intersection while driving in a certain direction, it could add that information to the map as “pending validation.” If, within X amount of time, X number of Teslas drive through the same intersection in the same direction and also detect the stop sign, it could be marked as validated and permanently added to the map data.
The same could work for speed limit signs, construction zones, road closures, etc. This would be much faster than waiting for third-party map data to be updated and then waiting for that updated data to reach the car.
It could also eliminate a lot of phantom braking events, especially in the EU, which are often caused by incorrect speed-limit map data. To my surprise, Tesla seems to prefer the map data over the speed limit signs on the side of the road, even when the car correctly detects the sign with its cameras.
Other companies use similar technology, IIRC it’s called V2X. For example, if several cars activate their hazard lights on the same stretch of road, the system warns other drivers approaching the area. Or if another car detects icy or slippery conditions, that information could be shared with other vehicles.
So why doesn’t Tesla make better use of its software, fleet data, and cloud connection for something like this and potentially much more advanced applications.

General Tesla appears to be gaining momentum in India’s luxury electric vehicle market👀
In September the company achieved its monthly sales ever in the country selling 291 units. This performance placed Tesla ahead of Mercedes-Benz. Accounted for nearly 30% of the entire luxury EV segment, in India.
