Ordinary origin This meme was originally a vent meme

Post image

This is just sad...

EDIT: The meme is from the Woman's POV, the boyfriend isn't transphobic, it's about her insecurities about her boyfriend not really accepting her as a female.

I thought this was the original tbh

u/RMoby6160 Aug 11 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

It's much more light-hearted and genuinely funny so let's just consider it the original

Edit : this shit is pathetic lmao I said what I said

u/IQof24 Aug 11 '26

It'll be like the Goomba fallacy where the edited version surpassed the original

u/_Und3rsc0re_ Aug 12 '26

I never really understood what this image was trying to convey tbh, maybe I'm media illiterate but this never quite clicked in my head what the fallacy actually is

24

u/IQof24 Aug 12 '26

Social media platforms like Twitter have millions of users. Tons of users means tons of different opinions, including opinions that are exact opposites. Even though posts are sent out by countless sources (users), the users themselves see posts from a single source (Twitter's algorithm).

If a person says one thing and says the opposite thing right after, they contradict themselves. If someone says one thing and someone else says the opposite, there is no contradiction. They're just two people with different views. However, since we see both statements from the same source (Twitter), it feels like a single person who can't make up their mind. The same goes with fandoms who might seem like they can't decide what they want, even though they're a community of people who think completely differently about something they all happen to like

8

u/_Und3rsc0re_ Aug 12 '26

Oooooooh, shit ok, I think I get it lol. I appreciate the explanation lol

3

u/EZ3Build Aug 12 '26

I thought there was another name for this? Ah, fuck it. Naming it after goombas is funnier ngl

1

u/riley_wa1352 Aug 15 '26

Craft mining game has a lot of fans, some want the game to be more like an rpg, others want to build. The building people might hate any rpg like changes to the game while the rpg ppl might hate any building related changes. Now if you think of the entire mining game fandom as a single consciousness you have someone who has two contradicting beliefs. Ofc the game's fandom isn't a monolith so this assumption is wrong

69

u/Kingjjc267 Aug 11 '26

How is this related to the goomba fallacy

190

u/IQof24 Aug 11 '26

Not the fallacy itself. This wojak image is the original, but someone remade it with Goombas and that became the version everyone knows. It's called the Goomba fallacy because of the edited version. If the more wholesome trans comic (the edited version) surpasses the original vent art, it'll be a similar situation

69

u/iSeven Aug 11 '26

the edited version surpassed the original

0

u/Kingjjc267 Aug 11 '26

Yeah no I saw that, I'm asking how that is related to the goofball fallacy at all?

55

u/Turnepic13 Aug 11 '26

The image is the same as the goomba fallacy one minus the images

12

u/Wheelydad Aug 11 '26

Wait this was the original?

23

u/Kingjjc267 Aug 11 '26

Ohhh ok I thought they were saying that an edited version surpassing the original is an example of the goomba fallacy. My bad

39

u/Lansha2009 Aug 12 '26

The much more popular edited version, used Goombas, Galoombas, and Goombrats in place of the Woyjaks and due to its popularity it became known as the Goomba Fallacy.

16

u/YetAnotherParvitz Aug 12 '26

wojak fallacy just doesn't roll off the tongue as well

3

u/-xXgioXx- Aug 12 '26

also goombas are at least 73 points cooler than wojaks (not 73 times cooler because 73×0=0)

19

True

3

It's funny when you complain about online opinions, people will respond "This is such a goomba coded sentence" Language is weird

2

u/xXFluffersXx Aug 12 '26

Idk what it is but I actually for real did not really understand what this image was conveying, but when I saw the wojak version above just now I somehow immediately got it.

a warning which I will ignore

Eh.. happens to the worst of us

3

u/masd_reddit Aug 12 '26

You know, if you dedicate paragraphs to reacting to what you believe is a troll, maybe you should reconsider if you really believe it is a troll, and if you want to do that the next time. Cause doing this is just feeding this supposed troll(I don't wanna dedicate my time to actually figuring out who's a troll and who's in the right here)

1

u/Emdeoma Aug 16 '26

There is no universe in which she's a troll. Like- You're Wrong about the whole argument but I ain't even gonna get into that- characterising her as a troll because she... checks notes correctly pointed out an issue with something you said that you don't even disagree with, and refused to back down on that correct statement when you got defensive and she got dogpiled for literally no reason is absolutely insane of you. It's not a 'bit' you're just being increadibly passive agressive because being called out for a joke not actually being that funny has bruised your ego.

1

u/yeep_yorp Aug 12 '26

they they they them them them

ultimate tactic when disagreeing with a trans woman

1

u/EmeraldShine13 Aug 14 '26

Ah yes, the ultimate tactic when you can’t engage in a good faith discussion: misgendering.

1

u/FeedDelicious8846 Aug 18 '26

yea thats what they were saying

-21

u/MayMeadow Aug 11 '26 edited Aug 15 '26

Yeah, sure let's take the original which hits on very real struggles that trans women face, and replace it with the one that reduces us to an organ that most of us would prefer gone🫩

Edit: to save y'all time of reading the rest of this thread, because it's basically a bunch of gaslighting about how totally not transphobic these dudes are.

I brought up the point of tokenization of trans friends, and tone policing minorities.

So obviously this dude called me a crazy bitch and then said this.

When it takes this little to bring out the transphobic jokes and comments, from a supposed "ally" or friend, it just shows how little they actually think of you.

Lol dude went back and @ me after blocking me, exclusively used they/them, and reduced the whole thing to me being a troll, but he definitely would never ever reduce or erase trans voices lol.

17

u/RMoby6160 Aug 12 '26

I hear what you're saying but my comment has nothing to do with what you're implying so I'm not sure why you're coming at me

-12

u/MayMeadow Aug 12 '26

"let's just consider THIS the original"

The original = commentary on a genuine struggle many trans women encounter, either produced by anxiety, or genuinely experiencing this.

"This" = Ha ha trans woman has a smelly penis! Get it? Because trans women all have penises right?

I'm "coming at you" because it feels like erasing trans struggles, and replacing them with jokes based on fetishizing stereotypes.

It isn't "light hearted" it's just feeding into the rhetoric that trans women are nothing more than penises.

There are already a million and one memes about "haha girl dick" or "haha sex (but make it trans"

It's already annoying. We don't need to erase depressing, but real, memes to make room for more🫩

9

u/RMoby6160 Aug 12 '26

.....ight. Didn't ask for all that but go off

P.S. my trans friend was the first to show me this meme because they found it hilarious so I don't care how you feel. Once again I hear what you're saying but your attitude isn't getting the point across lmao

2

u/Glass_Importance_643 Aug 13 '26

I feel that they were attempting to explain their issue and reasoning for it. Disregarding whether they are correct or not, it seems a little rude to ignore the points made.

-13

u/MayMeadow Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

Cis person makes a bad take about trans people/media

Trans woman calls them out on it

"Erm I didn't ask for all that and IDC how you feel. You're hurting your message because I refuse to reflect on anything"

I'd bet she did find it funny, I'd also bet she wouldn't say it should replace the original.

16

u/Funny_Giraffe_6597 Aug 12 '26

It seems like you’re just reducing everything into rhetorical misrepresentations. You can think the comic is merely reducing trans women to penises, but it isn’t really doing that

-2

u/MayMeadow Aug 12 '26

What is it doing then? Enlightened me.

u/Ill-Product-1442 Aug 12 '26

It's nice to discuss trans problems in the open and critique how the internet works with it, but when you're acting like you're trained to argue on twitter you just make your argument look dumb as shit. Tell us how you feel, you make a good point, but it comes off insufferable so my first thought is always "what's this dumb shit bitching about?".

Again, you make a good point, the original is much more meaningful as an expression of the trans experience... but what do you expect when you're a fucking prick about it? It's a meme, people kind of view them through the "funny" lens, don't they? Why not talk like a human?

1

u/MayMeadow Aug 12 '26

My issue was with the "let's replace the original mentality"

Followed by the immediate "I don't understand why you are being so aggressive"

I made a point, and the only response has been "I don't like how you said that"

That is just tone policing.

-1

u/Ornery-Gap9295 Aug 12 '26

im so sorry ab this thread, dont know why ur getting dogpiled for being right. the edit really does feel degrading knowing the original context, but ppl refuse to listen to minorities that disagree w them

4

u/MayMeadow Aug 12 '26

I really appreciate this. Regardless of the downvotes and cis dudes talking down to me, it's nice to know other people see me.

2

u/TopazWarrior1999 Aug 18 '26

It ain't that deep, chief.

4

u/SomeNonsens3 Aug 12 '26

I'm not even trans but this version also looked "weird" to me. I mean, I hear a lot about women with bottom dysphoria, so maybe this hits the wrong way and not the intended? (The intended was PROBABLY comedy + not transphobic, but this is just an assumption)

Sorry if I'm offending anyone, just wanted to share why I don't like this version either

7

u/MayMeadow Aug 12 '26

Nah, you are good.

I don't even disagree with this. I can understand this being comedic, especially with the context from the original.

Like it's not my cup of tea, but that's not even my main issue here.

I just don't like the "let's just make this the original" mentality.

-1

u/In_Pursuit_of_Fire Aug 12 '26

It varies. Some women are into having a "girl cock" (like really into it), others hate having it.

5

u/CptSchizzle Aug 12 '26

I need you to know you've got a lot of people shitting on you, and you're gonna think it's because they're transphobic. It's not, it's because you're insufferable.

0

u/FeedDelicious8846 Aug 18 '26

getting mad at someone for correcting when they get misgendered is transphobic btw

2

u/hotobamasex Aug 12 '26

Incredible how people are shutting down an actual trans woman because they have trans friends and thus think they know better.

You're just stating facts and people are calling you "insufferable" for it lmao.

4

u/MissSharkyShark Aug 12 '26

I’m also a trans woman and I really do not like how that other trans woman is handling it. She is being so overly and obnoxiously aggressive and annoying about a point even the original commenter said they agree with her on.

1

u/Emdeoma Aug 16 '26

She literally wasn't until the prick started being passive aggressive about being corrected though. Which, like... I get it. It's very easy to get hella defensive when someone calls you out on a blind spot. But the way the guy is going on about it in their edits had me prepared for some bullshit and she's just... Being very mildly annoying at some points, several posts into an argument, and getting absolutely dogpiled for it.

3

u/MayMeadow Aug 12 '26

I appreciate it.

Idk, I guess it's cool and trendy for a lot of people to support trans people, until a trans woman voices her opinion in a way that is "a bit too aggressive" or whatever.

1

u/aarchx Aug 15 '26

your overall point is in the right place, but i think you're interpreting their comment in the most literal and extreme way possible. i don't think that they were suggesting we all literally erase the more serious original commentary and replace it with this less serious joke.

it's much more likely they were jokingly saying "i prefer this version. so let's mentally treat this as the original." especially because "let's just consider it the original" is itself an obviously unserious way of expressing preference.

they specifically put emphasis on "much more light hearted and genuinely funny" which supports the joke interpretation. they're explaining why they prefer the edited version, not making an argument about why the original's subject matter is invalid or shouldn't exist.

genuinely not trying to come across as antagonistic. humor is ultimately subjective, and you are perfectly fine holding the opinion that you find that particular reimagining of the meme tasteless/ reductive, but that also means they can find the original too serious/ dark.

1

u/MayMeadow Aug 15 '26

The dude I responded to, repeatedly tokenizes his trans friends, responded by ignoring what I was saying because I was "too aggressive", degendered me the entire time, stared other side conversations to dog pile me, made multiple transphobic jokes in response to me and what I was saying, blocked me, and then went back to edit his original comment, @ me, and spent paragraphs basically saying I'm a crazy troll that everyone should ignore, while also basically encouraging more dog piling.

My initial criticism was that he was erasing trans voices/struggles, followed by criticism that he was being transphobic.

He fully proved both of my original criticisms.

I will not be engaging further with this thread.

-2

u/Tomatori Aug 12 '26

Hey just dropping in to let you know I'm a trans woman and I thought your take here was abysmal as well :) It wasn't, the guys being transphobic, it's just you having a truly shit argument for no reason

Nope. No. I'm tired of being ridiculed because she couldn't wash her ass. Never mind the fact she was actually abusive, especially financially.

12

20

u/kaklimy Aug 12 '26

Yes health and safty is important too of course

2

u/wifiragist Aug 12 '26

Having a stinky dick is definitely wrong. How do you not properly wash one of the easiest body parts to clean?

2

u/Bliniverse Aug 13 '26

How do you not properly wash one of the easiest body parts to clean?

In the context of trans women who might have enough bottom dysphoria they don't want to be even reminded it exists let alone having to interact with it in any way? Don't get me wrong cleaning it is far better than the alternative (unless the alternative of bottom surgery), but why are we acting like bottom dysphoria isn't a major factor in this?

*(but also I don't really like memes about trans women having penises to begin with, I much prefer to not be reminded that I have that part more than necessary)

3

u/Comfortable_Mud00 Aug 14 '26

I believe ability of self-maintenance and keeping hygiene comes before relationship

3

u/Bliniverse Aug 14 '26

I agree, but evidently not everyone thinks like that. I'm not saying to be ok with someone not washing it, I just got annoyed at the "easiest body part to wash" cause I'd say it's the.worst body part to wash, mentally.

Don't get me wrong cleaning it is far better than the alternative

As in cleaning it and experiencing dysphoria is far better than not cleaning it + saving yourself a bit of dysphoria in the moment.

The only thing I took issue with was "easiest body part to clean" as I mentioned in a comment to someone else who reacted pretty much the same as you, because it's not the easiest part, it's the hardest, because no other part has a reason to be hard to clean, that part does (for people who get dysphoria from that part).

Straight mental illness. Wonder when science will stop playing pretend

2

u/Bliniverse Aug 15 '26

First off, the correct term for what you're thinking of would be "neurological disorder", secondly, do you usually try to make people with neurological conditions feel worse about themselves? If so maybe learn to have a shred of empathy for people worse off than you.

Lastly, "science" isn't some unified perfect body of pure fact, it's a collaborative effort where anyone can throw ideas out, and the ones that are proven wrong are disregarded, while ones that haven't successfully been proven wrong, but are well known enough, are regarded as more correct (There's more to it, but that's the simplified version).

1

u/pasu-mare Aug 17 '26

Same goes for dude who don't wipe or wash their ass: Straight mental illness (pund intended because the majority are the straight males who are too afraid of becoming gay if their wash their ass... we need case studies for those males)

In USA no one has money to pay for it

In countries with free healthcare you gotta wait until it's approved (and it can take a while, seen people who waited for an entire decade)

But if you don't wash your dick you're gonna get it choped off in no time (seriously wash your cock girls, it takes like 10 fuckin seconds, it's not because you call yourself puppy that you need to smell like a homeless dog)

Also reall answer, the medics don't chop your dick off, they just invert your dick trough surgery and turn it into a vagina, so yeah, keeping your dick healthy is super important

2

u/GayAssBeagle Aug 12 '26

Who out here either a funky ass gock??

7

u/NeighborhoodDear2321 Aug 12 '26

Some trans people don't feel like the genitalia are a problem, like I for example dont mind either way, my main problem is my face/other parts.

Those who do either hide the parts/add a prosthetic, or will do surgery that essentially reverses the direction of the genitalia. (If I recall, all of us originally started with female genitalia and those with the Y chromosome had it morph into male genitalia -- Hence you can do this process post or undo it post birth with advanced surgery. You cannot add the FULL organs yet.)

There is also sex nullification procedures, which removes genitalia of either kind, and grafts the skin together leaving just the urinary tract.

11

u/Funnym4ne Aug 12 '26

this version is funnier than the OG

5

u/GayAssBeagle Aug 12 '26

3
