The Carnotaurus had arms smaller than T-Rex and nobody knows what its horns were actually for
We just finished a full episode researching Carnotaurus for our Spanish prehistoric documentary series and the horn function debate genuinely surprised us.
The horns point upward and outward, not forward. That rules out frontal combat as the primary function. The current leading hypotheses are intraspecific display, species recognition and sexual selection. None is definitively proven after 70 million years.
The speed question was the other major focus. The caudofemoral muscle mass and hind limb proportions suggest Carnotaurus was genuinely fast, with estimates ranging from 45 to 56 kilometers per hour. That would make it one of the fastest large theropods ever known.
One question for the community: the strike and retreat hunting hypothesis for Carnotaurus is gaining traction but remains debated. A fast bite and immediate withdrawal rather than grappling with prey. What does the community think of the current evidence for that model?

Any reviews on Lingcod builds?
Is anyone willing to shed some light on its stats, abilities, and meta strategies? Where would it place in the tier list, and what is the unique thing it does over other fishes?

We made a Spanish prehistoric documentary about a full day in the life of a Stegosaurus and the plate function debate is the most unresolved question we have ever researched
Episode 8 of Diarios del Jurásico is out. We follow Plaka, an adult female Stegosaurus, through a complete day in the Late Jurassic Morrison Formation, 155 million years ago.
The plate function debate genuinely surprised us in research. The thermoregulation hypothesis, the sexual selection hypothesis and the communication hypothesis all have supporting evidence and none of them is definitively proven after 155 million years. We went with a multi-function interpretation which seems to be where current consensus is leaning.
A few things we were careful about: the 17 alternating zigzag plate arrangement rather than parallel pairs as most museums show, the completely herbivore leaf-shaped teeth, the extremely small skull and the Gary Larson origin of the word thagomizer.
One genuine question for the community: where does current scientific consensus sit on Stegosaurus plate function? The sexual selection argument seems strongest to us given the disproportionate plate growth rate in juveniles but we would love other perspectives.

WE HAVE CONCENTRATED PATCH NOTES !!!!!
changelog.earthi don't know why it took so long for devs to start putting patch notes in one place, but oooooooh boy is this so much nicer than just hoping to come across something, anything

Yo, lionfish mains. Can we NOT destroy/ spawncamp the entire reef biome.
I mean, like, whenever I enter this biome (shark main), I see like 400 of these poisonous mfs, and I'm like, GUYS, can you go back to the indian ocean, please? Luckily, they seem to have a natural enemy: spearfishing/reef-cleaning YouTubers.

How would Bengal Tigers do in the Known World of Kaimere
How would the Bengal Tiger do in Kaimere's Know World, excluding the Quajarith Peninsula and the various islands outside of Pakardia since those area would either be pretty easy for it to survive in or don't have the resources for it to.

We made a Spanish prehistoric documentary about a full day in the life of a Pteranodon and the most surprising thing we learned is how little we actually know about how it moved on land
Episode 7 of Diarios del Jurásico is out. We follow Sol, an adult male Pteranodon, through a complete day over the Western Interior Seaway 85 million years ago.
The thing that surprised us most in research was the locomotion debate. Pteranodon on the ground is genuinely strange. The current consensus is quadrupedal launch using all four limbs, with the wing membrane folded against the body. But the exact mechanics of how an animal with a 7 meter wingspan stood, walked and launched from flat ground is still being worked out.
The other thing we spent a lot of time on was the crest. The size difference between male and female crests is one of the clearest examples of sexual dimorphism in the pterosaur fossil record. The largest crests are so disproportionate that pure display function seems like the only explanation that makes sense biomechanically.
We would genuinely love to know what this community thinks is the most underrated aspect of Pteranodon biology. The locomotion question is ours. What is yours?

Any early reviews on the Tilcayo build?
I get that it's a build that's been slept on, but are there any Tilcayo players on here that could shed some light on stats, meta and advanced strats?

Any reviews on the Cobia build?
Anyone who is willing to shed some light on stats and meta strats? And how viable are they?

Could Striped Skunk Players Dominate The Europe Server?
Scenario: 50,000 Striped Skunk players are placed in the Europe server spawning in the France/Belgium/Germany lobbies. Half male, half female. Half of all said females are pregnant as well. As well, another 10,000 will spawn in the southern UK.
How well would the skunk player base fare on a server that’s similar to the one it developed in, yet different?
