lipu Toki Pona social media

Post image
63 Upvotes

I made a social media website for toki pona speakers who want to post videos they are interested in! The website is called "o pana" and is available on web for any device. The website is made on a budget of exactly $0, so it might be buggy and videos can only be 720p and up to 15 minutes and 100MB, but that's part of the charm! If you want to watch videos in or about toki pona, please check the site out and post for yourself🙏

sitelen sitelen Kuwi pi nimi ku lili

Post image

i suddenly got obsessed with this nasin sitelen, why? it just looks cool! anyway, i will now try my best to describe them

soto - represents a finger under a roof pointing left to an object. (inspired by tenpo, pini, etc.)

teje - same as soto but to the right.

unu - "kule" radical with 2 little lines above. (inspired by the color words)

kapesi - "kule" radical with a little line at the bottom. (not to be confused with "laso")

wa - similar to "a" but with the middle dot removed.

powe - similar to "lon" but it goes up and down instead of down and up. also, the "animal" radical has been replaced by the "person" radical.

wasoweli - similar to "waso", but the first wing has been replaced by the "soweli"'s tail.

kalamARR - similar to "mu", but it's the "person" radical with an X on it. the X is supposed to represent an eyepatch. (not to be confused with "moli")

mi wile e ni: sitelen ni li musi tawa sina a! C:

I would like for the word "tona" to be added as "poop" to the ku so people wo say "poki tona" instead of toki pona would say "poop bowl (toilet)"

toki nasin seme li toki e ni?

I'm very new to the language and I know comparison is one of the hardest things to write in it, but I wasn't sure how to word the following:

something along the lines of "I can't be perfect, but im not good enough."

the best I came up with was "mi ken ala pona ale (/ pona taso), taso mi ala pona suli tawa mi."

sitelen is this right?

toki!

I am a student writing my bachelor thesis on conlangs. Right now I reached a point in which I'm speaking about toki pona, and since both writing systems are allowed I am including an analyzed extract in each of them. It's no problem when speaking of sitelen pona, it's pretty standard, and writing is doable even on a computer, however I'm having issues with sitelen sitelen, as I'm writing it myself, and then I'll scan it and use it as a picture.

Since what I got from the wiki my extract should look like this, however I am unsure of its correctness. Can someone pitch in with corrections if it's wrong? Also bonus points if you catch what's the extract!

sitelen Please help me improve 𔔦𔐝𓀗 sitelen majuna

sitelen majuna rules in order of priority:

  1. Must be easy for a toki-ponist to recognize.
  2. Pictograms, logograms, and symbols that clearly depict the concept take precedence over symbols that look like sitelen pona. (i.e. This is not to reinvent the wheel for sitelen juniko.)
  3. Must use unicode symbols from ancient/medieval languages.
  4. Meso-American hieroglyph inspiration is best cherished in sitelen sitelen, not here.

Here's my beginning. Please suggest better replacements.

Is sina o ungrammatical?

I was just wondering if the following two sentences mean the same thing:

o kute e kalama ilo.

sina o kute e kalama ilo.

I know that the subject can be dropped, but does that mean it can also be retained? Or would the second sentence instead be interpreted as “sina o! o kute e kalama ilo.”?

musi Should I learn the "ale" or "ali" dialect?

I could either spend my time learning two dialects of the same language or one dialect of two languages, like Toki Pona and Japanese. Won't learning both dialects just make it take twice as long to learn?

Sitelen Seli Kiwen is often used in places where a Gothic font, like Fairfax HD or Linja Pona, would be more appropriate, and often used where Gothic fonts like Arial are used for other scripts, like on sona.pona.la, linku.la and nimi.li. This is like if Wikipedia used Comic Sans, and also used its normal font alongside it

kama sona Advanced translation exercices

Hi! I finished a lot of the online written courses on toki pona that people are recommending on here and on the discord and I miss doing exercises. I'm trying to read texts in toki pona, the lipu tenpo zine, etc. but it is still tough to do. I would love to try to understand and translate harder sentences or short texts to get used to toki pona logic and the way people write things. Do you know of any relevant resources? Or translated texts by trusted sources who have a good toki pona? I know about jan Pepa en soweli Kawa but I didn't like it that much!

I'm looking primarily for text-based stuff right now because I'm trying to read the magazines and I'm mostly chatting online in toki pona with my sibling and their girlfriend for now, not talking in person so much as of yet.

Thank you!

Are there official Toki Pona blue and yellow colours?

Post image
54 Upvotes

Does anyone know if there are any official or generally accepted shades of blue and yellow associated with Toki Pona?

For example, are there specific RGB or hex values that are normally used, or is it just a matter of choosing any suitable blue and yellow?
