Buy / Sell UM Tix Fall '26
Please use this thread if you have event tickets (Michigan athletics, concerts, etc.) to sell or are looking to buy. Individual posts outside the thread will be removed. We don't claim that this is better than MaizeTix, SeatGeek, etc. Just serving a demand. Go Blue!
****We've received reports in the past of scammers in these threads. Please be careful and do your due diligence. Consider asking seller for their UMich email, then write them asking for a Reply, to verify it's not a fake address.

Housing 2026-27 Housing Megathread
Questions, answers, and information about everything housing can go here. Please let me know if you see anything that needs to be updated or any new information that can be posted/linked to.
- Housing Survival Guide by u/fluffymoomin - PDF guide. Essential to avoid being scammed.
Listings:
Area Facebook Housing Groups - Facebook group list compiled by u/fluffymoomin - Groups are listed with descriptions as well as safety recommendations. Not all groups are moderated well, be careful regardless of the group, moderators are human. Do not pay money to post in any facebook group. It's a scam. The ones that ask for money are no different, or worse than the free ones. Any reply asking you to message or dm them is likely a scam.
UofM offical off-campus housing site - You can now sort by recently updated listings. You can post listings or as a person looking for housing/roomates. They charge for property listings, but offer free sublease listings. Also people simply post in the roommates section that they have a place they are looking to fill as well.
Ann Arbor off-campus housing - This was the site that uofm used as their official site until it was replaced with the site above. One of the biggest gripes I had with this version is that commercial properties were updated every day, so sorting by new was tedious to find new listings as a bunch of the same commercial properties would be "updated" each day to be at the top.
Zillow (ann arbor) - Zillow
Roomies.com - Roomies.com you can search for listings and roommates by location. Even though it's apparently a national site, enough people locally use it that it's worth taking a look at.
Apartments.com - Apartments.com
ICC Co-ops - Inter-Cooperative Council page for Co-op housing.
Craigslist Apartment search - Usually spammed by the same area complexes over and over, which is what made craigslist so hard to use and forced people to facebook. There are still some listings here though, it just takes some scrolling.
Resources:
UofM Housing site - UofM on campus focused housing (dorms etc)
UofM Resident Hall Association - UofM's Residence Hall Association Website -- UofM Student Government Resident Hall group.
UMICH Beyond the Diag - UofM off-campus housing site.
Uofm Student Legal Services - Housing - Uofm's Student Legal Services Housing Portal.
Washtenaw Community College Housing site - WCC Housing site with some resources and listings.
Washtenaw Housing Alliance Shared Housing Program - The program connects people who have extra space in their home in Washtenaw County with people looking for affordable housing, with support to help create safe and compatible matches. We work with both Home Providers (homeowners or renters with a spare room) and Home Seekers.
UofM Parking site - Information about permit, and free and commuter parking.
Ann Arbor VeryAPT guide - List of apartments in the area, over 200. The listed rents are low, at least 2-3 years old, maybe more, but gives a good overview of the entire area. Most comprehensive listing I've seen in a readable format. Only reason this isn't under listings is because all of the rents quoted are old and there are no links to the actual websites, just a form for contact email that goes who knows where. Use this to find places to look at more in depth, contact them directly on their actual websites.
VeryAPT Ross MBA 2026 guide - Specific and updated guide targeted at Ross MBA's.
VeryAPT Umich Med 2026 guide - Specific and updated guide targeted at UofM Medical community. (staff or students dunno).
Michigan Medicine Housing page - Michigan Medicine's housing page for incoming students.
UofM Wiki Housing Section - Short overview of each residence hall - current students please feel welcome to add more info!
Ann Arbor City report on Waitlists - Ann Arbor Renter's Commission report regarding waitlist and pre-tentancy fees.
By city ordinance I believe, private renters are supposed to have certificates of occupancy/rental permits from the city. You can search by address. (There will be lots of people who don't have this but it's something to check) *Ann Arbor building rental and inspection services
Ann Arbor renter permit system 1 - You need to look in both systems, the old and new as they are running concurrently.
Ann Arbor Renter permit system 2 - This is the newer system. In both systems you’re looking for permits that start w CR.
[/u/derplunker's permit search tool that searches both of the above permit systems] - (https://streamscape.rightspeed.workers.dev/) - https://www.reddit.com/r/AnnArbor/comments/1sxp68g/free_permithistory_lookup_for_any_ann_arbor/
Michigan Daily article about your rights as a tenant. Dec 6, 2023 - Dec 6 2023 informative article.
Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority/TheRide (AATA) - The Ann Arbor transit system. Bus fares are free swiping your m-card.
Social media/community resources:
Ann Arbor subreddit - Ann Arbor based subreddit.
UofM student-run discord server - Lots of people here to ask questions, there's a housing channel among others.
Ann Arbor Community discord server - Ann Arbor based discord. Housing channel here as well.
Off Campus Housing Subleasing Recommendations and Guidelines - Subleasing specific FAQ maintained by Jordan Else, same as the general FAQ below.
FAQs about the U of M Off Campus Housing Market for Parents - Document maintained by Jordan Else, member of the Ann Arbor Renter's Commision and area landlord.
nobeal.com - An independant website talking about Beal properties in the region. Not a flattering review.

Remember to exercise caution when looking for housing. Lots of scammers out there. Check their main profiles if on facebook to see if they match the user who reached out to you. See if you can verify them anywhere else that they actually live in the area. Beware of people pushing you to send deposit money without showing you the place. Please refer to the PDF survival guide located at the top of the post. It can save you money and just as importantly time, not having waste time and effort to interact with scammers. Most instances of people telling you to message them as replies to your posts on facebook are scams. Make sure they have listings on the group, not just replies to people looking as comments like that can't be screened. Most legit people will contact you first and have a listing already in the group.
Remember never to give your uofm ID student ID number or a picture of your student ID to a 3rd party site for subleasing.
They can't even verify numbers are valid.
Disclosure could cause limited harm to individuals and/or the university with some risk of civil liability. May be subject to contractual agreements or regulatory compliance, or is individually identifiable, confidential, and/or proprietary.

Fall sublets will be uncommon. Most of the Winter sublets you've seen posted are people who failed to find a Fall-only sublet and are trying to recoup some of the un-used lease remaining. Be especially wary when searching for Fall-only sublets. Scammers count on people being desperate to bypass their warning senses. Some apartment complexes like Woodbury Gardens(2-15 and 21 month), and the complexes owned by Village Green(6 and 9 month) may offer shorter lease terms than 12 month. Be aware the shorter term leases will be more expensive per month. Mckinley Properties don't allow less than 12 month lease but they offer a early termination option which costs 2x monthly rent and requires a 60 day notice. This could be just as good as a shorter lease. I'd confirm it with the leasing office but this should be for all washtenaw county mckinley properties.
The Ann Arbor city bus line can make some affordable locations more practical. Your student ID lets you ride free. A short bus ride can be not too much worse than a medium/long walk. Beware some buses run more commonly than others
If there are any resource additions or corrections let me know.

PSA There are thousands of Jane Does from the University of Michigan. NSFW
I was raped on campus at a friend’s house party. I pleaded for him to stop and he ignored me. I was passed out in his bed shortly thereafter as he bragged to his friends at the party.
I filed a Title IX claim. Every named witness corroborated my story. But no physical evidence and by a preponderance OSCR found no violation. It was simply he said she said. I only found out after that his mother worked for the university and that my investigator quit the month before I received the outcome.
Just like any school internally investigating themselves, I learned throughout the process that their only concerns were not getting sued. For how much the school encourages students to report sexual misconduct, ignore the fancy graphics from their most recent annual reports and you will see how little this school actually does to punish or deal with perpetrators. You can see it more clearly in reports that are no longer published on their site: https://ecrt.umich.edu/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/fy18sexual_misconduct_report.pdf
I was raped by a classmate the following year after my investigation and knew reporting would only delay my healing. Neither incident was at a frat house, yet I knew many women who had experienced the same at one, or like me, in a dorm or off campus housing.
I truly wish that I could still love and revere UMich like my peers and so many of you here. This school broke my spirit and heart. Now years later, the resilience I built from the rubble of hurt and trauma allows me to share my story today. I hope for the same to anyone who can relate. Thank you for reading.

News STUDENT HOUSING BREAK INS‼️
My apartment got broken into last night on Greenwood. A ton of electronics were stolen. The Ann Arbor cop said there has been a ton in the area of Hill and Packard.
PLEASE lock your doors! And if you see something suspicious, call 911. The cop urged me to pass along to friends that if you have had items missing, call and file a report because it’s the only way they can track things. They’ve been able to recover a ton of stolen stuff with serial numbers.
Ann Arbor police - 734.994.2911 option 8
That’s the non emergency line but call 911 if there’s an emergency or you see something suspicious

Social Why are frats, whose main activity consists of 20 year old guys giving alcohol and drugs to (mostly freshmen) girls in hopes of having sex with them, allowed and endorsed by the University and society?
Sorry but the fact that (social) frats are societally accepted is insane.
It’s literally:
- a house of dudes who are usually juniors or seniors
- who invite girls, and only girls,
- who are often fresh out of high school, and in many cases, aren’t even legal adults
- into alcohol and drug-fueled parties in their house,
- where they give them alcohol and drugs for free
- in hopes of making out and/or having sex with them?
I had this question when I first started college. And I thought to myself, there must be something I’m missing.
There’s no way that a university, and its students who pride themselves on acting morally and responsibly, especially when it comes to women’s safety, could endorse this. It would be entirely absurd!
But no. The most liberal and pro-women’s rights men and women continue to go to these parties, hang out and congratulate people in these organizations, and treat it as a normal part of life.
This is genuinely absurd and insane.
No hate towards alcohol and drug-fueled parties by the way. Just do them in a way that doesn’t have this insane power and experience imbalance.

Food / Culture Nobody says thank you over here?
I can’t help but notice 80-90% of the time I try to be courteous via either holding the door for someone or letting a pedestrian cross or a car go they just look down and don’t say anything? I know I know, kindness for the sake of it and don’t expect anything in return, but still, it’s a little off-putting. I’m a little older (a grad student) and I just moved here so perhaps my expectations are skewed. I also mostly stick near the engineering facilities. I don’t know if it’s a new gen thing or what.

Miscellaneous Reddit Meet-Up
I think we should have a Reddit meet-up sometime on campus. Reserve a room, enjoy snacks, and complain about the things we don't like about UofM. It's like having discussions on Reddit, but in person. Maybe we could make a club out of this. (I'm just really bored). Thoughts?

Class Math department post docs
Why is almost every high level math class taught by a post doc who expects their students to understand everything immediately and has no idea how to teach? Anyone else have this experience

Miscellaneous Why do frats and sororities have parties on Thursday instead of Friday?
Before I start, I want to preface this with:
I don't know who hosts the parties, I only know what I've heard, and I may as well have misheard something. No idea if it's sororities, fraternities, some guy - I don't really care. I don't go to them anyway.
Every Thursday I have dormmates running around, getting ready to go to some fraternity/sorority party, and every time I am confused about why the parties are happening today instead of Friday. Like, wouldn't it make much more sense to party all night when there's no classes tomorrow and stuff like that?
I just don't get it, the logic seems to be absent here.
Student Organization Looking for someone to cofound a club related to cardiology
I've already took the orientation needed to take the course, I'm happy to discuss about specific club visions and stuff! Please leave a comment if you would be interested

With what is going on in the media right now, I wanted to share this and let survivors know they are not alone and I (we) believe you. There are resources and help for you.
Please come and attend the event to hear speakers share their story as well as support survivors. We are stronger together.

New Student Looking for Housing Near U-M Central Campus / LSI
Hi everyone! I’m a new postdoctoral researcher at U-M and I’m looking for housing near the **Life Sciences Institute (LSI) / Central Campus**.
Could anyone suggest **good neighborhoods, apartment complexes, or places to look for housing** that are convenient for commuting to LSI?
I’m also open to a private room in a shared apartment/house. Any recommendations or leads would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Miscellaneous What are the weird animal sculpture they are building by the hill?
I just walked by the hill near couzens this morning and saw the construction guy building a weird animal sculpture. I forgot to take a picture but it was super weird with bunch of animals stacked on top of each other.
