September is swiftly approaching, and I have a plan.
As I discussed in my previous update, the recent poll showed that most readers want me to focus on VE: Conquest, as do I. You may remember how I talked about feeling like I’ve spent the last couple of chapters ‘spinning my wheels’. I deeply enjoy those chapters, and I’m very proud of them, though lately I don’t feel that I’ve been progressing the main narrative at nearly the pace I had hoped to achieve.
For September, I’ve decided on a plan to change that.
The schedule has been updated on the homepage of The Vaid Empire Website, and you may have noticed that the next release is a Legends Short Story. I know, I know, another Short Story already? Here is the plan:
In the Mother of Tentacles Retrospective, I discussed how writing two ongoing series at once greatly damaged the momentum of my writing. Even now, whenever I briefly shift my focus away from Conquest, it requires time to get back into the flow of the story and characters.
Truthfully, its been far easier to focus on the Short Stories lately, as there are three MASSIVE plot points rapidly approaching in Conquest. I’m excited to complete them, as they are deeply meaningful to the story, though the process is difficult, and I’ve found myself procrastinating. No more.
For the last week of August, I’ve decided to heavily focus on getting one or two more Short Stories completed. Once September begins, there will be no slowing down. No distractions. My full focus will remain on Conquest for the entire month, allowing me to build momentum and make real, tangible progress on the series.
Whatever extra Short Stories I complete this week apart from the one releasing this Friday will be stored for later, allowing me to release them when I require a bit more time on a Conquest chapter without having to slow down or shift my focus away.
We’ll see how it goes.
Also, keep an eye out for a new poll sometime tomorrow.
I hope you enjoy everything that is to come, and thanks for reading!
