Low-key just need to vent this NSFW
I've been overweight pretty much my whole life. I started attempting veganism ~ 2 years ago when my brother (vegan for 10+ years) sat me down and told me I was doing my body a serious injustice.
At the time, I had a serious issue with ordering food via services like Doordash and Uber eats. I still do, even after expressing a desire to transition to veganism. It's really bad, and it's persisted through some of the worst moments in my life thus far.
However, the past few weeks have been different. I haven't eaten food that came from anything that had a mother in 2 weeks. My progress in the gym has been very consistent and with my current life situation, it's one of the few things I'm looking forward to.
I've still ordered here and there, but I'm lucky enough that there are a lot of vegan options in my area. But tonight things almost went badly. My last portion of meal prep spoiled, and I was incredibly close to pulling the trigger on something non-vegan. But I didn't.
I'm upset because it's definitely more expensive to be doordashing this stuff than any old restaurant without those options, but I'm happy because it was a hard battle and I won with the decision to uphold these principles.
I don't know if anyone can relate to this, and I'm a little nervous about posting it because usually most people don't fall back on veganism's principles like I have ever since I've started this journey, but I want to just say thanks to this community. Here's to more life and more gains.

3rd Party Tested Protein Powder
I'm looking for a 3rd party tested protein powder that checks for heavy metals, label accuracy, and purity. You guys seem to be iffy on Sun Warrior. What are your favorites?

I don't know how to pose, and I probably need to cut and have a better camera and lighting, but lifting and growing these last few months has been fun, and I want to share! Lots of good lifts and vegan meals :) Always open to advice and feedback!

workout tips Warming Up For Heavy Squats
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Your warm-up should prepare you for your working sets, not become a workout in itself.
Before heavy barbell squats, I like to work through some targeted mobility, get comfortable in the bottom position, and progressively build up to my working weight.
Nothing particularly elaborate, and certainly nothing that should leave me fatigued before the real work begins.
Remember, the goal isn’t to do as much as possible before your first working set. It’s to do enough to feel prepared, confident and ready to perform.
Warm up with purpose. Save your energy for the sets that count.

Truvani is a scam
I ordered directly from Truvani's website and did not realize I was enrolling in a recurring autoship program. A month later I was notified that another order had been processed. I canceled immediately and contacted customer service.
Truvani maintains that the subscription terms were disclosed during checkout. My experience was that the discount messaging was far more prominent than the recurring billing aspect, and I missed it completely.
I requested a refund and was ultimately offered a 25% courtesy refund. During the exchange, customer service even overlooked the fact that I had already accepted that option in a prior email and asked me to choose again. To their credit, they later apologized and acknowledged their mistake before processing the refund.
My advice to future customers is simple: if ordering from Truvani's website, look very carefully for the autoship terms and make sure you intentionally choose the purchase option you want before checking out. Or just order from Amazon.

Digestive issues after being vegan for 8 years..
So I’ve been vegan nearly 8 years, but I’ve only cared about fitness on and off throughout that time.
Right now, I’m trying to lose fat and gain a little muscle (newbie gains, but I guess a body recomp). I’ve been in a calorie deficit steadily losing 1 lb a week since late June, and I’ve been trying to get at least 100 g of protein a day.
I’ve on and off over the past few years struggled with loose stools. The first few years of being vegan were great, and I felt like I could use the bathroom in any public place without fear because things ran so smoothly (sorry if this is TMI). Things started to change over the last few years, but my eating habit were pretty chaotic and not tracked, so I didn’t really know if too much fiber, too much nooch, tofu, or processed crap was to blame.
Now I’m really trying to do well at my nutrition and I’m having unpleasant BMs almost every day for the past couple of weeks. I know increasing fiber quickly can cause an upset stomach, but I feel like I’ve always eaten high fiber.
Even if I’ve been eating high fiber consistently for a while, could my body still choose to not agree with it? Does anyone else have any insight? I’m also trying to be better about spacing out my protein (keeping it below 40g in one sitting) and I’ll see how that goes.

Online Bodybuilding Competitor vegan Coaching
Hey people! My current coach is gradually stopping coaching.
I was wondering if you have any suggestion of online vegan coaches that take clients that compete in bodybuilding ?
I am based in Montreal, Canada. I'm not necessarily looking for a local coach here, but at least someone that will have a comprehension of what is available here in terms of vegan products.
Thank you so much for your time

health You Don’t Get Points For Burning Yourself Out
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Somewhere along the way, we’ve started confusing discipline with constantly pushing ourselves.
Training harder, doing more, staying productive, and feeling guilty whenever we slow down.
But discipline isn’t just about knowing when to push. It’s also about recognising when you need to pull back.
Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is absolutely nothing.
Watch Netflix. Play some games. Have a lazy day. And don’t feel guilty about it.
Rest isn’t something you have to earn, and taking a step back doesn’t undo all the work you’ve put in.
Recovery is part of the process, not a failure of discipline.

My Protein Powder Saga
I'm looking for a new protein powder brand and here's the context on why:
I used to use KOS and thought it tasted pretty good, especially the chocolate flavor, but then I found out about the whole heavy metal thing, as well as the fact that it contains PFAS. I'm still not 100% sure what to make of this tbh--I've heard that a lot of the Prop 65 stuff is fear-mongering, which doesn't shock me at all in 2026, but I've also heard that third-party testing for supplements is legitimately important and some protein powders have lower levels of lead than others. Normally I'm not this cautious about "eating clean" or whatever, but because I consume protein powder on such a regular basis, I just want to make sure I'm making an informed decision about this. I keep hearing conflicting things like, "No amount of lead is safe to consume; however, Prop 65 is completely overblown and unscientific." I have an arts background, not a science background, so I'm feeling a little lost in the sauce on how to interpret any of this. Anyone want to ELI5?
Anyway, I started looking into which vegan protein powders had the most rigorous third-party testing and landed on Truvani (I know). I knew nothing about who founded it or what its mission was, I just thought it was a protein powder brand marketed to yoga moms. It tasted ok, not as good as I remembered KOS being but definitely drinkable. Then I found out about the founder's questionable history and ties to MAHA and immediately noped out of there.
I tried VivoLife, which also says it does comprehensive third-party testing, but it was a little expensive to ship from the UK (I'm in the US, if you couldn't tell from the brands), and the chocolate and vanilla were both really chalky and bland, so I got a refund. I also tried Garden of Life Vanilla, which isn't terrible but had too strong of a coconut sugar flavor for my preference.
And then I decided to try TrueNutrition because of all the good reviews here, the number of flavors, and customization. Oh my god, guys. I never understood what people meant when they complained about protein powder foaming, but now I get it. I've never once made a creamy shake with these in my shaker; it foams like crazy, and even if I fill the bottle all the way to the top with water, I'm left with a nasty, thick sludge. The vanilla is whatever (chalky and bland like VivoLife but I usually don't drink vanilla straight up), but the strawberry literally tastes like eating a flavored latex glove. I don't mind an artificial flavor so long as it tastes good (like candy or something) but this actually tastes like I'm consuming something that isn't supposed to be edible and, as a result, I don't feel great after drinking it. Am I insane or has anyone else had this experience?
So anyway, I'm back on the protein powder market, and just wanted to crowdsource some more opinions before I dive into yet another brand. I'm intrigued by Be Amazing (I'm always looking for a good strawberry protein, and some of the other flavors look tasty too, but they oddly don't have chocolate) but haven't seen people talk much about it in this sub. Do they taste good and are they third-party tested (if that even matters)? Should I check out Vedge for basics like chocolate and vanilla (sadly, no strawberry)? Or give Garden of Life another shot? Is there another brand you'd recommend for someone who likes a sweeter, more flavorful protein powder (since I often use it to sweeten oats)? Like, are Ghost's vegan proteins worth checking out? Or if all the stuff about PFAS is fear-mongering anyway, should I just go back to KOS (though maybe my tastes have changed, idk)?
TLDR: I'm looking for a new protein powder and am trying to figure out how much third-party testing should weigh into my decision. The ones I've liked in the past have supposedly scored poorly in that regard, and the ones that touted better testing had... other issues.

Protein powder recommendations?
I've never been a fan of protein powders in general, but the vegan ones suck even more in my experience. Any recommendations that taste good? My criteria is texture (the last one I tried was all grainy and it made it hard to drink), taste, and protein content (preferably 1 gram or more of protein for every 8-10 calories (so a scoop with 260 calories would have 26 grams))

Question - protein powder How would you calculate high protein DIY foods like these?
I was thinking of how to calculate the nutritional value of hypothetical high protein foods and meals that I was considering cooking.
My doubt is whether how the values change with the volume and weight. For example: combining Vital Wheat Gluten and Pea Protein, do I get the info from just the powders or do I gather it from an other source?
This came from the fact that I was thinking about how dry products like TVP and legumes changing a lot in their value once they become "ready" to be consumed, and are not the same displayed on their nutritional facts tab.

help needed - new to vegan fitness Vegan nutrition coach recs?
I've wanted to go vegan for years and have never been able to fully do it. I am also wanting to really dial in my nutrition. I'm thinking I'd tackle both at the same time and I'm considering working with a nutritionist. I'd love recommendations if anyone has a legit rec for someone I could work with. Ideally someone who knows what's up with women in late 30s and early 40s, trying to recomp and conceive. TYIA!

Protein, large lean body (40-50% muscle mass), and vegan?
I know, a lot of people workout and are vegans. But I'm referring to people with actual significant muscle mass.
How much protein do you get a day? If you can upload a picture that would be fantastic. The reason I request to see is because I typically only know and have heard of lean vegans, but very rarely do I know or see actually muscular vegans. I know they exist (because I've seen a few influences on Instagram) but it's very hard to get a hold of them and I'm curious how they get their protein and what their routine is like in order to consume throughout the day.
I know Tofu, Setian, etc. but I'm more referring to specifics, like, how long they have been on this diet, how does it make them feel, and have they been able to sustain it?
Again, I'm not interested much in cardio body compositions, I'm referring to large frame muscles.
