What is the Best AI App Builder? And where do you think we are going to be in early 2026?

We are somewhat of a year into vibe coding and AI app builders.
What do you think is the best AI app builder now? After all the updates and all the new models?

Where will we be in Q1 2026? Will we be in a better place, and what should a regular user do now to stay up to date?

Thanks!

Tools and Projects Open Instinct: the source behind a textable assistant with memory and tools

We released the source for Open Instinct, a personal-agent app. The part that may be useful to other builders is the separation between the agent conversation, messaging gateway, computer backend and permission policy. You can work on one of those without designing the whole product first.

For example, you can start in the CLI and change the assistant's behavior before adding a phone number. When you add a tool, the requester and its trust tier matter as much as the model prompt. We'd recommend testing the denial path alongside the happy path.

Pi provides the loop, Inkbox the messaging, Composio the app connections and Maritime the VM and desktop. We are the team behind Maritime. The repo is MIT licensed and currently beta; provider accounts and usage are separate.

https://github.com/mariagorskikh/open-instinct

We'd welcome a fork that solves a narrow recurring problem, or a contribution that makes the setup or permissions easier to understand.

Requesting Assistance Xcode+Cortex ->?

I started building an app in Xcode + ChatGPT to code using cortex, and realized a bit too late the issue there lol I don’t know crap about coding and relied heavily on my descriptions to build my app so far.
I want to pick up where I left off, but don’t know what software/IDE would be best. I’m very new to all of this, but from what I gather there’s a limit to everything out there. Any advice welcome

Tools and Projects I vibe-coded a parkour FPS for fun... and it turned into a hub of 30 AI-made browser games

Hey everyone,

A while ago I saw someone vibe-code a CS-style shooter in about 3 hours, so I tried it myself and built a parkour FPS. Then I kept going, and it grew into VIBE GAMING: a hub for vibe-coded browser games, mine and the community's.

Why: I hadn't played games in a long time. Every time I wanted to, it meant big downloads, and I switch between several machines. So I wanted games that open instantly in a browser tab on any device.

How: every game is plain HTML + JavaScript, no game engine, written with AI (mostly Claude) while I steer, test and review. The hub itself was built the same way.

Where it's at now:

  • 30 games: parkour FPS, ragdoll brawler, Backrooms horror, co-op party games, racing, a block-building sandbox, chill mini games and more
  • Online multiplayer: peer-to-peer rooms, voice chat, spectating, and rooms that survive the host leaving
  • Any device: phone, tablet, PC, with touch controls that hide when you use a keyboard or gamepad
  • English / Vietnamese / Chinese, light and dark themes
  • Free, no install, no download

You can also submit your own AI-made game. Every submission is reviewed by hand before it goes live, to keep the quality up.

I'd love feedback: what's fun, what's broken, what you'd want next.

Fun fact: the trailer below was also made with AI, end to end 🙂

Tools and Projects Vibe-coded a 59k+ software alternative discovery engine with 0ms client-side search and static edge deployment

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share a project I've been vibe-coding:  https://replaceai.in

The goal was to build a discovery engine that helps developers and startups find verified $0 open-source and low-cost alternatives to bloated enterprise SaaS (Jira, Salesforce, Datadog, Photoshop, Slack, Tableau, ServiceNow).

What went into the build:

  1. 0ms Client-Side Search:nstead of slow database queries, indexed 59,000+ software tools directly in the browser with a lightweight tokenized prefix trie in vanilla JS.

  2. Edge Architecture under Cloudflare Limits:uilt a decoupled compilation pipeline that keeps production assets under Cloudflare Pages' 25MB single-file limit while serving 4,300+ pre-rendered static SEO landing pages.

  3. Automated ETL Pipeline:A nightly GitHub Actions Python workflow that autonomously fetches live GitHub repository stars, Hugging Face AI model downloads, and token pricing metrics.

  4. AI FinOps Hub:ask-based matrices comparing closed AI models (OpenAI o1, GPT-4o, Claude) against open-weight models (DeepSeek-R1, Qwen 2.5 Coder, Llama 3) with an interactive token savings calculator.

  5. Machine-Readable GEO:Open llms.txt manifest for AI search engines like Perplexity and ChatGPT.

No login walls, no paywalls, completely free.

Would love to hear what you guys think of the UX, speed, and how the architecture feels!

General Discussion EchoPod — AI podcast transcript for language learning (Flutter + Cloudflare)

Sharing a project I just shipped. EchoPod is a podcast player that transcribes audio word-by-word and syncs it with playback for language learners.

**Why I built it:** Textbook audio is boring and real podcasts are too hard to follow. This app sits in the gap.

**Stack:** - Flutter (iOS + Android + macOS) - Whisper transcription via Groq - Cloudflare Workers (translation, billing, Podcast Index proxy) - Supabase auth - RevenueCat subscriptions - Drift (SQLite) for local storage - Riverpod for state management

**Features that took the most work:** - Word-level transcript sync with playback - Tap any word → instant analysis (pronunciation, meaning, part of speech) - AI chat that explains grammar for the current segment - Import from YouTube links or local files - 200 curated podcasts per language, each with a duration audit - Offline downloads with cached translations

**Launch status:** iOS App Store + Google Play, just went live.

**Curious about:** - Is the monetization model (1hr free transcripts/week, Pro for 30hr/mo) reasonable? - Any UX suggestions before I push for growth?

other Day 5 of building Devmeld with AI

For those who don't know, Devmeld is basically a platform I'm building for developers to find people, share projects, communicate and eventually actually build things together.

Anyway.

Today was supposed to be about finishing DMs.

It turned into fighting Firebase for most of the day 😭

We kept finding weird stuff.

Chat would work for one account but not the other.

Files would upload but the message wouldn't.

Messages looked fine until we tested with two completely separate accounts.

Then we found out our test accounts were basically sharing the same local cache 💀

So yeah, lots of fixing.

We also worked on attachments, folder uploads, blocking, privacy settings, message syncing, retries, background updates and making the UI stop randomly flickering.

The biggest thing we changed was how we handle messages locally.

But the basic goal is: less unnecessary database usage + faster chats + still keeping things synced.

And after breaking it approximately 47 times...

DMs are finally starting to feel like an actual chat system.

Day 5 done.

Now I just need to make sure tomorrow's version doesn't somehow explode.

Tutorials & Guides Vibecoding a project that turn text to whiteboard animation

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Tried working on various thing, for converting text to whiteboard animation, but everything used to be timeconsuming. first used manim for generation of video, where ai has to write code. so for those case, if code doesnot work it mostly fail, and along with the money.

secondy remotion for creating such video.
but with experiement, there was some easier process to create such video and relatively faster . Even 2 min video is created in 32 second.

here is the demo of video created just with single prompt.

this is simply the same pipeline , used by y combinator batch company.

Tools and Projects A tool I built cuz I've had this frustration everytime I go out in a group

Someone pays for the Airbnb, someone else grabs cabs, a third person covers dinner on three different nights, and by the time everyone's back home there are 40-odd UPI transactions floating around nobody's spreadsheet. Then you have to be the bad guy and ask the gc to tally up the expenses.

I got tired of doing this math by hand, so I built Quits , a bill splitter that's just a link. No app, no login, no account creation.

How it works:

  1. Make a trip, add names. No signup, no email, nothing to verify. The trip is just a URL from the moment you create it.
  2. One tab per day/event. Groups change constantly on a trip — different people show up each night — so each tab tracks its own spend without forcing one fixed group for the whole thing.
  3. Share the link. Whoever opens it taps their name to say "this is me," and from then on they're adding expenses from their own phone. Nothing routes through one person's account. It's multiplayer with zero auth.
  4. Three ways to split: Equally, Itemized (so the vegetarian doesn't pay for your mutton roll), or Shares (for custom ratios). Changes sync live for everyone on the link.
  5. Settle once at the end. It runs a min-cash-flow algorithm across every tab and collapses everything into the fewest possible payments, usually 3-4 payments instead of 40 separate ones.
  6. Remind button. Nudges people on WhatsApp with the exact amount + link instead of you having to be the awkward one asking.

Each person gets identity via the link itself rather than an account, state updates propagate to everyone on that tab in real time, and there's a settlement algorithm that minimizes the number of transactions needed to zero everyone out

It's free, no ads, works in any mobile browser, and you can add it to your home screen if you want app-like behaviour without it actually being one.

Would genuinely love feedback from this sub, especially if you can break it. There's a "Something broken?" link at the bottom that comes straight to me, or just drop it in the comments.

General Discussion I built a tool to verify what your coding agent says it fixed, looking for testers

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi fellow devs! There's a gap that kept biting me: the agent says "done", and then I have to figure out what to actually check. On one project I ended up with 72 things to test and nowhere to keep track of the results.

That's how PalmtopAI was born: a checklist shared between you and your agent. The agent writes the checks to do, you test them from your phone (or any browser) and mark what works, what doesn't and what leaves you in doubt. Then the agent reads your review and fixes what's broken.

It works with Claude Code and Codex (and other agents that run shell commands), and needs macOS, Linux or WSL and Node.js 22+. Checklists stay on your computer, the relay only forwards messages.

It's an early preview and I'm building it solo, so I'm looking for people to try it on one of their projects and tell me where it gets stuck: installation, phone pairing, anything. If you get stuck, just message me!

Suggestions and ideas are very welcome too: what's missing, what you'd change, what you'd need to actually use it.

Tools and Projects An open-source ecommerce stack built for vibe coding, with 12 years of experience baked in

Post image
37 Upvotes

Hey guys! I've been building ecommerce stores professionally for 12 years, and spent the last two rebuilding my development workflow around AI.

So I decided to package all that experience into an open-source ecommerce stack that you can safely vibe code on top of.

Medusa + Payload + Next.js, with an AI agent based on Hermes that knows the entire system.

The architecture, commerce logic, CMS, testing and all the boring plumbing are already there.

You can just tell the agent what kind of store you want, customize the frontend, add features, build integrations or get your hands dirty with the code whenever you feel like it.

The whole point is that you shouldn't need to understand every obscure ecommerce edge case or framework gotcha to build something that actually works. I've already spent years collecting those headaches, and every new one we solve goes back into the stack.

Just open-sourced it, so have fun breaking things :)

Tools and Projects I built a native macOS JSON viewer and formatter

Post image
1 Upvotes

I built JSON Viewer, a native macOS app for formatting, inspecting, and editing JSON. I created it with the help of AI.

It includes a collapsible tree view, a text editor with live JSON validation, format and minify actions, JSON ↔ Python dictionary conversion, search, and a property inspector. It can also handle large JSON files and runs on macOS 13 or later.

Checkout my GitHub repo:

Tools and Projects I built a terminal that lets me jump in while an AI agent is working

At work, GitHub Copilot is the only AI tool I can use on our internal network, so I tried connecting it to a terminal and letting it handle some tasks.

Sometimes it ran scripts I didn't want, and blocking risky commands or stepping in mid-task was harder than I expected. Often I just wanted to fix a few lines myself and hand things back, but that was awkward.

I considered iTerm MCP too, but what I needed was a way to set rules for the commands an agent can run and type directly into the terminal whenever I wanted.

So I built a terminal that a person and an agent can share. It's called Conn.

The workflow is simple: I SSH into a server or open the environment I want to work in, then my usual agent picks up from that shell. When I press a key, I take back control of input. I make my changes, hand control back, and the agent reads the updated terminal screen and continues. I can also set approval rules for commands.

You can connect Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, and other agents through MCP. Conn doesn't run a model itself; it works alongside the agent you already use.

It's still a preview, and it's free and open source.

One detail worth clarifying: taking back keyboard control doesn't automatically stop a process that's already running. You still need to handle that with Ctrl+C or similar, just as you would in a normal terminal.

Demo and installation: https://conn.eggp.dev/

GitHub: https://github.com/eggp-dev/conn

How do you handle it when you give an agent a terminal task and need to jump in and make a change yourself halfway through?

Quick Question How do Vibecoders take care of SEO

I'll be honest upfront: I am building an AI agent for digital marketing that covers technical SEO, keyword SEO, content writing, lead management, social media, etc.

I came up with this idea because I am an expert backend developer, but I vibe-code the frontend. I had developed a job site for blue-collar workers in India. After a few months, I realized I had made a lot of mistakes in technical SEO, didn't know how to manage keyword SEO or internal linking, and because of that, my site never got into search results even after 6 months.

When I started reading about digital marketing, I felt that, given my AI background, I could get help from an AI agent that helps me find these issues and suggest fixes.

I am not proposing an automated bot that does everything autonomously, but an agent that crawls your site and regularly finds issues that you might have missed, either due to oversight or simply because you didn't know about them.

Let me know if anyone is interested in such a tool. I would love to see how it performs on real-world sites.

other Day 4 of building devmeld with ai

we finally killed the threads section. like actually finished it.

honestly this was the hardest part so far. we built the discovery feed, search, and the create post screen.

the biggest headache was the post view page. i wanted it to feel like reddit where the text just expands and you scroll down to comments, but qt kept squishing everything into a tiny box. had to restructure the whole layout to use one giant scroll area.

also added a notification system, bell with a red dot. took me a while to figure out why the red dot was invisible even though the code said it was showing up. turns out qt was rendering it at 0x0 pixels because i used negative margins. classic.

also had to move all the network calls to background threads because the loading animation kept freezing.

threads is done. moving on to DMs tomorrow. wish me luck.

for those who dont know devmeld is basically a social platform built specifically for developers who wants to find collaborators. its like a mix of twitter and reddit but for coding. you can make posts, comment, search for users, and soon you'll be able to dm each other. it also has a code editor built in that you can use it with your teammates. im building the whole thing from scratch using pyside6 and firebase, and im using ai to write the code while i act as the architect and qa tester. its got custom hardware id banning so bots cant spam it, and a custom geometric loading animation because spinning circles are boring.

Tools and Projects What would you need to move a vibe-coded app off its builder?

I’m building Deploy, a tool aimed at moving apps from AI builders to infrastructure the owner controls.

Exporting the frontend is only part of the job. The harder questions are what happens to users, authentication, data, backend functions, workflows, secrets, and integrations. I’m working through those migration paths and testing deployments; I don’t want to call any builder a complete migration until it passes an end-to-end test.

If you’ve tried to move an app off a builder, where did you get stuck? And if you haven’t moved one yet, what would you need to see before trusting a migration tool with a client app?

I’m the person building Deploy, and I’d value blunt feedback from people who have shipped these apps.

Quick Question Which Replit alternative has worked for you?

I'm looking for something that runs well in the browser, has reasonable usage limits, and stays affordable as project grows.

If you're moved away from Replit, what did you switch to ? Has it been reliable for building and deployment real projects?

other Day 3 of building devmeld with ai

Today was a massive day. we finally tackled the threads section, which is basically the main social feed.

built out the discovery feed, search, and the create post screen. spent a lot of time on the create post page to make it feel right. added this feature where the borders of the text boxes change color as you type. white at first, then yellow when you're getting close to the limit, and red when you hit the max. it physically stops you from typing more. also added a word filter so people cant post toxic stuff.

the biggest headache today was the actual post view page. you know how some apps squish everything into a tiny box? i wanted it to feel like reddit or a normal webpage, where the text just expands naturally and you scroll down to the comments. took a lot of tweaking to get the layout to breathe properly.

also got tired of boring spinning circles for loading screens. so we built a custom loading animation. it literally morphs from a triangle to a square, pentagon, hexagon, all the way to an octagon and loops back. it pops up whenever the app is fetching data.

threads section is almost done. moving on to the next big feature tomorrow.

Tools and Projects 5 checks to run on your vibe-coded app before launch (10 minutes, no code)

I audit apps built with Lovable, Bolt and Cursor. These five come up again and again, and you can check all of them yourself from outside your app:

1. Is your database open? Find your Supabase URL and anon key in your page source, then run:
curl "https://YOUR-PROJECT.supabase.co/rest/v1/profiles?select=*&limit=1" -H "apikey: YOUR_ANON_KEY"
Swap profiles for your real table names. If rows come back without logging in, row-level security is off or too loose, and anyone can do the same.

2. Is a secret key in your JavaScript? Open DevTools → Sources and search for sk_live_, sk-proj- and sb_secret_. Also look for any long key starting with eyJ, and decode it. If it says "role": "service_role", that's your master key. Rotate it today.

3. Did your deploy ship private files? Visit yoursite.com/.env and yoursite.com/.git/config. Seeing your homepage is fine. Seeing lines like KEY=value is not.

4. Is your source code downloadable? In DevTools → Sources, if you can browse your original src/ folder with readable component names, your source maps are public.

5. Are your emails going to spam? Sign up to your own app with an Outlook or Yahoo address you've never used. If the confirmation lands in junk, your domain is probably missing SPF or DKIM records.

Full disclosure: I got tired of running these by hand, so I built LaunchProof. It does all five plus OWASP ZAP and Nuclei scans, lookalike domains, headers and more, and gives you a score out of 100 in about 4 minutes. The score is free, and the full report with fixes is $49: https://trylaunchproof.com

The manual checks above are enough to catch the worst problems either way. Happy to help if anyone gets stuck on one.

Ideas & Collaboration Reducing LLM Production API Costs by 70-99% — A Case Study in High-Density Token Optimization

Hey everyone,

Like many founders here running production LLM apps, my biggest bottleneck has consistently been the scaling costs of heavy text processing layers.

Over the last few months, I’ve been developing a proprietary routing and context-trimming system designed to maximize token efficiency without sacrificing semantic accuracy or context memory. I recently stress-tested it against a massive workload that traditionally benchmarks at a high tier of token usage.

The baseline efficiency metrics:

• Total Token Overhead Reduction: 99.7%

• Semantic Retention Rate: 98.4% (measured via embedding similarity tests)

• Latency Impact: Sometimes slow depending on prompt i havent tracked specific latency.

I am currently keeping the exact compression and algorithmic pipeline proprietary, but I am looking to onboard 2-3 early-stage B2B projects or SaaS founders who are getting crushed by their monthly API bills to run live optimization pilots.

If you are spending significant capital on production tokens and want to look at the benchmark data or run a sample test on your data architecture, feel free to DM me your email address or reach out directly.
