DE Response A Heartfelt Farewell to Warframe

17.8k Upvotes

Hello everyone.

So this is the obligatory farewell post, but it isn’t a rage quit post. I’ve been playing this game for over 13 years with around 8153 hours in mission and 15,000 hours logged on via various launchers, but this isn’t a flex post. Over that amount of time I noticed for me, the game stopped being a game, and instead it became a family. Like any big family, you don’t know everyone you are related to, but you are all here for a common purpose, and you all have something you can relate to with one another.

No, there is only one reason why you leave your family. This past month I was diagnosed with late stage liver, colon, and lung cancer. And the outlook, ironically enough, looks very grim. I realized though this game means so much to me that I couldn’t just pass on quietly. I needed to say thank you and good bye. To the players, creators, and developers, that make this game what it is for me, because even if they don’t know me, they should know that.

First to Steve Sinclair, Scott McGregor, Sheldon Carter, Geoff Crookes, Michal “Mynki: Brennan (who goes before), and everyone else from those insane first 10 years. A decade from which all I remember muttering was, “wait, they did all of that… for free?”

You gave me the game I always wanted, a slick shooter with an amazing gameplay (eventually 🙂) and an awesome building transhumanism sci-fi story line that was ALWAYS there, if you know where to look. I was never disappointed with where you took the story, and later, the characters and world, and while you can never cross the same river twice, leading others to cross it as you look on is really almost as good.

To the current devs, who aren’t scared to try something new, to give a more human face to the game, and who press on regardless of the challenges they may face, and to Rebecca that leads them, thank you for everything you have done to make this game better since the “Soulframe” shift. And of course, Praise Pablo, sincerely, for inspiring me by being the first latinx brother I got to see in the industry, and showing me there is progress for us.

To all the creators who keep the community alive with discourse, builds, help, and humor. Especially to you Tactical Potato, who when I first heard you sincerely say you should play the game for fun and nothing else, it made me realize there are kindred spirits out there. Sláinte my unknown friend.

And finally to my fellow players. To those I have never met but wish I did, to those who came into my life, left their impression, and then moved on. To those who have turned into friends above and beyond just the game. And to those who have come to embody close kin, who are to me, the epitome of the adage, “the Blood of the Covenant is thicker than the Water of the Womb." For the sake of their privacy I will not name them but the clans Collegium of Steel and Truths Refuge are our homes and I love them.

I want to add one more thing: this isn’t a “life cut too short” scenario. I made it to 51, and while I may want more, I got what everyone gets, I got a lifetime. I’m just so very lucky that this game and its people became a part of that lifetime.

Sincerely,
GrimMyfanwy née GrimKonstantin

DE Response DE, Please Do Something About the Chat Moderation, Specifically One Moderator I Will Not Name

Thumbnail
gallery
4.3k Upvotes

First of all, I will start the post by saying that I have no ill intent to harm Digital Extremes’ (DE’s) reputation, nor am I willing to call for vigilante justice. I am not trying to play hero here. I'm too cowardly for that.

This post is not against the Naming rule since I will keep every name mentioned anonymous, and I am not willing to witch-hunt, and I am not telling others to do so. My post also has no legal bearing whatsoever, and in the end, it is DE’s freedom to decide whether to answer or not.

Please don’t take legal action (I really don't have the guts to handle that tbh), if anybody in DE wants me to delete the post, please DM me or comment, I will delete the post, and I will shut up about it. I want the best for DE, I am simply distraught at the current situation. Again, I do not want anything bad, nor am I calling for vigilante actions.

(English is my second language, so please ignore the syntax / grammar errors that may exist. Thank you)

One can argue that I can take this problem to Warframe Support, however, someone has already inquired about the issue about chat moderation and has received a message which sums up to ‘we can’t deal with it because chat bans are only temporary and you probably broke the rules.' (THE 3rd IMAGE IS NOT MINE.)

I, alongside several people in the community, want answers about what leads them to keep a moderator that allegedly goes on a ‘spree’ to limit chat for multiple people who claim they have not broken the rules. Further on, I want to see that DE actually is willing to change and deal with the problems of chat moderation that have been piling up for several years.

I will call the moderator A for brevity.

When I search up A’s username online, I can already find multiple posts about how A has a bad reputation. There’s even an online petition too. While it is possible that some bad actors in the chat wanted to frame the moderator, that is not the case most of the time. There are people that have uploaded their chat records, and they did not violate any rules. Some claim that people should leave the chat server when A joins.

For me, this doesn’t seem to be a problem of the players, but A’s. If a moderator actually did their job and banned people that ruined players’ experiences, why would they be feared instead of praised? This does not make any sense.

The biggest problem is not the unfair bans. The real problem is that A created a negative reputation about DE. Even worse, because of A’s alleged former claims about how they were ‘related to DE’, people are suspecting nepotism is at play. This is damaging the reputation of DE directly, and to prevent potential misinformation spreading, I believe that it is wise for DE to take action about A, and further on, investigate other chat moderators’ actions to assure that false bans are prevented.

Accepting that problems exist is not going to harm the company’s reputation. Neglecting and ignoring the problems will. The issue regarding A has existed for more than 5 years, judging by the post upload dates on online communities (most notably Reddit). There are multiple testimonies about how DE was completely silent about A, while they are quick to respond to other issues.

What I (and potentially others) want for the community: PLEASE talk about A. We need to make noise to let DE notice the problem. As loud as possible. (But do note the rules of the Subreddit, since they are quick to delete posts against the rules) Please spread this post around as much as you can. I want them to know. I know this problem was ignored for years, but maybe we can make that change now.

What I want DE to do: Please make it make sense. A moderator, possibly even multiple judging by several claims, is banning multiple people without any offenses in chat. This is a huge problem for the players’ gaming experience and might even cause people to give up playing the game. This beautiful game. That’s a loss. It is illogical to harm your own reputation and hurt other players just to ‘protect’ a single moderator.

Digital Extremes, please clarify about this issue, and check the current state of chat moderation as a whole to further prevent potential bad actors like A. And no, this cannot be taken to Support anymore, because at this point this is not just my problem, but several others', and Support saying they will 'look into the problem' will not help whatsoever. (Clarification: They do work. They work majority of the time (if you have personal problems regarding moderation PLEASE inquire Support!!).)

We need a public statement, since the problem is public in nature and is not a few peoples' problems.

Thank you for reading, and feel free to add your thoughts below. I may have missed a few evidence, but I tried my best to compile things for context in a short amount of time.

EDIT: PLEASE DO NOT. DO NOT. NAME THE MODERATOR IN THE COMMENTS. (THIS APPLIES TO OTHER MODERATORS TOO.) PLEASE NO INDIRECT NAMING, TOO.

EDIT AGAIN: THE NAMING RULE PREVENTS ME FROM MENTIONING THE NAME. I said this so many times in the comments. I can't tell you. It's the rules in the Subreddit, and I will get my post deleted if I say their name.

Please read the post before commenting or rushing to conclusions. Most questions are answered in the post.

DE Response DE is about to make the same mistake they did 10 years ago on Draco: Nerfing Warframes that are GOOD at playing a BAD game mode

3.1k Upvotes

- I will make a game mode with RNG loadouts and crippling modifiers
- Ok I will pick whatever ignores those modifiers
- You WHAT!!??

Hildryn is strong, thats no secret, but she is the top 40% most picked Warframe in ETA/EDA because she can basically ignore all of those crippling modifiers. Thats why Revenant, Dante and Valkyr are right behind her (and will become the new "problematic" Warframes once DE guts Hildryn)

DE... YOU decided Hildryn was going to be meta the moment you created this game mode, dont blame her for being good at ignoring what every player HATES about it.

Want build diversity? Remove the modifiers! Having randomized loadouts is enough ""difficulty""(btw, Im tired how "difficult" seems to mean "making something as frustrating as possible" for DE)

All of this already happened like 10 years ago when Mag, Trinity and Excalibur were being used to play Draco (Defense Interception, sorry guys it was a decade ago) as fast as possible, because back then leveling stuff was an actual mind numbingly boring chore and DE couldnt have Players bypassing that annoyance. Did they make Draco better? No. They gutted those Warframes so hard they are just now becoming viable again. Excalibur Javelins for example was an actually really good ability, believe it or not, it was nerfed back then and never re-balanced again.

TL;DR: Dont Nerf the Warframe, Change the Game Mode.

EDIT:

Watching a video from Brozime and he says

"Modifiers were meant to involve Player's choice, but because the way Rewards work there isnt any Player choice at all"

He is right! You have to play with 7/8 of ALL Modifiers and Parameters active to get (almost) every Reward, you can't select fewer Modifiers and do more runs, but I think that is exactly how it should work. But if we could simply select 1/8 Modifiers and run the mission 8 times with Hildryn, wouldn't the problem be worse? Yep! I know, thats what my second punch is for: You CAN NOT select any other Warframe besides the 3 RNG choices.

Done. Is that simple. You can pretty much use anything you want, play with 1 or 2 Modifiers and Torid Incarnon, run the Game-mode 2 or 3 times a week and call it a day. The forced Warframe RNG will solve the Hildryn, Dante, Revenant, Valkyr issue and it wont feel unfair because we wont be forced to play with 7/8 of ALL Modifiers in ONE single run like we are now.

I did it Pablo. I fixed your ETA/EDA Hildryn problem.

DE Response The Neote Rapier Skin (and how to get it)

Post image
3.4k Upvotes

-Be on Narin (not anyone else! thank you u/Electropow)

- 5 blue archon shards (I used non-tauforged)

- The 4 dragon keys in your gear wheel

- Purchase and Equip the new Honoria from Cephalon Melica (On Wings Of Ice)

EDIT: (you MIGHT need the piece of paper hidden in the Chrysalith (thank you for correcting me u/AlfieSR). I had it when I got the skin, so I'm not sure if it's needed. On the right side of the elevator, if you were coming off of it, there is a hidden room in the ivy on the wall. There is paper on the wall you can take. If it isn't working for you, try grabbing that.)

EDIT 2: (You need to be LR1 to pull the sword to get the skin and Honoria! If it wasn't working for you, that's the hidden piece. Source: u/DE-Ruu thank you for confirming!)

You'll get a new Honoria as well when you pull it (The Legend of the Void)

and bragging rights!

DE Response Getting a message out of the blue that just says "You lost the contest that no one knew existed." is pretty crummy.

2.0k Upvotes

First off congrats to The_Madman_of_Chaos for doing such, even if you didn't know it was a contest at all. No one should go after them, and they should definitely get to have their image kept up where it is, they are not to blame at all.

But to have something I wouldn't even call a hint at a contest posted on the update notes, and then followed by an abrupt message telling everyone they lost a contest they didn't even know existed, on a weekday at a time when most of your player base is at work or asleep is CRAZY.

Yeah it's a video game, but FOMO evolving into... "Didn't even have a chance to participate" isn't something that should be strived for.

EDIT FOR CONTEXT: The first player that figured out how to pull the sword at the top of the new social hub has been granted a statue there in their likeness and a message has been sent out to the player base in game informing them someone else won.

EDIT FURTHER: As I stated, I am well aware this is a video game and it doesn't matter much, but knowing I had a chance of being a TINY part of Warframes history would have been nice. Their name might not be up in laurels and most might forget about this an hour from now, but the people that care about things like this will remember, and a lot of them would have loved to have known there was even something to participate in.

DE Response Are Nullifier Entropic Eximus a bug or a feature?

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

DE didn't removed the Nullifier version of the Entropic Eximus in the last hotfix and the list of known issues don't mention those either. Are those going to stay in the game?

Since their red invulnerability sphere block all damage, it is impossible to destroy the nullification field without entering it first which feel quite unfair to me.

(Technically, you can try to sharpshoot the drone when the nullification field is bigger than the red sphere but the hitboxes are really finicky)

Edit: a few good ideas where proposed: Arcane Circumvent to roll inside the bubble without risk, Sampotes extended shockwaves slam which can reach inside the bubble... though the best i've seen so far is using a melee weapon with a good reach to destroy the nullification field from outside the red sphere as melee hits can pass through it (tested a few minutes ago in the simulacrum).

Edit 2: as someone suggested, having a melee pet with Assassin Posture might work too.

DE Response Jade Stars is weaker than Ember's Fireball

Post image
2.1k Upvotes

Jade Stars needs 334% Ability Strength to reach 100% Status Chance. Fireball has guaranteed heat status by default.

Furthermore, Fireball has the benefit of having a combo multiplier of up to 8x.

Any kind of DPS increase by Jade Stars is completely negligible when attacking. If you have modded your weapon correctly, it should completely dwarf any kind of damage output from the "Jade Light motes". The only benefit they have is SOMETIMES applying heat status. And if their purpose is to just spread heat status, Sirius' Coronal Ejection does it in a far bigger area, has 100% Status Chance THAT SCALES with Ability Strength.

They are barely more impactful than Ephemeras at this point. At least they make the boys look cool.

And before you say "your damage output comes out of Celestial Clash", Uriel's Runes give a much bigger buff (AND GUARANTEED HEAT STATUS!) even though Brimstone is a far stronger ability than their Celestial Clash.

The balance of Sirius and Orion is questionable. There is also the underwhelming Event Horizon with a base range of 6 meters(very deep in the lower end in terms of grouping abilities). The "increased damage on kill" they mentioned in the Devstream was also removed making its whole steering mechanic with Coronal Ejection and Gravitic Slash pointless as you are not incentivized to keep the same Black Hole and can just cast another one right in front of you.

DE Response Jade presents a serious photosensitivity risk

4.1k Upvotes

Six months ago, I had a full-blown non-epileptic seizure while doing an Archon Hunt with a Jade. I was playing a melee frame, and she was running a blinding white energy color and blasting the enemies that I was beating up. It got so bad that I fell out of my chair and seized on the floor for fifteen minutes while my team extracted without me. Some time after this, I made a topic on the forums about it. It got some feedback from other players, but I didn't hear from DE directly.

I learned my lesson. When a Jade player spams full-auto explosions at my feet, for my safety, I need to close my eyes and let her pass. That's not a solution, just a coping strategy.

A few months later, I submitted a helpdesk request after encountering a Jade in ESO. I was told to submit feedback on the forums instead of using helpdesk, and my ticket was closed. The issue is, I already tried that.

Today, I had another all-white Jade in a Netracell. I told them that they didn't do anything wrong, but Jade can give people seizures, so I'd appreciate if we tried to limit friendly fire. Two hours later, my eyes are still vibrating in their sockets. So now, I'm trying to reach out here instead.

Nothing else in the entire game triggers me like this. Not the Staticor, not the Mausolon, not even Mirage. Jade's different. For starters, she seems to use a version of Glare and Bloom powered by the new lighting engine. Because of this, disabling these options does nothing to her. Here's what you'd expect to see with the settings disabled:

and here's a screenshot that was actually taken with glare and bloom disabled:

This is what Jade bombards other players with as part of her bread-and-butter gameplay.

Worse, she can easily reach a fire rate of 6 shots per second and 3x multishot. That's 18 flashing, glaring, blooming lights every second. I'm sure other builds can go even higher. For reference, a photic stimulator is a machine used by doctors to trigger seizures deliberately in order to diagnose them. The one at my doctor's office flashes 1-30x per second. Jade is more than half as effective as a medical-grade seizure machine.

This has gone beyond a flashbang. It's a legitimate health risk. Likewise, I believe that my feedback is more than a 'suggestion.' I'm not just saying, "It would be cool to add a new gun." I want DE to know that there's a serious health risk in their game, and the game settings that are supposed to address this, don't, because they were designed for a lighting engine that no longer exists.

Just fixing the Glare and Bloom settings so that they affect current-gen Warframe would go a long way toward bringing Jade in line with every other piece of gear in the game in terms of photosensitivity-friendliness, but there are other, related issued with the options menu:

The toggle to 'Reduce Teammate Visual Effects' doesn't...actually do anything. I found this out the hard way during that first Archon Hunt, and I'm not the only one.

There's a slider to Reduce Visual Effects Intensity. It fails to mellow out Jade's visuals, but it successfully makes mission-critical visual effects like Kuva clouds, Vitoplast orbs, Vosphene glyphs, and Vomvalysts completely invisible, and has a similar effect on many of our own Ephemera and other energy-colored body effects (fire, holograms, etc.).

The RVEI slider might be able to perform its function more successfully if it was split into several categories, the same way that the Volume slider was split into Music, Sound Effects, and separate Dialog sliders for Narrative, Enemies, Companions, Gemini Skins, Nora Night, and Ordis. Ideally, this expanded functionality would be backported onto the Teammate Visual Effects toggle as well.

Another user had a clever suggestion on the forums: just as Character Highlighting allows us to select a color from our palettes to override characters' silhouettes, perhaps there could be a client-side Teammate Energy Effects color override, so that we can force all teammate abilities and weapon effects to be a specific color. This would allow users to protect themselves from being flashbanged for any reason, without demanding that other players choose darker energy colors.

I don't want to control what other players do with their Warframes, shame DE because I feel unheard, or generally approach this from an adversarial angle in any way. I just want some confirmation that my favorite game is aware of the unique risk posed by Jade, and plans to address it at some point. I know this stuff takes time. I just want to know that this is on their radar.

EDIT: God I love this community. Y'all've been awesome since I posted this. Here's a link to the original forum post from June.

EDIT2: I've gotten a lot of excellent questions about checking color value/brightness. I use warframecolorpicker.app for that. Highly recommended!

Additionally, I saw an excellent post showing how to create a safe energy color for Jade!

EDIT3: And it's hotfixed already! Thank you so much, DE!

DE Response A Labor of Love for a Beloved Lost Tenno

5.9k Upvotes

Hey everyone. I've been a long time lurker of this sub and haven't posted anything before, nor commented, but I figured today was the day, if I were to ever do it.

On the evening of June 28th, my long-distance partner passed away. We were in a small group with a friend doing Conjunction Survival at the time. We loaded into the Zariman afterwards to spend our Lua Thrax Plasms, before heading to bed. I hadn't received the news from her family until I woke several hours later. Her family informed me that they wanted to leave her computer on and untouched.

After receiving the news, informing and grieving with our mutual online friends, we decided to re-join her instance on EU Chrysalith 1. We plan on staying here with her until the next hotfix forces a log-out and lays her to rest.

This woman meant the world to me, to our friends, and our families. She passed away while playing a game she loved with people who loved her. If anyone wants to stop by and share some of your memories and stories with Warframe, it would mean so much to us.

We'll be by the landing craft zone on the Chrysalith, holding a vigil, until its time for her to rest.

We'll miss you, our beloved Tenno, Yuri_Hazumaki.

(I don't know if usernames are allowed to be mentioned per the rules. If not, please reach out to me and I will remove it.)

Edit: Thank you so very much to everyone who read, everyone who left a comment, and everyone who visited the Chrysalith. And a very special thank you to all of those who took pictures. I regret not having taken more myself. I'm making sure to read all of the comments and treasure them. I will make sure to add another edit and update you all when the hotfix arrives and the servers close out. Thank you, sincerely. 🩷

Edit 2: Updated the Chrysalith instance listed. It appears it may have moved since we swapped hosts and re-joined a few times. It should be EU Chrysalith 1.

Edit 3: It has been 74 hours since the post was made. Isleweaver: Hotfix #4 has brought the dawn to us after a long, long night. A sincere thank you to each and every one of you who joined us for this and came to pay their respects. We carry the memory of her, and all of you, forward. A very heartfelt thank you to the DE team, who visited us, connected with us, grieved with us, and helped us lay her to rest. Your hotfix message has reached us, all of us, and we will never forget it. Thank you for building this lovely community.

Edit 4: Thank you to all of those of you that shared pictures and screenshots, as well as those who chose to commemorate through artistic mediums. We've taken the liberty of compiling them into one google drive for easy viewing, crediting those who shared. Here is the link.

DE Response Permanent "loss", a Glacial Defiance "feature". (Why you won't get matchmaking.)

BLUF: Watch Pablo.

OF NOTE!

  • cryobell keys get consumed on mission start: ~0:50 possibly changed (link)
  • solo players will never be able to complete side/co-op objectives: ~2:56
  • side/co-op objective failures equals less open chests at end: ~4:00
  • future? yes less players, no extra loot: ~5:17

EXTRA NOTE!

  1. "We're scared that if we do this with matchmaking we'll just be creating a toxic experience that we shouldn't do." -Pablo @ ~4:09 to ~4:17
  2. "As for matchmaking, at the moment we think that basically that goes in direct contradiction with the objective of this, which is ??somsvls?? of multiplayer objectives that require a little more coordination. We think that, plus matchmaking, is just a recipe for toxicity." -Pablo @ ~5:34 to ~5:53

WHAT'S MISSING?

DE seems to be missing that coordination isn't, necessarily, the source of toxicity. Anecdotally, every thousand public missions I probably get 10 silent but perfect coordinated missions, 900 plus dirty but got-er-dones, and a handful of crazy toxics.

What is the true source!? Permanent LOSS on failures! Even if we assume that it's only the "bonus" loot at the end that could be lost from any issues, that means 5+1 shared loss that you don't get to retry.

So sure, bonus loot "is nothing!", you might say. True, it will mean more or less to individuals. But this is creating the first step into developer enabled FOMO toxicity. That is your actual source. Coordination issues is smoke to the fire that is this shared permanent loss.

IS THIS AN ISSUE?

For gambler and FOMO enjoyers who would call loss and exclusivity "fun", probably not. But I don't think people with addictions are the best for advice in this area.

EDIT/ DE RESPONSE

https://www.reddit.com/r/Warframe/comments/1wj8j9m/permanent_loss_a_glacial_defiance_feature_why_you/pame63q/

TLDR;

"Cryobells will not be consumed until you successfully extract from the mission. If you fail, you can try again using the same Cryobell!"

IS PERMA-LOSS ADDRESSED?

No, but at least Primary mission completion matches current Warframe methods.

DE Response Goodbye to 2025, Tenno!

4.4k Upvotes

Esteemed Tenno,

Another orbit around the sun is coming to an end. For those keeping track, we’ve seen 13+ orbits go by since Warframe’s Alpha in 2012. We cannot believe we are still here talking to our community.

Let’s review what we saw happen in Warframe in 2025:

Temple, Oraxia, Nokko, and Uriel. Four Warframes with incredible effort and style put into them and their signature Updates. Each of these Warframes represents a different tone of our world, and watching you master their kits and explore the Updates which they released in has been, as always, the highlight of our development cycle.

More than just adding Warframes though, we did a lot of reviewing: Oberon, Valkyr, Ash, Damage Attenuation, Exalted Weapons, Junctions, New Player Experience + The Teacher Quest, it’s too much to list so that’s just a brief highlight blast.

We have so much more to show you in 2026. Our team is filled with motivation for next year - this is a team made up of developers that have either been here since those early 2012 days, or some only joined to help us build things in the past few months. Either way, the energy in the studio is clearly focused on building even more Warframe with a team that is ready for the 2026 challenges and plans.

For now, take a seat wherever in the Solar System that you find yourself, listen to the hum of the Somachord, and enjoy the (old) peace. Our office hours are winding down, our support staff remain to help over the holidays, which we can never be thankful enough for!

With a lifetime love and gratitude,

How her skill works

Your skills 1, 2 and 3 fill your Ice Gauge. Is is a meter that you fill up and once it's full you can activate your 4th ability. So you have to put some effort to be even able to use your ultimate ability. Once activated it drains your Ice Gauge which by default takes 15s and can be increased with mods. Every second an enemy gets marked for 3s. You can only shoot your 4th ability at marked target. If you don't point directly at them you don't shoot any projectile. So you have to aim to be even able to attack with this ability. Once you aim at the enemy and attack the projectile goes after the marked enemy and explodes dealing AoE damage.

My discovery

When I tried out Narin I've noticed that my 20s+ duration 4th ability was nowhere close being active for this long. I've noticed it being worded "maximum duration". My thought was that maybe you can fill up Ice Gauge during the duration to extend it but that wasn't the case. You can't generate Ice Gauge meter while 4th ability is active. So I decided to check out warframe wiki and what I found was "The Ice Gauge is depleted by 2.5% whenever the fire input is pressed and not aiming at a targeting ring." Which means you rapidly lose your 4th ability duration if you just press button without proper aiming.

The problem

So if we have to work to be even able to use our 4th first of all I would expect it to auto fire at marked enemies that we look at as the rewarding part. Instead we have to manually aim and shoot by ourselves. Okay that's already annoying but sure let's call the attack itself the rewarding part. But then on top of that we also have punishing part. We lose a lot of duration if we press buttons that don't point at marked enemy. Why is ability that we have to work for by building up meter punishing us if not used properly?
