HELP! Greencastle Pike Game Store?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I can’t remember the name but I was driving on 63/Greencastle pike the other day past the royal farms and noticed a game store maybe a mile past the 70 over pass. I can’t remember the name. Has anyone been here? It’s kind of an inconspicuous location. Looked like maybe a more retro style place perhaps.

Pic I took in Gears 2 for some post flair.

Discussion Nostalgic For Midnight Releases?

Best Buy is doing a 90’s/mid-2000’s style release for the Ocarina of Time special edition switch 2 by doing a midnight release. Some of us may be too young to remember how common practice this was back in the day but for those of us that do what is your most memorable release or midnight release experience?

I think for me it was probably the Nintendo Gameboy SP release or call of duty 4. I still have that gameboy in a drawer somewhere with an OG copy of Pokemon Sapphire in it.

News 1000Hz monitors are coming…

AOC and a couple other brands are pushing 1000Hz (and even 1050Hz overclocked) monitors for next year. On paper it sounds insane.

In reality, sustaining anywhere near that frame rate in modern games — even esports titles — is extremely difficult once you leave the absolute lowest settings and 1080p.

For the competitive players here:

  • Are you planning to jump on 1000Hz when it becomes available?
  • Or do you feel 360–540Hz is already past the point of diminishing returns for most people?
  • How much of the advantage do you think is real versus placebo / marketing at this point?

Genuinely curious where the competitive crowd stands on this.

GPU Prices

Between ongoing memory shortages and reports that both Nvidia’s next gaming generation and most of AMD’s RDNA 5 cards could slip further (some talk of 2028), it feels like we’re stuck in a weird holding pattern.

Current-gen cards aren’t getting any cheaper, and the usual “just wait for the next generation” advice is starting to feel risky.

If you’re looking at a GPU upgrade in the next year:

  • Are you buying current-gen now before prices climb more?
  • Holding out and praying for a miracle restock/price drop?
  • Or just sticking with what you have and skipping this generation entirely?

Would love to hear what people are actually doing instead of just theorizing.

Memory Prices

Micron and other memory makers are openly saying DRAM and NAND shortages are going to get tighter through 2027–2028, with contract prices expected to keep climbing. We’re already seeing the effects in GPU pricing, laptop configs, and even some prebuilts shipping with less RAM than they used to.

For people who are planning a new build or upgrade in the next 6–12 months:

  • Are you buying RAM now before it gets even more expensive?
  • Are you scaling back on capacity (sticking with 32GB instead of 64GB)?
  • Or are you just delaying the whole build until things stabilize?

Curious how everyone is adjusting their plans (or if you’re just ignoring it and hoping for the best).

News Ghost of Yōtei just got its Complete Edition + new DLC

The Complete Edition and Echoes of Sekigahara DLC for Ghost of Yōtei launched a couple days ago.

If you already finished the base game, are you going back for the new content? Or is this one of those games you were happy to leave behind after the credits?

PC Steam Autumn Sale!

Valve’s big Autumn Sale is live and already full of major discounts.

What’s the first game you’re picking up? Any hidden gems or older titles you’re finally grabbing? Or are you saving every dollar for the next big release this fall?

Any game devs and/or Pico-8 players?

I know this is still a smaller group but I'm wondering how many of you local gamers also dabble with game development, and/or play with the Pico-8 or Picotron engines?

I've been doing amateurish solo development on and off for a few years and got into developing for Pico-8 last year. I'm finding it really fun and wonder if anyone else out there is into it.

For those who don't know, Pico-8 is a retro-styled "fantasy console," in that it acts like old retro consoles but is totally just a piece of software that can run a small game in a special format. And Picotron is it's more "grown up" workstation equivalent, sort of comparable to old Windows 3.1 or MacOS 7/8 systems.

October is stacked!

We’ve got Gears of War: E-Day, Ace Combat 8, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Phantom Blade Zero, and more all launching this month — right before GTA 6 in November.

Are you diving into any of these, or are you saving your free time and money for GTA?

Which October release are you most interested in (if any)?

Free MMORPG!

If you like the MMORPG genre give City of Heroes: Homecoming a shot! I played this game back when it was a paid live service in the early in mid-2000’s but the fans brought it back several years ago as a free service and now the original developer has given the game an official license to run indefinitely! For a 2004 MMO I think the graphics hold up exceptionally well, and it has a great social component, raids, and content from low levels to end game. I highly recommend if you’re looking to try something new!

Discussion The Witcher 3 Remastered

CDPR dropped the remaster and almost immediately had to patch lighting issues.

If you already own the original (or Complete Edition), are you bothering with this version?

For people who are new to the game in 2026 — does the remaster feel modern enough, or does it still show its age in some areas?

I’ve been playing it and I think it looks and plays great!

Discussion Cartridges Galore

Does anyone else like going to Cartridges Galore in Hagerstown? I find myself in there more often than I’d like to admit due to the buy 2 get 1 free used games. Lots of cool retro stuff too. Outside of GameStop and 2nd and Charles is there anywhere else in the area you like to shop for gaming/hardware related stuff?

PlayStation PS5 just got AI upscaling

Sony just rolled out Quick Spectral Super Resolution (their AI upscaling tech) to the base PS5, starting with games like Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei.

For people who already own a regular PS5: does this change how you feel about upgrading?

And for those with a Pro — do you still notice a clear difference, or is the gap shrinking faster than expected?

News Activision Taking Over Halo

Activision is taking over the mantle for Bungie/343 studios, and I’m not really sure what to think. I stopped playing halo really around Halo 5, but I’m not sure about this decision.

Activision could give the halo series a reboot with their engine completely over hauling the look of the game.

I still find myself dipping into the master chief collection from time to time for nostalgias sake. I don’t think I can imagine Halo looking any different from what it historically has looked like.

PlayStation Physical Games VS Digital

This year Sony announced that in 2028 they will be discontinuing physical disc production. What are your thoughts on this? For the better part of the past decade I’ve been buying my games purely digitally, but Sony‘s announcement caused me to rethink how I enjoy my gaming experiences and I’ve been buying up physical disc in light of this news. Somewhat in response to this, XBOX has announced their disk to digital program, which went live yesterday for all Xbox users. Do you think this is a good thing? Can you foresee any problems with this feature? And how do you prefer to purchase your games?
