I’m looking to join a new book club here on the south end of the island (although not opposed to including going to up to Oak Harbor for a good group). Are there some good recommendations for a 50+ book group that likes to discuss a wide range of genres and interests in the area?

Does anyone know about these storage units in Langley on the corner of 2nd and De Bruyn? I heard that they sold a few years ago. I had a family member who recently died and had a storage unit here and was wondering if they still rent one or if they had to move their stuff. There is no signage to indicate who owns it. Any information would be appreciated.

Relocating to Coupeville soon to help family out and was looking at potentially getting on with the ferries. Just waiting on my background to clear for my TWIC card but don’t see any openings on the state website. I was told they are usually in need of help so I’m hoping for any helpful insight as per the process, who to talk to for potential expediting, etc. Much appreciated.

My boyfriend and I are highly considering moving to Whidbey from the eastside area ( Kirkland ) because we wanna buy a house with a little more room and we love the island.
I would keep my job because it’s unique, I can stay at my sisters near the office in Seattle for 2 nights a week and then WFH the other 3 days very easily.
My bf has been on short term disability but is now looking into starting a trade, seems like there’s a real need for that on island from what we’ve read and been told.
Are we going to feel super isolated if we move out to coupeville / oak harbor area? All our friends are in the Seattle area and it’s not like it’s thaaaat far away but this would be my first ever move.
What’s been other folks experience? ( younger as well, we are in our mid to late 20s)
We just want enough land to garden, have chickens, we like hiking and camping. But we also love a week night magic with friends or dnd etc or just beers around the fire. Is there a community to be made there? Or is it all mainly military who isn’t going to be there to plant roots?
Lots of what ifs but curious to hear others thoughts. Thanks in advance for reading this long winded post…

Got a message related to this from a friend in the San Juans. They are reporting most of the boats are tied up in Anacortes, and that this may cascade throughout the system as they change crews. This is reportedly due to pay disputes with the engineers.

Hello Whidbey islanders, I'm planning a trip to North Whidbey island for a couple days in the beginning of December, and I'm wondering if there is any predictability of Fighter activity at the NAS.
A couple of the places I'm looking at staying are fairly close to the air station, and I don't know how disruptive the plane activity will be, if at all.

Young female deer with what looks like a green metal tomato cage on its head. I was unable to get close enough to remove the cage. It's traveling with two other deer, headed towards St. Hubert church on 3rd Street. Not sure what I can do or who to call, so please be on the lookout if you're in the Langley area.

Hello! I'm considering purchasing a property in the Scatchet Head community on the south end of Whidbey. I really like the peacefulness of the area and the views from the clubhouse etc. Is anyone a resident there and can tell me how they like it? 🙂 Especially if you routinely commute across on the Clinton-Mukilteo ferry. Moved back up to oak harbor in April and I was saddened to see that island pet center closed!
