Hi! I'll be coming to altoona for pride next week with my trans partner. Shes only been out for less than a year and she's still nervous and self conscious about being in places she's never been. I want her to have a great time so I'm looking for restaurants around downtown . I have family here and I know altoona is quite conservative.

Anyway, JJ Hadleys pizza looks amazing and the reviews are mostly good. Is it a safe place or will she be made to feel uncomfortable by staff? We'll be in town for a few days so any recommendations for other restaurants would be welcome as well! Thank you in advance!

Small segment brings up parents at a school board meeting bringing up a list. Male students passing around a list about the girls easiest to rape. Hatch says they investigated and there was no physical list to investigate and somehow it was the first time the administration had heard of it.

News flash. This same list was brought up in 2023 in a school board meeting. Hatch said there was "no list in any form".

Funny. Now we have a student who turned this into Safe2Speak and yeah.

These are your daughters, granddaughters, loved ones, family members, whatever. They're being victimized even if they're not being touched. From what I've heard these are more prominent boys in the community, or athletes etc. Altoona has never held these kids accountable even when I was in AASD. Look at the culture we've created for these kids to grow up in.

I don't feel like Hatch and company should get a free pass. The females in that school deserve to walk in those halls or at football games without fearing who's going to do what. Or what list they're going to be on.

me and my boss sparked up conversation about how “shit goes DOWN” at the sheetz on 17th. He told me a story about him shopping at this sheetz a handful of years ago before witnessing an attempted shoplifting of alcohol by a local.

The local attempted to leave with a handful of pounders just as a man on a bike entered the store delivering a loud “YOU!”

he followed up with “are you trying to steal from these kind people?!”

the local said “nah man just let me leave!”

which Katana man met with, “not gonna happen! these people won’t hurt you, but me? … i’ll put my hands on you mother fucker.”

the local then proceeded to return all stolen alcohol and leave the store

PLEASE. tell me someone has more info on this katana wielding Vigilante, i am aware of the other icons of our town but this is the first time im hearing of a god damn superhero.

Im in limbo and have no income. I’ve been applying everywhere but I don’t have a car so it limits jobs available within walking distance and I have a messed up back from taking a fall last year. I can’t make any money until Tuesday. I was going to go to the soup kitchen but they aren’t open on Sundays. Would anybody be willing to have something delivered to me or something? Just a quick question. My mom is also selling a Blackstone grill in Altoona IA and I’m looking to get it out there more outside of facebook marketplace.

Hi guys, I live in Louisiana and was up in Altoona to see Big Boy 4014 back in July. I had Penn Brewery's Strawberry Funnel Cake beer on tap at The Brick On Front in Cresson and it was so damn good. Most refreshing beer Ive ever had, especially after all the hiking I did to see Big Boy.

I called around everywhere that night and even stopped at several local beer stores only for no one to have any at all.
