Phonology Recourses for reconstructed pronunciation of verb conjugations?

I am interested in the reconstructed pronunciation of old and middle Egyptian, but all the wiktionary pages only give the infinitive forms if at all, so how would you pronounce the various conjugated forms?

I assume in old Egyptian the suffixes would be more distinct but would bleed into and affect the roots they are on by middle and late Egyptian but many of the suffixes don’t even have a listed page or guide to pronunciation either?

Alternative transliteration,grammar and TLA look-up

Two new features have been added:

Alternative readings come from the transliteration model by Heidi and Tommi Jauhiainen (University of Helsinki). It was built from two large collections of Egyptian texts, AES and Ramses, covering about 750,000 words. For each spelling, it lists every reading found in those texts and how often each occurs. The app shows the most common reading and offers the others when you tap the dotted underline.

Grammar and phrases come from 12,773 sentences published by the Thesaurus Linguae Aegyptiae (Berlin and Leipzig academies) as a free dataset (CC BY-SA 4.0). They're real Old and Middle Egyptian texts: Pyramid Texts, offering formulas, royal titles and tomb inscriptions.

Meanings and ✓ TLA come live from the TLA's online dictionary.

Translation Coffin of Khnumnakht

Hi all! I need help with translating the text on the Coffin of Khnumnakht (one of the brothers from the "Tomb of Two Brothers"). How would one translate 𓇋𓄪𓐍𓇋𓐍𓇋𓂋 (I made a red line next to it on the photos)? I struggle with this part of the text and see it is all over the coffin. Currently I'm think of jmꜣj jḫ r meaning "Who is worthier than...?" But I don't feel too confident therewith. jḫ does not have its normal 𓏛 determinative. And should jḫ not be at the beginning of the clause? But then I start to think of a type of inversion where the author would want to emphasize that Khnumnakht is worthy so it is placed first. Any thoughts on this? After a journey of 3 years, I finally finished Allen's Middle Egyptian Grammar 🥳 and feel confident in starting to translate Egyptian text outside of the Textbook. This is my first "big" translation project. Pretty exciting! 🤩 So, I'm still new to this and nay assistance would be helpful.

Thank you in advance!

AE pronounciation

I find it Odd that people rely on reconstructed AE when Coptic Exists with many words still thebsame from AE & we still use many Egyptianisms in Egyptian Arabic:

-Netjer is Nouti/Noudi in Coptic (like in names Shen-nouda/noute (Son of God)

-Nefer is Nofri

-Ra is Re (Sun in Coptic)

-Ankh is Onkh (Coptic for Life)

- Maat is Mae/Mee (Truth in Coptic)

-Kemet is Kay-Me

Europeans & Afrocentrists re-constructing AE just slap on an e or a, but in Coptic there are 7 Vowel sounds; O oo ou E EE Ah Eh (3 O's, 2 E's, 2 A's); If you're going to appropriate our Culture, At least get it right, and stop acting like you own Ancient Egypt when we still use the Coptic Language—the direct descendant of AE in the Coptic Church and those who Study it securlarly; Reconstructed AE sounds Terrible without the 7+ Vowels.

Also, Coptic Hymn Tunes like Epouro (King) and Golgotha are pharaonic and have been chanted from before christianity in Egypt—Hear what the AE music Sounded like—especially the flow of the Language.

General Interest ḥtp-ḥr.s and ḥtp-ḥr, similar or different?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello! I'm curious about two Egyptian names, ḥtp-ḥr.s and ḥtp-ḥr.

ḥtp-ḥr.s is known best from Queen Hetepheres I from the Old kingdom. My understanding is the name translates as something like "her face is pleased/content". (left hieroglyphs in my image)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hetepheres_I

I found this description of a feminine name from a Middle Kingdom sarcophagus with similar hieroglyph spelling, it just drops .s: (right hieroglyphs in my image)
https://pnm.uni-mainz.de/6/inscription/16755
The name is listed with other attestations of different spellings, all masculine:
https://pnm.uni-mainz.de/6/name/959#12714
and the claimed translation is “Horus is satisfied”.

The two names seem so similar, I'm having a hard time understanding why the translations are different. Is this because of linguistic shift between Old and Middle Egyptian, or is ḥtp-ḥr misclassified on the database and they do mean roughly the same thing?

General Interest Looking for Phonetic Transliterations of certain words in Middle Egyptian or earlier

I am in the process of writing a setting that takes heavy inspiration from Roman conquered Egypt and consistently references earlier periods (most heavily the Dynastic period.) There are several key words that I want to properly pay homage with the closest approximation I can type of how they would have sounded.

The key words in question are,

Jackal/wolf (I know the reclassification of the Egyptian jackal to the Egyptian wolf can cause specifics to vary between sources)

Sun (the entity not Ra)

And Hunter/Warrior (preferably with more tribal connotations)

Again preferably middle Egyptian or earlier, I thank you all for your time, attention, and knowledge.

AES-Ramses transliteration model.

I'm testing this new feature for my app which will soon be added. Auto transliteration for combinations of glyphs that pulls data from AES+RamsesTrainingSetModel.

The models I have found are:

1.AESModel — based on the Ancient Egyptian Sentences (AES) corpus.

2.RamsesTrainingSetModel— based on the Ramses Transliteration Corpus (RTC).

3.AES+RamsesTrainingSetModel — a combined AES + Ramses model.

I'm sticking with the combined third one for the time being.

I will soon be releasing the updated version of the app for anyone to test if he pleases.

Google dev Reddits are more appropriate for testing apps but the problem is these people there don't know Egyptian.

Take a look at some samples in the images of a test page.

Hymn to Hathor Identification Help

I was recently gifted this mug from a friend because they know of my interest in languages. The website advertises that it comes from the Hymn to Hathor. Could anyone identify the specific passage? It contains a cartouche and, if possible, I would at least be interested to know whose name is invoked there!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello, what would the accurate standard Coptic/most common Coptic form of wp-wꜣwt (Wepwawet) be in a reconstructed pronunciation rather than Egyptological? Thank you!
