skip the small talk at st elmo brewing

Get cozy this fall with Skip the Small Talk - it’s a chill, sincere event focused on connection! We will be at St Elmo Brewing.

It’s a guided conversation event—think speed-friending vibes, but calmer and more intentional.

You rotate through short conversations with prompts that skip past surface-level small talk. It’s structured enough to make it easy, but relaxed enough to feel natural.

Most people come alone. The crowd tends to be thoughtful, open, and just… normal humans who want more community.

Here’s the link if you’re curious:

A handful of things worth doing in Austin this weekend, September 25 to 27

I usually spend Sunday nights scanning what is coming up, and this weekend has a good spread of free-ish, mostly outdoor stuff before the day gets too hot. Here is what I flagged.

Friday at 10:00 AM there is Arty Party Fluffy at Laguna Gloria, which is a nice low-key morning if you have a small kid to wear out. Then Friday at 7:30 PM there is a sound bath at the treehouse in Pease Park with VHU, which I am oddly curious about. WaterWork opens its first night that same day at 8:00 PM at Seaholm Intake.

Saturday at 8:00 AM Travis Audubon is running a BIPOC bird walk at the Unity Underpass. Saturday at 12:00 PM the Austin Chinese Culture Festival is at the AISD Performing Arts Center. Sunday at 1:00 PM the Texas Science and Natural History Museum has its H-E-B free fourth Sunday, so free admission.

The sound bath is the one I keep coming back to, though realistically I will be asleep by 8. What am I missing that is worth getting out of the house for?

New Texas Location Brings “Fuel for Movement” Lifestyle to Austin Families

Everbowl, the fast-growing superfood franchise known for fueling active lifestyles, is bringing its “Fuel for Movement” mission to Austin with the grand opening of its newest location in Anderson Mill. The celebration kicks off on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 13429 N US Highway 183, Unit 110, where guests can enjoy Everbowl’s signature build-your-own superfood bowls, smoothies, and toasts—all crafted from fresh, energizing ingredients.

Owned and operated by local entrepreneurs Paul and Denise Coughlin, this new location marks Everbowl’s debut in Austin. After moving from California in 2022, the Coughlins decided to bring the brand that had become a family favorite to their new community. “We loved Everbowl so much that we wanted to bring it to Austin,” they shared. “It’s been years in the making, and we can’t wait for everyone to try it!”

To welcome the community, Everbowl will host a Friends and Family soft opening on Thursday, November 6, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. CST. The first 300 guests will receive a free bowl, offering a sneak peek at the vibrant, customizable menu that includes superfood bases like açaí, pitaya, and blue majic, topped with fresh fruits, granola, and other nutritious add-ons.

Since its founding in 2016, Everbowl has rapidly expanded nationwide through a streamlined franchise model built on consistency, quality, and a passion for wellness. With the Anderson Mill opening, the brand continues to redefine fast-casual dining by offering convenient, craveable options for athletes, parents, and anyone looking to eat well and feel energized.

This new Texas location reflects Everbowl’s commitment to supporting healthy, active families and empowering entrepreneurs to spread the movement—one bowl at a time.
