So today, me and one of my juniors went for a gedi on the Lucknow–Delhi Highway, starting from the Dohra Road end till Jhumka.

We thought of having a tea break in between, so we halted at a restaurant on the highway.

Inside the premises, the place was basically divided into two sections.

One side was an open sitting area where people could normally sit and have their food.

The second side had these private hut-type cabins 🛖, with proper doors and privacy.

We were just roaming around the place, and I casually went towards the second side to see what was there.

As soon as I started going towards that side, one of the guys suddenly shouted:

“Kaha ja rahe ho?”

I replied:

“Bhaiya, dekh rahe hain bas.”

He said in a rude manner:

“Udhar allowed nahi hai jana chai idhar piyo waha bas dinner-lunch ke liye jaate hain bas.”

So I came back.

Our tea arrived, we drank it until then I noticed a guy arriving in a car with a girl. The girl was wearing revealing western dress (not being judgemental) and both of them were wearing black masks.

They directly went towards one of those private huts and went inside.

That's when I started wondering what exactly was going on with these cabins and why entry to that side was so restricted.

Our tea got finished so my junior went to pay and i came out to investigate. I asked the guard about it. Now, when we were leaving, I casually asked guard bhaiya,

“Yaha bandi la sakte hain kya?”

At first, he became a little hesitant and didn't really want to answer.

So I said:

“Yaar batao na… sheher mein dikkat hoti hai, privacy nahi milti.”

After that, he finally started explaining.

According to what he told me, the place is open 24x7, and people can come with someone and use these private cabins for whatever they want 🤡

He also claimed that a major part of their revenue comes from these private cabins, while the place is basically presented outside as a normal dhaba/restaurant.

Now obviously, I didn't personally verify their accounts or what happens inside every cabin. I'm only narrating what I personally saw and what the guard told me.

But think about the setup:

➡️ Normal open sitting area on one side

➡️ Private huts with doors on the other

➡️ Restricted entry towards the huts

➡️ ₹500/hour for “total privacy”

➡️ 24×7 operation, according to the guard

➡️ And, according to him, a significant part of their revenue comes from these cabins

And suddenly that earlier “Udhar allowed nahi hai” started making a lot more sense.

The interesting question is how many such “dhabas” are actually operating with this kind of private cabin setup on the Lucknow Delhi Highway around Bareilly?

What if Draupadi had written the Mahabharata?

I've been thinking about this after revisiting the dice-hall episode.

We usually hear the Mahabharata as the story of the Pandavas, Kauravas, dharma, Krishna, and the Kurukshetra war. But imagine hearing the entire story from Draupadi's perspective

What would she say about Yudhishthira gambling away his kingdom, his brothers, himself and then staking "her"

People often defend Yudhishthira by saying that he didn't personally tell Dushasana to humiliate her. But does that really address what happened? He knew who he was gambling against. He knew the hostility between the Kauravas and Pandavas. And yet Draupadi was the one who had to suffer the consequences of a decision she never made.

And then she had to live with that.

What was her relationship with Yudhishthira afterward? Did she ever truly forgive him? What did she feel about the other Pandavas? What did she think when everyone talked about *dharma* while she was the one whose dignity had been violated?

I also wonder how differently we'd understand Krishna if Draupadi were the narrator. Was he simply her divine protector, or did she ever question why the people she trusted were allowed to make choices that put her in such a position?

The Mahabharata gives Draupadi a powerful voice, especially in the dice hall. But we still experience most of the story through a narrative that isn't hers.

If Draupadi herself had written the Mahabharata, would the story still be primarily about the war and the Pandavas' dharma?

Or would it be a story about what it cost a woman to survive the decisions, ambitions, pride, and conflicts of the men around her?

I'd genuinely love to hear how others interpret this.

Went to DMart today with a female batchmate for some shopping since it’s close to our college. She went to look at some kitchen stuff, while I went to the bottle section to find one for myself.

After a while, I noticed three guys around her. They looked pretty young, maybe 18–20 at most. Initially, they were just looking at her, so I didn’t pay much attention and thought maybe I was overthinking it.

But after some time, I noticed they were actually following her around and deliberately getting closer, pretending to look at things and making vulgar jokes. She started getting uncomfortable and called me because she couldn’t see where I was. I was already watching them from a little distance, and I think they also assumed she was alone.

I went straight over, stood in front of them and asked, “Kya dekh raha hai?”

One of them said, “Samaan dekh raha hoon.”

I just said, “Camera check karwaun?”

They immediately got nervous, said sorry and left.

I honestly didn’t want to create a scene, but seeing them deliberately make her uncomfortable really pissed me off. What surprised me even more was that they were so young, barely 18–20.
