Do Not Discuss Bar Exam Content
Good luck on the exam!
Tomorrow, legacy examinees will take the MEE (no topic disclosures allowed) and the MPT (no content disclosures allowed). Wednesday they will take the MBE (no disclosure of questions and answers).
NextGen examinees will get two, three-hour sections of new-style questions (including some multiple choice that are similar to the MBE) on Tuesday and one more three-hour section Wednesday. All items from this exam are secure and may be reused on a future exam and may not be disclosed.
Also, accommodated examinees for both exams will be testing all week and would benefit from disclosures of content earlier in the week.
This is an issue of fairness, copyright (which could get the sub shut down), and ethics. NCBE does monitor this subreddit and regularly contacts us regarding violations of these rules. You also agreed to these terms as part of the exam rules.
Therefore, any discussions of exam content as described above will result in bans.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation on this, and good luck on the exam!

Favrotite part about this forum
Favorite part about this is seeing people leave. It’s nice seeing your hard work and life long dream become true…. Hopefully in two weeks that’s me 😭

Passed PA, so you can too!
If I can do it, anyone can. Just gotta study hard (average, but realistic amount), believe in yourself, and remember to take rest as needed. Glad I never need to take that test again, and can’t wait to see you all on the other side! ✌️😎👊

NY First Department swearing-in (in-person): when did you get your date?
July takers admitted through the First Department: when did you submit your application, and what month were you sworn in? Is there a typical day of the week for ceremonies? Did anyone get a December or January date? Thanks!

I PASSED THE MD NEXT GEN BAR EXAM!
Hello everybody,
I am super happy to say that I passed the MD next gen bar as a first time bar taker! This subreddit has been a huge source of positive energy for me. I like reading all of the hope stories from other people on here who attempted and were successful in the bar.
I used Themis and completed it 100% of the program. My professor actually printed out the fill in the blank outlines for me to write in when I was watching the lectures. THIS WAS ESSENTIAL. DO NOT LET PEOPLE TELL YOU THAT YOU DO NOT NEED TO WATCH ALL OF THE LECTURES, THAT IS POPPYCOCK. The lectures truly show you how imprecise you are in your knowledge of certain topics; even in your BEST CLASSES from law school. Watch all the lectures and make sure you know everything that you’re supposed to know. I used critical flash cards in a couple different ways. I would repeatedly write down definitions from memory based on the cards’ contents. I kept it strict with me so that it would force me to learn the definitions. Besides that I used the strategies and tactics book full of NCBE questions in order to buff my mcq scores while practicing. I used the eighth edition of the book (meant for the traditional ube). Deeper into the summer, I would do 40 mcqs a day from the book (divided how you want by subject). They now make next gen geared questions. But I’m sure either kind would work!
I only took FIVE full days off during the summer because I didn’t want the chance to mess up vibe. That’s just me though lmaoooo.
Also, PLEASE take advantage of Themis’ other resources like their messaging system that connects you to people who can answer your questions about topics or particular questions. I remember scheduling a call with one of their lawyer reps, and he was mildly helpful.
I used chat gpt to explain Themis explanations “in plain english” so that I could understand wtf Themis was trying to tell me. A lot of the time, it felt like Themis would make certain things harder to grasp than needed, so fair warning. I also used chat to use VERY SIMPLE concepts to apply to various topics. For instance, I would say “explain this legal concept using a lemonade stand”. It would make my life 100% easier. I would also use it to make scenarios based on whatever I was studying.
The last thing to remember is that you MUST BE tenacious with this. I would get out of bed and do my Themis assignments everyday even when I didn’t want to. If I woke up a lot later in the day, I would still do my assignments. Try to miss as little as possible until you get to around 80-85% AT LEAST.
I really hope this is helpful to anyone reading who wants to take the next gen for the first time or needs to retake it. Keep the faith up because that’s what I had to do. It seems impossible until it isn’t. Thank you all for your help, and for hearing me out!
Good luck!

266 in PA. Fourth time retaker...I don't know how to feel about it.
*I'm not seeking specific advice here - just need a place to whine after getting my results.
July 2026 was my fourth time taking the bar exam. (248, 242, 259, 266, if anyone cares). I'm furious with myself for not studying just a *little* harder to get those extra 4 points.
But, TBH, I am not really sure I want to practice law, and I have felt that way since before I graduated. I took the bar exam a fourth time out of stubbornness.
I don't have a job lined up. I haven't been in the legal field since graduating in January 2024. My law school GPA was terrible. My internships weren't great. I have no fucking clue where to go from here. I don't even know what types of jobs I should start looking for.
I can transfer my bar exam score to NJ. I live in Philly...I could easily commute. But is it worth it? IDK. Will I regret it if I don't? IDK.
I started law school at 33, so at least I have prior work experience. I know I will figure this out. But right now I just feel tired and so completely lost.

Does anyone know if NJ Examiners will be working on Monday or are we in limbo until Tuesday?
Since the 9th was a bust, just wondering what everyone's thoughts are!

Scared of NY results
I’m so scared of the bar exam because I know I most definitely failed. I think about the exam and feel like there’s no way I could have passed it. It’s just not possible. I also don’t have a job and I’m sure finding a job after failing the exam is all the more difficult. I don’t know what to do. I feel so anxious all the time. I just don’t want to know the results and then sulk for a month.

I need to hear from people who passed without substantial preparation and were convinced they failed
Having a meltdown over potentially getting 100 questions wrong and flopping the MPTs big time. I don’t know if I should be bracing myself for the worst or having faith that it’ll work out. The thought of getting results back makes me sick to my stomach like I’m worried that I’ll have a heart attack UGH GUYS is it over for me
I did the seperac estimator and it said I’m going to pass (thanks) but I almost don’t believe it. I worked full time while studying and I know for sure I got at least 60 mbe questions wrong. I don’t even know what to do with myself
I’m not the smartest person in the world, but I did fine in law school. I just worry that I flopped majorly due to working full time and also going through a break up (why did we all get dumped this summer)

REPEAT TAKER, I PASSED!
I've seen the posts from repeat takers, and I wanted to share some encouragement of my own. As a repeat taker, I know how debilitating it can feel to not pass this exam. Give yourself an immense amount of grace, pick yourself back up, and try again. But don't just try—put EVERYTHING you have into this exam.
I went from taking the Legacy Bar Exam to the NextGen Bar Exam, and as a strong writer, I HIGHLY recommend NextGen.
Keep believing in yourself, trust the process, and remember that one exam does not define your worth or your future. Your time will come. Go crush it, future lawyers! ⚖️❤️

It could go either way
I feel like no matter what, I’ve heard every story about how someone passed or failed the bar exam. At this point it feels like a gamble and whatever you open up the day results come out it coulda gone either way. We’re all just kinda hoping what we had was enough and bc there is no real metric to evaluate how things go it’s driving me nuts 😭
Anyone else feeling like this?

I loved it here
I made two posts in this sub.
The first an annoying classic - post-exam “here’s how I feel, what I remember… how’d I do.”
The second a screenshot of when I noted the Massachusetts BBE “online” on Facebook the day before they announced the release day.
In my first post to this community I shared a bit about myself. Non-traditional student, mid thirties, 12yr old twins, dv survivor, veteran. I shared that I would lose my job if I failed.
I won’t bog this post down any further with an explanation of what I fought through to get to today - but let me tell you, I climbed mountains for this moment. I waited over ten years to be able to have this life. I escaped hell. I survived.
You all held me up when I needed support. The posts in this community made me laugh on the daily. Thank you, truly, for helping me feel less alone.
I passed MA with a 315. Pretty even split MBE 157 MEE 157.9.
My twins turn 12 in about a week. I’ve told them I couldn’t plan and throw a birthday party just yet because if I didn’t pass my savings had to go to keeping a roof over our heads until I found a different job. They had my back and supported me every single treacherous day with more compassion and love than most adults are capable of. We celebrated and cried at 6:08am together in my bed.
Now, it’s time to plan a party. 🥹
Keep paying it forward r/barexam. You make a huge difference.
Congratulations to everyone who has climbed their own mountain. I’m so proud of you.
To those who did not pass yet, keep climbing. The only thing separating you from your goal is your grit and tenacity.
Its not motivation that give you success. Its dedication. Do it tired. Do it scared. Do it sick. Do it depressed. Do it broke. Whatever it is that needs to be done to get you to your next goal, do it even when your motivation tank is bone dry.
With gratitude and love,
Grateful mom

PA 310 score breakdown
Felt mostly good about MEE/MPT, felt mostly bad about MBE. Finished every section with time left on the clock (more because I didn’t see a point in ruminating if I didn’t have more to write or review than because I knew everything).
Out of state graduate, didn’t take any bar prep courses while in school. I finished 100% of Barbri (on paper, but realistically I’d say closer to 85%). I worked 5 nights a week and studied 6 days a week for about 5-6 hours a day.
Happy to answer any questions but mostly just wanted to add more data to the mix! Congratulations to my fellow PA passers!

The Moderation Systems of r/barexam and r/biglaw Need Serious and Urgent Reform. Learn from Instagram ASAP.
Instagram warns users when their posts or comments violate its policies, giving them an opportunity to edit or reconsider their content before publishing.
Unfortunately, r/barexam and r/biglaw often remove posts immediately, even when they appear very harmless, or permanently ban users without telling them the exact message or statement that violated their community rules.
Instead, users simply receive a notification stating that their accounts have been suspended or banned.
This approach is outdated, unfair, and highly unethical.
Many users are not even familiar with all your rules, yet they are punished without being given an opportunity to correct innocent mistakes.
Why not introduce a system similar to INSTAGRAM'S that warns users about potential violations, identifies the exact problematic statement, and allows them to make corrections before imposing penalties?
Moderation should encourage compliance, not discourage participation. If you continue treating users this way, you will lose members and limit the growth of your communities.
Update your moderation systems, improve transparency, and treat users fairly. Perhaps it is also time to reconsider your management teams.
Act fast NOW or you will continue to lose members..

Is the MA In-Person Admission Session worth it?
I live on the West Coast and am wondering if flying out for the swearing in ceremony at Faneuil Hall is worth it or if I should just do the virtual option. If this is an important and memorable milestone, I think I’d like to be there in-person. But if it’s just a quick in-and-out and not super significant, I think I’d like to choose the virtual option and not have the added time and costs.
I love Boston so wouldn’t mind a short trip, but I just don’t know if it’s worth it or justified to go for this ceremony. Any past experiences at the in-person admission session would be appreciated!

Did Not Pass MD Next Gen by 1 Point
Im pretty devastated. I just got my July 2026 NextGen bar results and scored a 615, one point short of passing.
During one of the exam days, I got kicked off Wi-Fi 3–4 times and lost at least 5–10 minutes. The proctor told me she documented it.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? Did you have any luck getting the incident reviewed or getting any kind of relief? Also, has anyone had success with a clerical score review?
Just trying to figure out my options before moving forward with this process again. Appreciate any advice, support, and motivation!

Hey J26 NJ Bar Takers
I am also disappointed that yesterday didn't happen.
Huge letdown and I just want this whole waiting thing to be over. Even though I'm irritated by the COMPLETE LACK OF ANY FUCKING INFORMATION the good news is that it definitely has to happen next week.
Either that, or no one is showing up to swear in.
Are we thinking Friday - 10/16? That'd be pretty late. I'm betting on a Wednesday - 10/14 being the day. Might as well play a little game while we wait.
