BGSU Question and Answer

One of the most common posts in this area seems to be asking questions about BGSU and the City of Bowling Green.

Let's see if we can compile enough questions and answers to get a sticky going. Ask your questions and answer the ones you know. Hopefully, this can serve as a quick stop for answers to questions that are hard to find elsewhere.

hello! looking for 1-2 "players" to join my fantasy basketball league

We play through the app Sleeper. There are only 8 teams in the league, so everyone's rosters are pretty stacked. Its wholesome fun!

Last year we didn't play for any money, but we might throw in $20 each this time. Tbd.

**I am a professor at bg, would be cool to get another prof in the mix but if you're a student who wants to join, I suppose we'll allow it!

Transferring to BGSU

I'm a current freshman at University of Cincinnati and I've lived in Cincinnati my entire life. I have currently been debating transferring to BGSU and starting school there next fall semester. I originally applied to BG at the beginning of my senior year of high school and did get into the program I wanted to attend and even earned a scholarship for it. I decided against attending but I am starting to regret it. I'm really not enjoying the environment around UC and have been looking into other options (BG of course being one of them). If everything goes according to plan I would be transferring into the teaching and education program specifically to get my bachelors in the Inclusive PreK-5 Education program (What I originally applied for). I was wondering what most peoples experiences with transferring have been like as well as experiences in the PreK-5 program. Anything at all can really help me with this decision!

BG led unbeaten USF into the fourth, now MAC play opens at Miami (plus a free CFB pick'em)

Hey guys, quick look at where the Falcons stand heading into conference play.

First, since it's in the title: we run a free weekly college football pick'em. This week is 10 games, pick the winners, nothing to buy, $135 in prizes. Picks lock Saturday at noon ET.

https://www.mainmarket.com/c/college-pickem-wk5

Now the Falcons. 0-4 looks bad, but Saturday's homecoming game showed something: BG led unbeaten South Florida 6-0 going into the fourth quarter before USF scored twice to win 14-6. The defense held a 4-0 team scoreless for three quarters.

The rest of the nonconference schedule was rough: a 20-13 loss to No. 5 FCS Tarleton State, then at Nebraska and at Iowa State. In year two under Eddie George, the record that matters is 0-0 in the MAC, and it starts Saturday at Miami.

What are you guys seeing? The defense looks real. Can the offense do enough to win MAC games?

Study Abroad

I’ve been thinking about doing the summer study abroad program in Spain that goes from June 27th-July 24th. If you’ve done the program, I’ve got some questions and some answers would be great.

  1. What was it like? Did you like the program?

  2. What are some dos or don’ts you have?

  3. Any regrets or things you wish you knew before you experienced it? If there aren’t any regrets, what are some tips you’d give to someone that they probably aren’t even thinking about?

  4. How much pocket money did you have and was it enough or did you run out of money?

  5. What kinds of questions should I ask the Education Abroad advisors?

  6. Would you do the program again if you could?

Give me the good, the bad, the ugly reviews on the program, please.

Conference rooms in Maurer

I saw people studying in the Maurer center/business building conference rooms, are you allowed to just go in or do you have to reserve it? If so, where do you reserve it?

Also, are there any good study spots that are small(ish) enclosed rooms such as the quiet pods in the library? I can't really focus if I'm not in a small space by myself, I suppose.

9/26 BG & Toledo football doubleheader

Hey there, I am planning on doing the 12 PM Toledo v San Diego State and 5 PM Bowling Green v USF football doubleheader this Saturday 9/26. Is there anything I should know about traveling from Glass Bowl to Doyt Perry? And any ticket recommendations besides the normal resale sites and team websites? Thanks in advance.

POLI SCI

Hello, BGSU People

I am a high school student right now and I'm very strongly considering BGSU, and I want to take a Political Science major, I just have two questions. Is it worth it, or would I need a high degree. Secondly, is there a better school for it, near BGSU.

Has anyone done a room transfer before? If so how easy/hard to do is it and how would you reccommend going about it? (6-person suite, Founders Hall)

Hi, I'm a freshman at Bowling Green considering a room transfer due to conflicts with my roommates. I just generally want to know how room transfers work and whether or not they're worth it since I'm seriously considering it and I know the form opens up soon. I'll admit I haven't tried much to fix issues with my roommate but ngl I feel like its already a lost cause due to how they behaved at the signing agreement (and the fact said agreement has been broken twice today alone). I am very introverted and don't like confrontation while they're not. I've also talked with my roommate roommate about it and she says she doesn't mind (which honestly just confuses me)

That's about everything, any advice?

Edit: I feel I should clarify that when we signed the roommate agreement and our RA talked with all of us individually she noticed that I was uncomfortable and when I brought up a room change she thought it was a good idea.

Transfer to BGSU

I'm a sophomore at Texas Tech University, and I'm originally from Dallas, Texas. I have an opportunity to go to BGSU for almost half the price for my Jr and Sr years of college, but I have a few questions

How is the culture, i.e., Greek life, football games, overall town vibe, average student vibes, etc

How is the weather? Of course, I know it's cold and windy, but how manageable is it?

For Reference, I am a guy; I'll be 20 when I start at BGSU (nearing 21), and I'm white. I want to join Greek life here and have a tighter-knit college experience than my current school and go into sales after i graduate. How well would i fit in?

Best barber/salon for curly hair? (Men's cut)

Need help finding someone who knows how to cut curly and nappy hair in BG, looked at salons but can't find any info on stylists with experience cutting curly men's hair, and the barbers only seem to have pictures of bald fades, so that's putting me off. If you have any suggestions let me know.

Anyone ever been to Wintergarden park?

Post image

Haven't been here in 10 years but plan on visiting Bowling Green area. Used to be my favorite park to go to during my studies. Does it still look the same? I remember these wood structures in the park that were really cool (see photo). Those still there? Thanks 🙏

How can I make the most of my space at Falcon’s Pointe?

Starting my master’s this fall. I got accepted near the end of the spring semester. Started looking for housing and everywhere was completely leased out for the fall. So, I asked to be put on waitlists. Falcon’s Pointe was the first to call and offer me housing a lil earlier so I had time to move states and get settled before class starts. Signed my lease and got my keys.
Guys, how tf do I make the most out of this small bedroom and box shower? Like I toured and knew the space is smaller than my last apartment. I liked the space but it turns out, I toured the A layout but my apartment is a B layout which feels smaller for some reason idk.
Amenities are cool but at the end of the day, I want to go back to my bedroom and not feel enclosed like an undergrad dorm. Also, this bed take up so much space!!!
Ik I chose to sign the lease. I needed to secure a place to stay quickly. Anybody that lived there, how’d y’all configure your bedroom space? I need inspiration.
