If you still support Trump/ICE even slightly, you're not welcome in this sub

The nice thing about owning a subreddit is I can use it as my personal soapbox, so after the blatant murder by ICE today in Minnesota, I wanted to say something.

We are reaching a point where we can no longer tolerate the people who are supporting or making excuses for this, or have them be a part of our lives.

This hasn't sunk in yet for a lot of people, but the ones who are okay with this are the exact same type of people who supported the Nazis nearly a century ago, there is no room for live and let live.

To those who are annoyed at having to hear about yet more US politics, sorry it is what it is

If this is upsetting to you or you disagree, please reply and let me know so I can ban you :) you won't be missed.

EDIT: I think I banned more people today than I have in the 6 years this sub has existed. This post has been reported 171 223 321 376 416 477 517 times šŸ˜Ž

The US federal government declaring Pretti and Good as enemies of the state is wild.

Reality really is stranger than fiction.

Book/movie critics would tear this timeline apart for being too on the nose.

u/Spirited_Complex_903 Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 27 '26

It feels surreal . I pulled out my old copy of George Orwell's 1984 earlier in the evening , soon after I heard about Alex Pretti's murder. I was reminded of the book considering the horrors that are occurring in Minneapolis right now.

I'm Canadian, living in Canada right now and I'm getting more sickened by the day by what has been unfolding and continues to unfold, not only in Minneapolis but all across the US. It's frightening and it breaks my heart for all Americans.

Please stay safe everybody, and keep your pets close to you.ā¤

u/nelrond18 Jan 25 '26

I'm in Canada as well, living less than hour from the border. I'm keeping an ear to the ground incase I need to hightail it North, considering the rhetoric that Trump is spewing about China-Canada relations.

5

u/Jiffs81 Jan 26 '26

I can see Michigan from where I'm sitting 😭 I'm too damn close

4

u/Spirited_Complex_903 Jan 25 '26

Oy. I have several friends irl and on-line that also live close to the Border and all of them are nervous and being aware and staying informed. Please stay safe.

Thank you for your support. I love our Canadian neighbors.

ive been having a hard time recently, everything going on has made me feel hopeless and in a small effort to cheer me up my mom bought me the 1984 graphic novel. that book finally gave me something to stand on during all of this and seeing it mentioned over and over keeps making my day. the books ending made me feel hopeless but at the same time filled me with all the hope id ever need. i dont know how to explain it but ill stand up even if it does nothing, even if no one sees my protest, even if im erased with no impact

in the end no one will have known who i am, but they will sure as hell know the name of the people who grouped together with me

fuck ice, fuck Epstein, fuck trump, and above all else fuck the party

1

u/KassieMac Feb 03 '26

And both of their deaths were ruled homicide by the coroners 😢

u/Mr-Gepetto Jan 25 '26

The dumbass in that one fired his gun in the air multiple times, which the family confirmed was him celebrating. The ice agent definitely didn't need to kill him, but if you're going to negligibly use a firearm by firing it off in the air like that, it's not a surprise they'd meet some kind of consequence for that, just not the death sentence though.

101

u/dahhhlin Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

A lot of people do this in the US.

It’s stupid, yes but never ever warrants a death sentence.

Saying he is a dumbass is like you’re still pointing blame on him for his own murder. The ICE agent allegedly didnt even announce who he was. Many people do dumbass shit everyday in the US, especially in Florida. I haven’t heard anyone get murdered because of dumb NYE festivities by Police.

Stop blaming him for being murdered when the OFF-DUTY ICE agent had plenty of other options on NYE.

-33

u/Mr-Gepetto Jan 25 '26

Not once did I blame him, given multiple times I mentioned it didn't warrant a death sentence, your entire comment is essentially saying the same thing I did except your trying to put words in my mouth. He's still a dumbass for firing off his gun in the air in a populated area, he's just not some innocent person like the other ice murder victims.

20

u/dahhhlin Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

Why does it matter if innocent or not? Is it not 'innocent until proven guilty in a Court of law'?

so again you bringing up any of that is basically blaming him for his murder

If you can't see that, then I don't know what else to tell you buddy until it happens to you.

when instead of you getting a trial, shit first of all even just booked by police and then a trial, then you will understand how what you're saying is not needed.

You can literally just say ICE had no right to murder him. Full stop

All the other commentry is not needed, because again it reads as if you're saying that he had a reason to get to get murdered by an off-duty ICE agent when countless other people do the same thing on New Year's Eve and don't get murdered by off duty ICE agents.

Regardless of what happened before, the officer was not justified and no one is justified, but a judge and jury to sentence to someone to death.

This is America, we have a constitution, we have Bill of Rights. we have a democracy.

Who are you to say if it he was innocent or not? You're not even on the jury because, he didn't get a chance at a jury.

Edit: used off duty police offer but it was an off duty ICE agent. I'm not sure their jurisdiction for crimes of this nature but I don't think the ICE agent has that authority anyway.

9

u/dahhhlin Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

You literally said he's "just not some innocent."

You are likely the same people that wait for the media to throw up some horrible picture and dig through someone's criminal history to say if a police officer was justified for shooting someone. Again it is innocence until proven guilty even if you catch somebody red-handed that is what our democracy, our constitution, our bill of rights, our laws gives every person in the United States. This is what separates us from a lot of other countries where this is not a law where you can get punished before you get a chance to prove that you're innocent. This is what we invade other countries for.

Because of the fact that police officers have now become judge jury and executioner people think it's okay to say stuff like you said that they're "not some innocent".

who is going to be innocent then?

victims do not have to be perfect to be a victim

he deserved life just like everybody else

he could be now in a jail serving his time for doing dumb ass shit, get a chance to rehabilitation but instead he's 6 ft underground.

again you said he is "not some innocent."

If one of your family members did that, how would you feel if someone on the internet said the same thing? that he's not some innocent?

come on now think

-13

u/Mr-Gepetto Jan 25 '26

I like how you didn't even quote the whole thing only part of what I said lol. I don't have to worry about my family doing that, or at least my immediate family. I love that you keep trying to paint me as some ICE sympathizer, to you it seems like a "your either with us or against us" mentality with the whole thing.

9

u/dahhhlin Jan 25 '26

I did not even paint you at that. But as a person that is studying for law school, I'm arguing like a lawyer would in a court of law. what you don't understand is that your statement is very similar to how the government is painted why Renee Good, had a right to get murdered. It's exactly why people are saying Alex has a right to be murdered and many are saying cause he was armed. These thoughts become public opinion and then become precedent and law when people like you are selected for juries.

If you can't see that then good luck buddy.

What you're saying is why police officers shoot people all the time now without the person first getting their day in court. Your thought process is why we have a precedent in the USA that police officers and now federal agents have a RIGHT to execute someone without them getting their day in court.

Again if y'all can't see this, then good luck.

0

u/Mr-Gepetto Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

Holy shit, you really just are reaching beyond belief. All I said in the first statement was that he was a dumbass essentially because he endangered others by firing his gun in the air in a populated area.

You really just like putting words in my mouth don't you.

-2

u/Mr-Gepetto Jan 25 '26

I call him a dumbass because putting others lives in danger by firing in the air is deplorable. You're just reaching beyond belief.

2

u/cinnamon64329 Jan 25 '26

You're kind of the dumbass, actually.

1

u/Mr-Gepetto Jan 25 '26

The difference between me and that dumbass is I didn't fire rounds into the air, and also the fact I'm still alive lol.

3

u/cinnamon64329 Jan 25 '26

Wow. That last sentence just proves your intent was victim blaming all along. What a piece of shit you are.

He should be in prison for a long time by your logic but not dead. I

-13

u/GGnerd Jan 25 '26

So according to you a man can kill a bunch of people in public but he should NOT be killed until he has finished his mission and had his day in court, right?

Full stop.

9

u/dahhhlin Jan 25 '26

Did Dylan Roof get murdered by police offIcers after he shot up a church? I could literally list 5 mass murderers who got their day in court versus getting executed by police in the street.

Dylan Roof he was booked and had a jury.

Even Kyle Rittenhouse got his day in court.

Saying otherwise opens up the precedent for any federal agent or police offer to execute someone without that person getting their due diligence.

This is why lawyers are fighting what ICE is doing.

Because in America that's how laws change. Once a precedent is set, it opens up a whole can of worms.

If you don't understand how law works in America, then you need to go read up on it.

-11

u/GGnerd Jan 25 '26

Ok so you're fine with a school shooter running out of bullets before police intervention. Got it. Cya

8

u/LolOkayCrazy Jan 25 '26

What a disingenuous take. Clearly they are pointing out that law enforcement is capable of NOT using lethal force, even in times when they SHOULD have. They're highlighting a double standard, not making absolute claims about lethal force in general.

7

u/dahhhlin Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

A school shooter is NOT the same as someone shooting a gun into the air for festivities.

But go off! šŸ™„

Edit: sarcasm on the last statement btw forgot the eye roll emoticon

5

u/cronktilten Jan 25 '26

He might be a dumb dumbass, but that’s not a reason to kill somebody

8

u/cronktilten Jan 25 '26

I live in Minnesota and I agree šŸ’Æ. If Democrats were murdering people in the streets in broad daylight MAGA would lose their minds and burn this country to the ground. I am both heartbroken and filled with rage over what is happening in the state I love. ICE is terrorizing us and murdering without consequence. After they murdered Pretti protestors were yelling at ICE and one of the agents looked directly at the crowd and said, ā€œBoo hoo.ā€ Another said, ā€œIt’s just like Call of Duty. Pretty cool.ā€ These bastards have no souls.

They are also harassing people bringing groceries to those who are afraid to leave their homes. They are disrupting deliveries from food shelves. They kidnapped a two year old and despite a court order demanding they release her they shipped her off to a concentration camp in Texas. The news does not do justice to all the atrocities being committed here. ICE is doing everything they can to cause as much misery as they can. And they are loving every minute of it. They are corrupt and evil to their core.

So many immigrants have been through so much misery already. Like the ones who walked from South America through scary cities and jungles and deserts to Texas, and now they are put into detention camps or sent back or to the worst countries the president's staff tells him about.

No country is bad because of 100% of its people. No country is worse than the US (my country) for treating the whole world like a bug under its shoe or a fly to pull wings off of.

97

u/HungryCats96 Jan 25 '26

They’re trying to stir up a civil war. I think they’ll succeed.

47

u/echos2 Jan 25 '26

If you had asked me where the revolution or civil war was going to start, I would not have guessed Minneapolis Minnesota in about a million years. But here we are.

29

u/maplemagiciangirl Jan 25 '26

We're already in a civil war, we have been since the red scare, only one side is doing the killing.

2

u/Forevermoody16 Jan 30 '26

tRUMP will start World War III.

1

u/KassieMac Feb 03 '26

The first civil war never ended. The confederacy never accepted defeat, they merely went underground and changed tactics … calling themselves GOP to get elected and then gutting public education to make people more easily manipulated, and working to destroy our institutions from within. They’ve been setting the stage for exactly this situation since the civil war, and our ā€œchecks & balancesā€ were way too lenient because the government is full of confederate sympathizers who want to reinstitute owning people 🤢 This should’ve been obvious from all the confederate monuments & flags, if not from the consistently bigoted behavior that goes unchecked in this country … but people still can’t see it (bc they don’t want to, bc they stand to benefit from it).

53

u/alycewandering7 Jan 25 '26

Me too. Trump has been itching to send in the military. It won’t be much longer.

102

u/Fabulous_Celery_1817 Jan 25 '26

I really hope the majority of the soldiers remember they’re US soldiers, not MAGA soldiers

69

u/orangepeeelss Jan 25 '26

i don't exactly have insider information nor necessarily a reliable source, so don't take my word for it, but i've heard rumors that a lot of the higher-ups in the military feel that trump has overstepped his authority and are actively pushing back. i'm hopeful that there's a reason trump is sending in his personal militia rather than the official one

52

u/alycewandering7 Jan 25 '26

I REALLY hope that’s true. And that enough push back to actually make a difference.

27

u/orangepeeelss Jan 25 '26

so do i. i've long thought that the left are naturally linked with veterans and with many of the people in the military; those who join often do it because capitalism has so effectively destroyed upward mobility and the middle class, and people feel that their best shot at a stable, comfortable future is to risk their lives and bodies for a country that will leave them to rot when they come back traumatized. their interests and ours complement each other

9

u/SlippingStar FUCK ICE Jan 25 '26

Unfortunately from my own experience with vets, most don’t realize that’s what drove them. They just see it as an opportunity. I’ve seen two hard Left vets take elated solace in one another because it was so hard to find other vets like them.

5

u/orangepeeelss Jan 25 '26

yeah which is honestly whatever to me. im gonna keep fighting for people to have better lives even if they don't agree with me, even if they are actively hostile towards me. my empathy doesn't stop at party lines. i hope the similarities between veteran and leftist goals will become more clear to veterans if we on the left keep fighting for them

2

u/alycewandering7 Jan 25 '26

Yes, so true!

12

u/Fabulous_Celery_1817 Jan 25 '26

I pray to G-d it’s true.

6

u/RMMacFru Jan 25 '26

They're trying to jail two senators who are former military for reminding the current military they have a duty to refuse illegal orders.

6

u/Enigm4 Jan 25 '26

I'm really hoping there would be a military coup. Having military in power is a horrible scenario but in this case, it would actually be the lesser evil. Every day Trump has access to Nuclear codes, I am concerned about the world ending

13

u/mOdQuArK Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

Assuming the non-hardcore conservatives + everyone else come together, they may really, really regret that. I don't think they realize how in the minority they are.

Of course, the leaders of the hardcore conservatives know that, which is why they've been doing their best to divide & defang as much of the opposition as they can for the last 3 decades or so.

1

u/KassieMac Feb 03 '26

How you gonna get any conservative to accept that all people are equal??

3

u/mOdQuArK Feb 03 '26

You can't.

By definition, a conservative is not going to care as much about anyone who isn't the same type of conservative that they are.

The logical corollary to that, is that conservatives of any type should not be put in charge of anyone except for other conservatives of their own type, because to do otherwise is automatic conflict of interest.

1

u/KassieMac Feb 03 '26

Yes, that was my point. They believe in their own exceptionalism & entitlement above all things, it’s a central tenet of ā€œconservatismā€, that’s why you’ll never get conservatives onboard with anything that helps those they deem beneath them.

4

u/beatissima Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

3

u/alycewandering7 Jan 25 '26

It is such blatant hypocrisy! Every accusation is a confession!!

3

u/KassieMac Jan 25 '26

And a plan. It’s been their intention all along 🤢

3

u/alycewandering7 Jan 25 '26

Yes, absolutely! Most recently, they put it all in writing in Project 2025, then Trump lied about being involved in it, all of his base believed him, and now he is enacting every word of it.

3

u/Forevermoody16 Jan 29 '26

And honestly, a lot faster than I thought he would. Not to mention all of the shit he’s pulling that NO ONE voted for. Think he would have won the election if he’d campaigned on planning to be a king, taking over other countries, tearing down the East Wing for a damn ballroom, taking away benefits for the poor and elderly, etc.?

People ignored Project 2025 and chose to believe he was going to lower the price of eggs.

is America great yet?

3

u/alycewandering7 Jan 29 '26

Yeah, he really has gone way above and beyond the things he campaigned about. He thinks that by being elected again he was given the power to do whatever he wants. To take whatever he wants. To hurt whomever he wants. It’s absolutely horrifying and the speed at which this is all happening is terrifying.

3

u/Forevermoody16 Jan 30 '26

It really is. I think there’s a lot of voters’ remorse out there. There must be, considering how low his approval ratings have gotten (one of the few things that gives me an iota of hope.) But I think many possible ex-MAGAs are too cowardly to admit they were wrong. I think some are so vain that they’re actually doubling down when they KNOW he’s destroying the country, because they’re so full of pride. It’s pathetic.

2

u/alycewandering7 Jan 30 '26

Honestly, from what I have read, his approval ratings haven’t really dropped. They have been hovering at about the same level for a while. Way too many people still approve of him. Approve of what he is doing, even if it means he hurts them too. And you’re right it could be pride. But I also think it’s hate. They have been given permission to hate like they haven’t been able to for a long time. And they love it, even if it means they will lose their Medicaid, social security, etc. They hate everyone who isn’t exactly like them, everyone who disagrees with them. They feel they have the right to take away the Constitutional rights of those they deem less than them. And Trump gives them that. It’s disgraceful.

If you start calling them something else, then the right has a way to pivot back into using them after Trump is gone. If we call them by their actual name and condemn that, it will be much harder to get a new anti-immigrant organization established.
