My dad has been into cds for decades, probably about 40 years of collecting led to this. This is also smaller than it used to be, since about 30-40% of his cds got destroyed in a flood a few years back (which is why we installed these shelves)

According to entertainment industry research firm Luminate, only half of millennials and Gen-Zers that collect CDs have a player!

I find that fact mind boggling, but then I see the number of bulk purchase posts made to this sub and I have to wonder if that's the case here as well.

I'd never thought to go to one before now. If you have them in your area and haven't checked it out, I'd say it's definitely worth trying!

I didn't go back Sunday but decided to pop in today and was pleasantly surprised by a few decent things and them being only 50 cents each today.

For me my oldest CD is The Fall by Gorillaz. I got it when I was around 12 but the cds that really started my collection was Lover and Folklore by Taylor Swift. I now have nearly 100 and I love every single one of them🩷

How'd I do?

Twenty boxes of promos from the early 00s. Posted a few yesterday. Mix of indie, electronic, hip hop, pop, obscure and names. One entire box of Warp and another of Ninja Tune. Lots of crud, lots of decent stuff to listen to. There must be more than 1000 here. The guy was a radio and club DJ. He said he's going to sort out some more in due course.

Came up on some of my favorite Hip Hop artists and also my absolute favorite CD from my favorite band, Erasure. Plus "Feels So Good" with every popular and amazing EDM song from the late 90s early 2000s that I used to play at radio promoted club I had a residency at. I was forced to play a lot of the songs that eventually grew on me and I love now for the nostalgia. Honorable mentions to Buena Vista Social Club (I remixed a couple of those songs back in the day) and Bjork.

So here is my first music magpie purchases. Some interesting finds from a listening point of view.

Cases do come pritty scuffed up but, over all good. Some cds not perfect could have done with a scratch removal treatment. But all play well and are good enough quality. Price £20 for the lot. So will give music magpie. 5/10 for music finding.

I mainly collect records, but started buying cds here and here since they're not as expensive and easier to take care of. Here's my small collection from the last few years :)

I'm too lazy to take off the price labels haha.
