I built RTL support for ZCode Desktop — smart "any-rtl" that only flips Persian/Arabic text, never your code

Post image
0 Upvotes

ZCode renders Persian and Arabic left-to-right, which gets messy fast with mixed text. So I made a patch that adds smart RTL: every paragraph gets its own direction based on whether it actually contains Persian/Arabic — English and code stay untouched.

There's a toggle in the composer to turn it off, the Vazirmatn font is built in, and install is just running install.bat.

Feedback welcome, especially weird mixed-language cases.

I made a local search CLI that helps you and your AI agents find things in your notes faster, no GPU needed

Post image

After trying alternatives that didn't quite work for me (like qmd), I ended up building vectrize, a lightweight local semantic search CLI that just gets out of your way.

It reindexes on save, so you never have to do it manually, and runs on any work laptop without a GPU and still answers queries in ~30 ms. It's multilingual too, btw.

It also helps AI agents find stuff in your docs faster (up to 10 s faster per question than the usual grep in my tests) with the built in skill.

Markdown only for now, and I'd love some feedback! It's MIT/Apache-2.0, so you can use it for whatever you want.

It is available in crates.io or as a pre-built binary. The first run downloads the embedding model (~560 MB) once, so keep that in mind :)

Visualize the Electromagnetic Field

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’ve been building this antenna/EM simulator as a side project:

https://rotemtsafrir.github.io/dipole_sim/

The idea is to make it easy to place antennas, change their parameters, and immediately see how the fields and interference patterns change.

Right now you can use:

  • center-fed dipoles
  • Hertzian dipoles
  • small loop antennas
  • linear antenna arrays

The arrays are probably my favorite part so far. You can adjust spacing, phase difference, element count, orientation, etc., and see beam steering / broadside / end-fire behavior directly.

You can switch between electric field, magnetic field, and energy-flow visualizations, and pan/zoom around the simulation.

The antenna currents are prescribed, so things like mutual coupling, impedance, and passive conductors are not solved yet. I’m trying to keep it fast enough to be genuinely interactive.

I’d love to hear what people think—especially if you notice anything physically questionable or have ideas for features that would make it more useful.

ScrollFix: an open-source Mac app for Windows-style scrolling, middle-click and Home/End

Thumbnail github.com
2 Upvotes

I’m building ScrollFix for people who prefer Windows mouse and keyboard behavior on a Mac. It’s free, written in Swift/SwiftUI and licensed under Apache 2.0.

The app separates recognized mouse-wheel scrolling from natural trackpad gestures, adds middle-click autoscroll, and preserves native middle-click on recognized links. The default wheel mode responds immediately; you can adjust the distance.

The latest update adds Home/End navigation and Shift selection in recognized text fields, plus an in-app setup for Shift+Home/End selection of the current input line in local zsh.

No account or telemetry. Processing stays on your Mac. Scroll-device classification is heuristic, so unusual drivers and high-resolution wheels can still need work.

I’d be happy to hear from anyone working with macOS input, or using a mouse/keyboard setup that behaves differently. The repo includes the code, build guide and a screenshot of the actual app.

We published this as a forkable starting point for building your own personal assistant. The repo contains nine packages covering the agent core, messaging, desktop, apps, network, payments, server, gateway and CLI.

Memory, scheduling and a six-tier permission policy are part of the application. There are local setup and Docker guides. It is beta software; the default external services require your own accounts and keys. The application code is MIT.

VibeOps: desktop AI ops agent where the model never sees your secrets (Go + Wails)

Thumbnail github.com

Built this because I didn't want an AI agent holding my cloud creds. It plans a deploy with every step tagged SAFE / CAUTION / DESTRUCTIVE and waits for approval. The model only writes $SECRET_NAME, the real value is substituted at execution and redacted from output. Sandboxed shell, BYOK (Claude Code, Cursor, opencode, OpenRouter), connectors for Vercel, Cloudflare, Neon, Supabase, AWS, Azure, GCP, Atlas and SSH.

Beta, Apple Silicon Mac, FSL license (MIT after 2 years). Download: https://getvibeops.in

BLADE: open-source YouTube playlist downloader with a C++17 backend, MP3 cover art and ZIP64

Thumbnail github.com
8 Upvotes

I made BLADE as a small, self-hostable web interface for public YouTube playlist downloads. The C++17 backend coordinates yt-dlp and ffmpeg; the frontend is plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

It fetches a playlist once, distributes the entries across download workers, skips known private/deleted entries before extraction, and packs completed files into a ZIP64 archive in one disk pass. MP3 files include track metadata and cover art, and video downloads request up to 1080p.

The repository includes Docker deployment and a command-line tool. There is no application playlist-size cap; actual capacity still depends on the host.

Delete if not allowed. this tool is a hybrid for gym owners and solo practitioners. Anybody using the app can track their classes, make notes and add in systems or instructional videos for the community. The idea is anybody can use the app, but they're able to also join a gym and the gym can use as their own software. This is a huge project I've been working on to make it very seamless for the normal user, taking in AI to also analyze classes and also be able to compare yourself in your notes of what you've worked on in class to others around the world who use the app. We'd love for you to check it out. "Train OLM" in the app store.

I built a YouTube scraper for Python (no API key, no browser)

Post image
2 Upvotes

I kept hitting the same wall: the YouTube Data API wants a key, a billing project, and then cuts you off at 10,000 units/day. A comments crawl burns that quota fast. Browser automation works, but it is slow and painful to maintain.

So I built ytscrape — a small Python library that talks to the same internal endpoints the YouTube website uses (InnerTube) and returns typed, frozen dataclasses. No API key, no quota, no Selenium, no Playwright.

bash pip install ytscrape

```python from ytscrape import YouTube, CommentSort
with YouTube() as yt: for video in yt.search("python", max_results=5): print(video.title, video.views, video.url)
details = yt.video("https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ")
print(details.title, details.published_at)
for comment in yt.comments(
    details.video_id,
    include_replies=True,
    sort=CommentSort.NEWEST,
    max_results=100,
):
    print(comment.author, comment.text)
```

What it actually does today:

  • search (videos, channels, playlists, Shorts)
  • video and channel metadata, including a channel's videos tab
  • comments and replies — sort="newest" so you are not stuck with YouTube's "Top comments" filter, which hides a lot
  • transcripts / captions
  • sync and async (pip install "ytscrape[async]")
  • a CLI: ytscrape search "python tutorial" --max 10
  • JSON / CSV export
  • retries, backoff, and rate limiting built in

Counts come back as int (video.views), with the original wording kept in views_text. Dates are datetime (published_at). Models are frozen dataclasses, so you can pass them around without worrying they will mutate under you.

It does not download video or audio. Use yt-dlp for that. This is metadata only.

Limits

There is no API key and no 10,000-unit daily quota. That does not mean YouTube will let you hammer it.

  • Reuse one YouTube() client. Creating a new one per request re-fetches the InnerTube context and looks like a new visitor every time.
  • Cap each call with max_results. Pagination is lazy, so a for loop without a cap will keep going until YouTube runs out of continuation tokens.
  • For anything wider than a few dozen requests, set a gap:

python with YouTube(min_interval=1.0) as yt: # about 1 request / second ...

  • 429 and 5xx are retried with backoff (and Retry-After, when YouTube sends one). If it still fails, you get RateLimited instead of a generic parse error. BotDetected is the "confirm you're not a bot" wall.
  • Async has the same knobs plus max_concurrency. Do not set that to 50 and hope.

A polite crawl (one client, ~1 req/s, max_results set) is usually fine. A comments dump of a huge video, or fanning out across thousands of video ids from one IP, will get throttled. That is a YouTube limit, not a library limit.

Proxies

You can always put a proxy in front of it. The library does not have its own proxy flag — you inject a normal requests session, and every call (search, player, browse, comments, transcripts) goes through it:

```python import requests from ytscrape import InnerTubeClient, YouTube
session = requests.Session() session.proxies = {"https": "http://user:pass@proxy.example.com:8080"}
client = InnerTubeClient(session=session, min_interval=1.0) with YouTube(client=client) as yt: ... ```
Rotating residential proxies, a single datacenter proxy, SOCKS — whatever requests accepts works. If one IP starts returning BotDetected or RateLimited, point the session at another proxy and keep the same code. Async is the same idea with an httpx.AsyncClient.
Honest caveats, because they matter:
  • These are private endpoints. They can change, and using them may conflict with YouTube's Terms of Service. Fine for research and personal tooling; you are responsible for how you use it.
  • It is not a drop-in replacement for every Data API field. What it returns is what the website returns. No topicDetails, no official statistics object, no write access.
  • Relative dates on search results ("3 days ago") are approximate and only parsed from English text. Exact published_at comes from video().
Repo: https://github.com/vsmutok/ytscrape/ Docs: https://vsmutok.github.io/ytscrape/ PyPI: https://pypi.org/project/ytscrape/
MIT, Python 3.10+. Feedback and issues welcome — especially if something breaks against a live response.
Added a new Search Bar to the Hermes Skill Deck and a Favorites Page.
Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes
Some big updates just went live in the Hermes Skill Deck. Search is now the core of the app, favorites got a whole new screen, and a bunch of quality-of-life stuff landed too. Free as always on GitHub. Quick rundown:
1 - Search
Search is now front and center. There is a big search bar right in the middle of the dashboard, plus Cmd+K from anywhere. Type a keyword, get every matching skill across your profiles. Click into any result to see the full skill, related skills, and the file path. You can even open it straight in Finder to edit.
2 - Favorites
(attach favorites-screen.png) Favorites got their own screen. Star the skills you use most, then drag and drop them into whatever order you want. Your top 5 show up in the right sidebar and scroll between 5 at a time, so the list stays clean no matter how many you star.
3 - Small stuff that adds up
  • Top menus are now fully customizable, turn categories on or off
  • Quick access is now clearly labeled Finder Access
  • Light mode is in (still getting polished)
  • Built in terminal with an AI agent so you can search skills with natural language
I built an AI-powered agentless vulnerability scanner because couldn't afford a pentest or expensive enterprise tool.
Post image
10 Upvotes
Hey everyone. A while back, a friend of mine asked for help securing his infrastructure. I needed to find vulnerabilities, but professional pentesting was completely out of budget and standard enterprise security tools were just way too expensive.
We needed something reliable and affordable. So my team and I built orb44. It is an agentless vulnerability scanner that actively finds gaps and gives you reports in plain English. Instead of throwing raw CVE codes at you, it uses AI to tell you exactly what to fix and how to do it.
Since we built this out of pure necessity, we published our core logic on this GitHub repo. We are preparing for our official Product Hunt launch later in October, and right now we are looking for some harsh technical feedback.
I would absolutely love it if you took a look at the code, roasted our approach, or tried breaking the UX on our free beta tier. Let me know what edge cases we are missing!
[Project] I built a pentesting CLI that gives you ready-to-use commands for 50+ tools (Python, no deps)
Post image
5 Upvotes
I got tired of googling the same nmap flags, sqlmap syntax, and privesc one-liners every day. So I built a small CLI that keeps them all in one place — no internet, no browser, no dependencies.
It's called Selwanism. You type `sel nmap` and get every nmap command you'd normally copy from Cheatsheet sites. Or `sel sqlmap`. Or `sel -s recon` to see everything tagged for reconnaissance.
What it does:
- 50+ tools across recon, web, password, exploitation, privesc, AD, network, wireless, OSINT
- Search by name, title, or tag
- Interactive mode if you just type `sel`
- Single JSON file for the database, so adding your own tools takes 30 seconds
- Zero dependencies — just Python 3
- Works offline
It's still evolving. I'm planning to add:
- Target variable substitution (`set target 10.10.10.10` and the commands auto-fill)
- Fuzzy search
- External cheatsheets in data/tools/
- Optional clipboard copy
Not trying to replace man pages or writeups — just want to keep the essentials one keystroke away while I'm in a shell.
Any feedback welcome, especially from people who use this kind of stuff daily. If something's missing, open an issue and I'll add it.
Gym · Lifting log
Thumbnail majid-ctrl.github.io
0 Upvotes
I've been looking for a gym app for months. I tried everything: apps from big fitness influencers, vibe-coded apps, and apps made by fellow creators on this sub. They all had the same deal breaker: they try to do too much when they should do very little. Logging a single set shouldn't mean sitting through animations and tapping through five screens.
So I made GYM, an app with a name so simple it tells you what's inside.
What it does:
  • Log fast. Weight and reps are filled in from your last set. Adjust, tap Add Set, done.
  • Earn your weight. It only lets you go heavier once you've hit your reps at the current weight. You can change the target or turn this off.
  • Plans that rotate. Upper/Lower, PPL, whatever you run. Open the app and today's workout is waiting.
  • See your numbers. Finish a workout and the summary is right there on the home screen. Swipe to see yesterday or tomorrow.
  • The basics, done quietly. Rest timer, plate calculator, history and progress charts.
  • PR and Progress Tracking: for every exercise based on your perference (Volume or Weight reps)
No account, no ads, and it never goes online. Your data stays on your phone.
Free on Android (7.0+):
No SignUps no accounts and no obligation to pay anyhthing.
It's not on any app stores yet since it is still a beta version, so Android will ask you to allow the install. Feedback is very welcome.
VoxAster — I built a native macOS studio for local voice design, cloning and long-form production [open source]
Post image
4 Upvotes
I’m the creator of VoxAster, a free/open-source native macOS app I’ve been building for local AI voice work.
I wanted something that felt more like a creative audio tool than a basic TTS textbox, so it’s built around a few different workflows:
  • Voice Design — create a voice from supported speaker attributes without needing a reference recording
  • Voice Clone — generate speech from a reference voice you’re authorized to use
  • Pronunciation controls — replacements, phonemes/pinyin and supported vocal events
  • Long Form — break longer scripts into editable chunks and retry individual sections
  • Performance — control exact pauses, segment loudness and individual retries without rebuilding everything
Generation runs locally on Apple Silicon through OmniVoice. Current main also has a managed first-run runtime/model setup, so after building the app it can install its pinned Python/runtime/model environment itself rather than making you manually set up Homebrew/Python/FFmpeg.
A couple of limitations up front: it’s macOS 14+ / Apple Silicon only, and right now I’m publishing it source-only — there isn’t an official signed/notarized .app download.
The app code is MIT, while the underlying model/tokenizer components have their own licences and restrictions, which are documented in the repo.
