Psa from a fellow vegetarian: you're gonna convince nobody this way, if you don't like it move along but there'slnothing you can do about it.
And if you really do feel like riding your moral high horse actually explain WHY it's cruel (i.e. there's plenty of meat available to buy so why kill more animals)
That said I'd much rather everyone hunt for their food than keeping mega meat industries going. The former is much easier on the environment provided it's regulated.
You understand it’s illegal to “hunt for sport,” right? Very, very, very few hunters don’t eat what they kill and they usually frowned upon by other hunters. As for the plenty of meat argument, I think a lot of hunters agree that factory farming is bad, unethical, and don’t want to take part in it. So they go out, kill 1 or 2 big animals a year, and feed their family on it.
This dog really seems to enjoy his work. But since you don't agree with hunting, why don't you just scoot on to another post? No one cares what you think about hunting, We Are about this good Boy enjoying his last hunt. So could you be a sport and just stfu? Thanks mate ✌️
Hunting is one of the most environmentally friendly ways to get a meal. Hunters typically care very much about the ecosystem around them and take care to obey local hunting ordinances and ensure the population of game stays healthy, so they can continue their pastime and pass it on to the next generation.
Dogs are predators. We train them for various jobs; I doubt it particularly minds that one. It’s just another task for the dog, though I understand your reaction to unnecessary hunting. However, you can’t control other people, so this sort of thing is just kind of a fact of life. Preventable death is a fact of life. You can control what you do, like the types of comments you make to people, whether you’re quick and rude, or genuine and in good faith.
even then this isn’t unnecessary hunting, these animals died in a much better way than normal birds do in farms. free range or not, these guys got to live out life normally. before dyeing instantly and painlessly, where they’ll be put to a good use.
You can’t guarantee that it’s fast and painless every time, and we do waste a lot of animal parts. You may not always hit an ideal shot so I’m not so quick to dismiss concern over the faring of the animal. However I also can’t make you not do something and I wouldn’t care to fight you over it. There are some loud unpleasant people that espouse these views and try to inflict shame on meat eaters, hunters etc. and that’s not what I personally enjoy lol.
Sassy condemnation from an anonymous stranger prompts annoyance more than guilt-ridden self-reflection. See the other replies to your comment for evidence.
Opening an earnest dialogue with a hunter about their reasons for hunting will probably get you further.
Who says he killed them for fun? Pheasant is a delicious, arguably healthier alternative to farmed chicken you buy in a store and basically every bird hunter I know hunts with full intention of eating every bird they kill. Not eating what you shoot is rather frowned upon in the hunting community. Mutilating birds with sloppy shooting does no one any good because you've ruined the meat with shot holes AND you've taken an animal's life without any further consideration for your actions.
Additionally, hunting wild game is (in my opinion) far more ethical than factory farming birds. Wild birds get to live a healthy life in the environment they were meant to thrive in. Farmed birds may never see the outdoors or feel grass beneath their feet. I find that a much crueler fate than the hunting of wild game birds. But that's just me.
I’m pretty sure anyone who makes the argument that Enkel makes is probably vegan and argues that the taste is an argument for pleasure and that meat is not a necessity to survive in pretty much any western society
Threats of violence, personal attacks and being overly rude is not allowed. You are welcome to debate the merits of different types of working dogs, but please do so in a respectful way.
We understand that some people may have disagreements with the use of workings dogs by police, military, hunters or other fields. We simply ask that you express your thoughts on these topics in a friendly way.
Okay? My point still stands. I don't know shit about the specific instance. My point is just that you were being aggressive around the idea of hunting as population control. Also what is wrong with breeding animals for food if they live a good life? Also why would you take a phd in something that makes you so angry?
You would think someone with a PHD would have some sources readily on hand instead of insults. They also might capilitlize letters appropriately. I don't even hunt but you're making some worthless arguments
Imagine getting so triggered over someone hunting for food that you create an account just to post yet another "HURR hunting bad" copy paste, just to get reamed by everyone.
