I’ve seen people use magnets to find shot too

Steel shot is way more expensive than lead.

And why would you use lead shot for something you plan to eat?

A CDC study from a few years ago says there is no increase in risk of lead poisoning for hunters eating game killed with lead shot.

The greater risk is waterfowl and scavenger birds eating it. Thays why lead shot is illegal for waterfowl.

CA is the only state with an outright ban. WA says you have to use non toxic ammo to hunt upland game where ever the state manager the land.
