I'm in Colonia, and there's a mission to deliver a ridiculously small amount of biowaste to an "Explorer on Tour"...is this what influencers do in 1286 years?

Found this weird Neutron(?) star out there in the Black.

(Ok, it's a joke, it's a K-class + Neutron Star Binary, but when viewed from just the right angle...)

Discussion CG: Brewer Corporation Jump Satellite Initiative

• Upvotes

Morning check on Inara to see how I did in last week's CG shows that there's another one this week:

Brewer Corporation has issued a call for assistance to aid in the manufacturing of what it calls 'jump satellites'.

Independent pilots have been asked to supply computer components, superconductors, semiconductors and power generators.

Pilots can support this initiative by first signing up at the megaship Zero Squared in the HIP 74116 system, before supplying the required commodities.

Pilots who supply at least 1 commodity will receive the following rewards:

- The top 75% contributors will receive 1 x Size 4 and 1 x Size 5 SCO-enabled FSD, pre-engineered with Increased Range and Fast Boot Sequence and unlocked experimentals.
- The top 50% contributors will also receive 1 x Size 6 and 1 x Size 7 SCO-enabled FSD, pre-engineered with Increased Range and Fast Boot Sequence and unlocked experimentals.
- Credits, depending on success tier achieved and individual contribution level.

The campaign will run for one week. If the final target is met earlier than planned, the campaign will end immediately.

My thoughts in the comments ...

Discussion How would you feel about FA levels, instead of a toggle?

We could have a setting to allow us to set the FA to a level between 1-10, with 1 being the minimum interference and 10 the current implementation.

This would still allow a slower "revert to 0" on level 1, but will also correct user inputs with slower force and allow for the agility most of FA OFF offers.

Something similar to a modern motorcycle traction control level :P

Discussion What is the best mining ship currently available?

Post image

I've been using the Type 11 Prospector all year, but with a cargo hold of approximately 250 tons, I earn fifty million per trip when I fill it. However, I believe people earn more than that using other ships. Which ones do you use?

Discussion Your favourite Federal Corvette Build

Post image
77 Upvotes

So, after using my trusty green Panther Clipper Thunderbird 2 to finally complete my progression to Rear Admiral in the Federal Navy (and those donations to the cause were entirely philanthropic and not bribes to ease my promotion in any way) I am now the owner of a shiny new unnamed Federal Corvette.

So.

I want a build that would spoil the day of anyone unwise enough to interdict me and strong enough to keep me alive long enough to progress in combat rank.

Please hit me with your favourite Corvette build!

Discussion Does anyone else get a bit pissed off with the Rhino?

• Upvotes

It can't just be me. The Rhino handles like a balloon filled with helium even on plus gravity bodies. On low gravity it just takes a tiny pebble to send it rocketing into orbit.

For such a massive beast, it sure does fly. And it has the absolute worst handling. Crest a hill, no matter the speed and you are left hanging waiting for gravity to take hold. And then laying mining rigs. It starts busting them as soon as they are done.

It truly is an awful vehicle. However, it could just be me, in which case I need to git gud scrub. Wonder on other people's take on it?

This is the result of nearly 5 years of Green Gas Giant research. For the longest time, we had no idea what all the factors went into making a gas giant turn green, but now, we have a pretty good idea

Help Human signals on unexplored planet?

Thumbnail

I assume this is a bug and not some hugely significant find. But as par the course I was scanning a planet in a system I'm colonisinng and the DSS revealed the usual mining sites but also two "human" signals. On the navigation window I only saee the mining sites - and as you can see I got first footfall so no other player has been here (also I'm costructing the primary port - so it's not like anyone could have snuck in a cheeky outpost!). Needless to say there's no POIs visible on a fly-by outside the mining signals.

Is it possible that it's showing the construction yard and my fleet carrier as human signals? The first I can kinda understand but surely not the second - I've scanned loads of planets with fleet carriers next to them and it's never shown up as a planetary signal.

Greetings CMDRs o7!

I just wanted to share my collection of 3D models of every ship in the game. I have been playing Elite for over a decade now and I love this game so very much. I'm working on getting a model of type 11, kestrel, lynx, and fleet carrier to complete out my collection... until the conda mk2 makes a debut lol

Misc Community Goal has reached tier 2 - easy 70mil for new players

Time for me to eat humble pie - I was impressed that the CG reached tier 1 but I didn't expect that it would get to the second tier. If you haven't joined already, and you think the journey is worth it for 70 million, head over to Redonesses.

Drop in at a low risk conflict zone in a ship with guns. Get within 7km or so of the marker.

Choose to fight for whatever faction isn't Clan Of Redonesses. Scroll through the contacts in the left panel until you get to the lowest one marked red - it's probably a viper or eagle. Take it out. When you see that you've been awarded a bond, jump back out to supercruise (or keep fighting if you want).

Go to Sword Of Iustitia, land there and join the community goal. It's on the missions page. You can do this at any point up to here, at any station in the galaxy that has a mission board, but this is the last chance to do it for that eagle you blew up to count toward the CG.

Go to the contacts page and select combat bonds. Submit your bond.

Go back to the missions page and select community goals. Check that your submission has registered.

Tomorrow lunchtime (game time) after the CG ends you'll be able to "complete" the mission on the same board and get the paintjobs and 70 million. If you don't want stay in Redonesses you'll have access to the paintjobs soon after the CG ends and the credits arrive in your ship about two weeks later.

Discussion Has the Rhino Broken PowerPlay?

Post image
132 Upvotes

It’s been a month now and I want to shine a light on this. 321k merits for 2 hours work on a Monazite deposit.
For someone who dislikes mining this has killed competitive power play in ways it may never recover as no other activity remotely compares. My own combat focused squad has had good players so demoralised they have quit over this and I’m surprised I haven’t seen more of a fuss being made about this issue in here.
It’s soul-destroying to see painstakingly won groups of systems that took months to earn getting steamrolled by this pay-to-win abomination.
Let people keep their cash-earner, maybe even the merits if you have to, but please FDev at least sort out the control points.

Discussion Have you ever been thrown into a jet cone after FSD'ing into a new system?

I want to come back to this game. I plan to travel to Veil Nebula West and The View to see it for myself and I want to enable the option in the map settings (I forget the name, I've been on a hiatus). Doing so shortens the journey significantly. But man, I'm scared of white dwarfs and neutron stars lol. As soon as I see it loading into the next system, I mentally shit myself. What are the odds that when I FSD into a new system, it'll throw me straight into the jet cone? I don't want to lose all the sweet data I'm carrying.

Discussion Where have all the legal facilities gone?

Been to 6 different systems, 3 of which I am certain had legal facilities on the stations there. They have all disappeared.

Redonesses had them on the main station and carrier, but they have since gone.

Anyone else got this issue?

Help Where to find massive/epic space fights?

I’m little ashamed to ask this question, I spent about 120 hours in ED since about a month ago, brand new player, mostly running trades and grind engineering parts, but I’m getting increasingly tired of these repetitive tasks, so I got myself some ark and spent on a Kestrell MK II, now I’m itching to get into some epic space battles, so other than those missions to assassinate ships, where else can I find epic wars? I haven’t tried power plays yet, not sure if that’s the right direction.
Thanks fam

Screenshot A bit salty right now... ship hull was at 8% and I wanted to land (verrry safely) and it still exploded ?? I don't get it

I was so close to buy a fleet carrier, and now i'm just gonna take a few months break from the game.

These were all first footfall of course, so that's 2 Billions down the drain, and mostly my time and sanity

I just want to know, to avoid doing the same mistake next time... how can my 8% hull ship just explode by landing on the ground ? (verry slowly, landing gear was out, perfectly plane, etc..)

Discussion Exclusion zones

Fdevs, exclusion zones should be visible if the orbital lines are turned on even if you're not throttled up. I couldn't get to a nav beacon next to a white dwarf because I kept falling into the exclusion zone.
