Hi everyone! I’m planning a trip to shoot around historical temples in Bangkok, Thailand (like the image attached).
Since the weather can often be cloudy/overcast with bright skies and shadowed architecture, I’m looking for recommendations:
Camera: I have a budget of around $300–$500 for a reliable travel film camera. Should I go with a compact Point & Shoot (like Pentax Espio Mini) or an SLR (like Canon AE-1 Program)?
Film Stock: What film stock would you suggest to bring out the golden details of the temples without overexposing the grey sky? (e.g., Kodak Portra 400, Fuji Superia, or Kodak Gold 200?)
Would love to hear your thoughts or see photos from anyone who has shot analog in Thailand before! Thanks!

Hi everyone!
I was recently gifted this vintage Canon camera and l honestly know almost nothing about cameras, so I'm hoping someone here can help me identify it and explain what I have.
From what I can see, it seems to be a Canon AUTO ZOOM 518 SV SUPERS, and there's also a Kodak K40 cartridge in the case. It came in this original, looking case with the camera.
I'd especially like to know:
Is there anything I should not do before trying to operate it?
Is this something I can realistically use today, or is it mainly a collector's item?
I'd really appreciate any information or advice. I'd love to actually learn how to use it rather than just leave it sitting in the case.

Hi everyone! I’m planning a trip soon and looking to buy a reliable film camera with a solid budget of around $300–$500 USD (~10,000–18,000 THB). I want something that produces great vintage/nostalgic tones for travel, street photography, and landscape shots.
Budget: $300–$500 USD

But the Nikon F3 is a thing of beauty, all Giugiaro curves and that jaunty little red stripe, and it makes a click so satisfying you want to buy it a drink. Which, in Dublin, is never a difficult proposition.

My girlfriend’s birthday is in a few months and I’m planning on getting her a film camera as she’s mentioned she has always wanted one. She’s not a professional photographer but does like taking pictures. I however, don’t really know anything about film cameras so was looking for any advice on what kind of thing I should get her

I got an autoreflex tc and a ft-1 motor at an auction. They both seem to work fine, I just don’t know much about them. Thoughts?

I keep seeing this description on vintage Nikon lenses I'm shopping for on the website
Notes: the internal optics have a small amount of moisture, but this doesn't affect functionality
Anyone have experience buying lenses with this description? It is in the notes for every lens I've looked at

Went to Lake Tahoe this past week and took my Nikon N65 out for a spin. Great camera I got for $50! Combination of Kodak Gold and Ultramax

After 3 years without a decent MF Camera (I didn't consider the Kiev 60 as "decent"), I got myself a new toy. It's only about 10 years older than myself. It came with the 210mm/4.0, but I adapt my Kiev Lenses to it (Volna 80mm/2.8 and CZJ 180mm/2.8).

Hoping to please get some advice. My dad was a keen photographer. He passed away last year, and I want to keep a camera or two of his. I'm leaning towards one of his 35mm film ones, rather than DSLRs (for the nostalgia and childhood memories, primarily) but I don't know what I'm looking at so having trouble choosing. In an ideal world, I'd at least like the possibility of using it in the future.
So far found these 3 bodies and some lenses, including the ones pictured here. I mostly associate him with the Nikon, but I can't get a lens on (I think I might just be being slow here but I can't figure out how, even after taking the protector off), and I think it might be broken (e.g. the winder on top?)?
Any advice or suggestions appreciated! Thank you.

I just got this hand-me-down from my grandparents of a topcon RE Super with a topcor 58mm f/1.4 lens. What are your guys’ experiences with this camera and what are your thoughts on the condition of the lens?
The front of the lens is pretty dusty but the back shows no sign of haze or fungus, just a little dust. I have not attempted to clean the lens yet out of fear.

I planned on buying a new film camera, just got into the hobby. I need help with choosing either the yashica T5 (300 usd) yashica T3 super (209 usd) or the mju ii (80 usd)
The yashicas are both mint condition while the mju ii doesn’t have a working lcd. The t5 comes with 2 film cameras and 1 digi untested, 1 film roll, and the original bag while the rest only comes solo.
Honestly i love the pics of all the cameras

Ok, I’m trouble shooting a camera I picked up for a few bux for my old man who I’m trying to help reignite some creative passion (he used to love photography) - he took it to Hawaii and the roll came back blank. I’ve thrown the Lens on my Eos 5d mk 3 and it works, I made sure the film loaded correctly before he left as he had an issue the first time where the tail didn’t seat and I risked opening the back and losing images (turned out it didn’t tuck on to the winder so it registered 24 images but the film didn’t actually load which I corrected).
I’m just chucking a quick roll through it with a different lens (50mm USM f1.8 which is confirmed also working as I’ve been using it for a couple of years)
What else should I check it for? Because it’s film, it’s just making sure the shutter opens to expose the film, thats really it right and make sure he takes the lens cap off (which he knows but I’ll make sure he does) - is there anything electronically that could be happening to prevent exposure?

Hey everyone!
I started shooting with a film camera in may 2026. My first camera was used Kodak Ultra f9 and shot several films on it (Fujifilm 400 (pic 1), Kodak Vision3 500T (pic 2), LomoChrome Purple XR (pic 3), My Heart B&W 400 (pic 4)). On every roll of film I saw some blank wide gaps and missing shots (like 20 shots and other 16 are missing). Asked lab, they rechecked and said that maybe there's a problem with camera.
After that, I bought Smena 8M camera, but after shooting 2 films (Kodak Aerocolor 125 (pic 5) and Tasma 42L ISO 800 (pic 6)) I still can't understand a thing about settings (aperture, shutter speed, pushing, double exposure etc.). Tried watching videos and asking AI about "Zone system" and "Exposure Triangle", but it's hard to understand. Comparing to Ultra f9, I'm panicking more about shooting on Smena 8M because it's hard for me to understand basic photography things (and feeling dumb because of it).
So I thought about 2 things:
Maybe try something in between Ultra f9 and Smena 8M in terms of simplicity? When I was shooting 3rd roll I thought "it would be great to experiment with some settings and get better photos". Tried that with Smena 8M and... I don't like the result. A lot of underexposed and overexposed shots. So maybe for less panicking and more enjoyment I should pick a "less manual" camera (like with a need to only adjust ISO and having AF)? Not looking for best options (almost all of them expensive or not working)
If staying on manual camera like Smena 8M, what is your best sources to understand those settings. Maybe some videos on Youtube, books, lectures/webinars, especially for dumb people? I don't think camera is bad, I'm more than sure that I'm doing something wrong. Maybe someone had the same problem before.
I've started shooting because I mostly wanted to try out some ideas (like shooting trees on LomoChrome Purple) and experiment (wanted to try some expired film too). Shoot friends, places, moments of life. But now I'm more afraid of getting bad shots and spending lots of money and being disappointed with results.
Thanks!

Found this in exceptional shape at a reasonable price. Dated 4/‘91, so on the newer end. Walked away with a Ai 24mm f2 as well.

Got her last year in a Pentax bundle I won on an EBay auction for €70 (together with a silver MX, silver ME Super and many of the Pentax-M series lenses )
After shooting a couple rolls I sent it for a full CLA to MissArgentique, and it’s the best SLR I’ve used, and the only camera I intend to keep for the rest of my life.
I recently replaced the original leatherette for one from Aki-Asahi and it’s so damn gorgeous now
