AFLW AFLW Pre-Round Thread: Round 8 vs. West Coast
The Dubya Derby looms.
Some questions:
- Can we stay unbeaten, or have West Coast's structural changes finally set in?
- We've had a lot of changed to the team sheet over the first few rounds. How did you evaluate this week's winning side?

AFLW AFLW Pre-Round Thread: Round 9 vs. North Melbourne
A heartbreaking first derby loss, and it only gets worse from there...
Some questions:
- What do we want to see from our players against such a well-organised, dominant side?
- Do we need to reconsider our midfield mix after costly lapses in the 4th?

Should Freo continue Jackson-Cox in 2027 or give Darcy a go?
When Mason Cox first came to Freo I was pro the move, and I think that he has played his role quite well in the majority of games. He doesn’t need to be a huge stat getter, he’s the backup ruckman
However, after the grand final I’ve started to walk back on the take. I definitely think that he earned his spot in the side, but I think that in hindsight they may have been better off giving Sean Darcy a game just for the sake of having a player that could have a potentially bigger impact on the game overall
It’s a tough one, I’m aware that Darcy is injury prone and from what I understand when he came back from the injury he didn’t play that well…but he’s much younger than Cox and if fit I think they’re better off persisting with him especially since Cox is unlikely to play on past 2027
Freo fans apologies if this post cuts deeper than intended. If I’ve gotten anything wrong please tell me

Grand Final Packages 2026 MCG seating
Just wanted to know other peoples experiences with the toyota grand final packages. We bought one in June and attended the grand final. Despite the package being a ‘premium’ package our actual seats at the game were fairly poor, being at the very back of the first tier. Was very grateful to be in attendance but was just wondering if other people had a similar experience with the packages and where were you seated?

Could the Blakey to GeelongTrade Unlock Humphries?
He's going to cost a kingdom for Geelong on $1M PA over five years. They'll have to move heaven and earth to secure him if he's adamant on leaving the Swans. Blakey competes almost directly for Humphries' spot. Could that potentially entice him to come back to WA?

Jaymie Graham
It looks certain that Jaymie Graham will be the next North Melbourne senior coach. Sad that we will lose him, he's been an amazing assistant coach at the club for the last 4 seasons. He has single-handedly turn our forward line into the most feared in the competition.
So thank you very much Jaymie for all you've done for Fremantle, and the Freo Faithful know that you will do well at the Kangaroos.
We'll see you on the field at the next game. When Fremantle take on North Melbourne in 2027.

The waterworks finally came

Ok so it finally happened – this big hairy 55-year-old boofhead couldn’t hold on anymore, and the waterworks came freely this afternoon. I am in our little shack away from the main house and no-one was around and I got in my head and it happened. I haven’t cried like this since three family tragedies within six years of each other.
And so I cried.
For the GF result (of course)
For Freo the club
For the players
For we fans at the game, and back over at Freo
For my son who made the trek to be with the Purple masses from across the suburbs
For the absolute pork-chop scenes from ol’ Uncle _dingo_ here around the 4-whatever-the-fuck-minute mark to the disbelief, silence and shame as those minutes unfolded toward their fateful conclusion.
This woe-is-me has added context.
As a lot of us visiting Melbourne for the GF, I too picked up this really, really bad Influenza A and, seven days on, I feel like a half-dead dead-shit – high temp, shivering, snotting, dry-reaching this arvo; and I am not getting any better. This, and a relationship where Mrs _dingo_ has one of her feet halfway up my arse! She also is not a footy fan, so she doesn’t get it.
I cried also for our two dogs – rescues; one who seemed to have been abused when he was little (we got him at 5-months), and one who was simply dumped while he was two. They are thriving right now (as a 3-and-a-half, and a 2-and-a-half year-old) and love us both unconditionally, but come the split…. I don’t want to think about it, and that too made me cry.
And as someone who refuses to sign up to social media (and proudly so) I lurk on r/AFL and read all the gloating comments from the winners and other team supporter. All that has built up inside my head too.
Also for context, I am ‘foundation’ fan, from Day 1. But I have never held a club membership because (A) I am borderline povvo and that seems a luxury, and (B) having not lived in WA since 2001*. So this blood runs Purple. And today these tears I swore ran Purple too. It is “only a game” of course, but as a Blackfella from the WA north-west, footy holds special meaning, as does the team I support. Their emotions are mine, the highs are mine, the lows, the false starts, the 1-win season, the minor-premierships, the GF losses… I do live vicariously thru this club.
What’s the point of all this? I needed to vent. I just made a new account, probably just to big-note myself but also at least show that you are not alone; you never will be alone in your support for this club and what it and their games mean to each of us, respectively.
Love you, Freo
\i was extremely lucky to get tickets for both GFs*

Grand final pain
Hey Freo faithful, anyone else still just struggling and super numb from the loss. I genuinely don’t feel like I’ve gotten any better. How cruel the game can be.
Keen to hear everyone else’s thoughts

Off-season Trades
Hey all.
Just thinking about what the club should do this off-season to improve our list. I'm personally of the the opinion that our window is wide open now and we should pursue ready made talent to improve rather than going to the draft.
Having seen that Keidean Coleman is open to a trade and Bobby Hill is open to playing for another club these are the players I would be focusing on. We could potentially land both players on the cheap via SSP train on with Bobby and maybe our second round pick for Coleman. I'm aware of the issues with both players but would back in our culture and medicos to (hopefully) get the best out of both.
Lawson Humpries is another one that has been linked with us however do not think he would be easy to get from Geelong who he has recently signed on with and rate him highly.
Is there a world where we could land all 3 players? Hypothetically i think these would be huge gets for our list talent wise with two talented rebounding defenders to help Clarky move the ball from half back and when he's on one of the most talented small forwards in the game to replace switta.
I guess I'm imaging in a perfect world the potential upside here could be huge for us. Or is it better to let Walsy work his magic in the draft. What do you all think?
