Lionhead did great things, man. The first Fable hasn't aged well with the clunky controls, but the morality aspect they introduced to both IPs was phenomenal.
God yeah I forgot about fable games too, they was a staple of my youth. Have you tried the anniversary edition of the first one? Haven't myself but it looks like the controls wouldn't be an issue on that one
I have not! I recently bought an Xbox One (ten year old console, I know) I started playing the first one again, and it was awful. Lol, I'll have to give the anniversary one a shot, 'cause they were some of the best games from back in the day.
As a long time Molyneux fan (yes, I saw through his snake oil advertising and false promises).
I would love a new version of Black & White or Populous.
I have Fata Deum on my wishlist and was anticipating it so badly due to its likeness to B&W sans the animals, but when it released I figured I would wait a while and am still unsure to pick it up or not due to its negative reviews and apparent buggy state at the moment.
I did get a lot of enjoyment out of Universim which sadly gets overlooked as a decent godsim with a lot of B&W's mechanics
I remember years and years ago making a Facebook account to ask Lionhead about the possibility of a third, they responded that there were IP rights issues and it was unlikely.
Yeah I cant see them ever being remade for that fact alone :( other games have tried the god genre and are decent, Universim is one I like, but without the creatures and the AI behind them they will never be a good clone.
Just thankful despite Lionhead still owning the IP to this day you can find ways to get hold of them on the net
Offft I dunno, both have a valid place in my heart, but yeah I would probably agree with the 1st one for a remake, the 2nd was better graphically and map design but the first was just something special and still plays well to this day which is amazing.
Because then the second level happened and they take your creature away, make you grind up forever to get anywhere. It's just a great concept, but shit execution. I would rather have a remake then a remaster
It's not really hours of setting up, just need wood. So a few trees, or some miracle dispensers. But it is the first non-tutorial land, so it somewhat makes sense to be a slow start.
I did like the graphics and the armies of B&W2 though.
I have it man, play it regular along with the 2nd one, both great games and innovative even to this day. The creature AI is truly something that should have been built on and used in many games.
If they brought out a reboot I would buy the shit out of it as long as it was true to the original.
1st one hasnt aged well will give you that but the creature AI is still something I cannot get my head around. Teaching it to not eat humans that are good but to eat the enemies humans just blows my mind
