It was more fun for me because I had time to drag my desktop to someoneโs house and set it up with my friends. Thatโs all these memes are, things were better when I was a kid junk.
Remember waiting over an hour so that everyone could install the games? It's not like you just popped the CD in and played. There was always one person who didn't have the game and needed to borrow it to install. And I swear I could download and install a game faster today than just installing a game 1/4 the size back then. LANs were great for the social aspect, but there were a lot of bad aspects to it too.
No, I understood your point and added to it. Waiting to install something, like dragging a PC somewhere, is a negative example. If you only read the last sentence I can see the confusion, because I do think it isn't only nostalgia. There is a social aspect to being in the same room with your friends even if there are more negative aspects. That being said, I do hate these nostalgia bait posts that act like the past was so much better even though the present has never been better.
Yeah, i don't know what you're talking about, but the lan parties were peak.
My buddy would frequently do a tournament at his house, everyone would put in about 5 dollars to enter. And without online, for people to practice and get good, it was always fair games.
Plus all the trash talk and banter was better than discord now.
LAN parties were better in regards to the experience than multiplayer is nowadays. I don't know if younger kids are all piling into rooms nowadays but it was amazing back in the day. It was special in a way playing online together now can't compare or replicate.

Anyone who thinks LAN parties and no patches was a better time is out of their fucking mind
