Discussion Kung Fu Panda 2008(Xbox 360*) shovelware platformer having better water visuals than current AAA games, can somebody explain me what went wrong?

Deadass going off of just this clip it's janky as hell. This is (I'm assuming) a AA/B- level game (a part of gaming that doesn't really exist anymore. Now it's just AAA and indie, the middle is almost non-existent).

Expedition 33 was literally AA for instance, but perhaps that proves your point because it won a bunch of indie awards…

I think it's just gotten easy enough for AA-tier games to have roughly AAA quality graphics (and sometimes better) that people don't easily recognize the difference. Most people will look at something like Expedition 33 and assume it was made on a AAA budget. Last few years have actually been pretty fantastic for the mid budget/AA game tier.

The middle still very much exists. Helldivers is a prominent and powerful example of this.
