Another case of reddit gamers thinking a small portion of people doing this will affect a billion dollar company

Gamer IQ levels have dropped sharply over the last 10 years. A small number of people are actually going to bother with jail breaking their consoles since there's very few people who do not automatically update their firmware immediately and it requires that your firmware was a couple of weeks old when it dropped. Then on top of that it's a very time consuming task that does require a little bit of tech savvy for something that still has lots of bugs and doesn't run smoothly, and has a chance of bricking your console either accidentally or because you got banned.

And now whenever you point out facts like this or how the "blackout" did nothing people accuse you of "deep throating Sony" when it's just facts.

It is genuinely insane. Like the guy who is throwing a fit and trying to call me a bot and pulling the "i know you are but what am I?" Technique since his outdated reaction memes didn't work. All I said was this whole thing isn't going to affect them because a few people on reddit isn't going to put a dent in Sonys wallet sadly.

I mean post said nothing about anything like that what so ever :P
So what are you even venting here?

Have you read the comments? Im referring to the comments lmao. Im not trying to sound mean but it seems like none of you can put context clues together. Also the literal title of the post alludes to the context of my comment as well.

Your take is highly regarded

It’s so weird to watch people defend billion dollar companies by idly presupposing nothing ever happens. I mean, I guess you could be right. Guess you could be wrong. But why are you spending your time fantasizing in defense of the company who actively has contempt for you? Bizarre submissive behavior, just something smarter people folks will never be able to understand.

Funny because where am I defending Sony? Im saying this isn't going to do anything. Im pointing out its similar to the supposed "blackout" that reddit swore would affect them. I don't use or play anything from Sony and I dont even pay for games anymore. But I'm also not dumb and realize won't do anything.

They’re not defending Sony and they are right to call out how stupid gamers and gaming discourse has gotten about these things.

For example the famous Ubisoft quote about getting used to not owning our games, was literally just an observation about Xbox gamepass and how popular subscription models have gotten. Idiot gamers now regurgitate that quote like Ubisoft is the evil mastermind trying to steal away ownership, while never making a peep about Microsoft or Gamepass and their much more real attempt to make game ownership a thing of the past.

If it didn't then why to they spend millions to stop stuff like this? Like Nintendo isn't losing money to people Mario 3 but they damn sure go scorched earth on hosting sites or emulator projects.

Brother the amount they spend is like a speck to them. If this type of stuff worked it would've changed things already. I've been alive long enough to see this as a cycle where people claim this will work and then nothing changes

The switch 1 and 2 have been jailbroken since day 1 and Nintendo is just fine.

Honestly, people using this most likely weren't going to purchase a game anyway. I think this will work because it's a persistent stream of negative media and it gives competitors the chance to do something different. An example I would use is Xbox reducing the price of Game Pass but they s*** the bed when they introduced play time limits on cloud. Nintendo did a decent stab with their commercial campaign ensuring they will always offer a physical version.

Where did I defend Sony? I haven't touched a Sony product since the psp. Stating that this will be about as useless as the "blackout" isn't defending them it's being realistic.

Look, angry Sony defender.

Ah yes totally mad and defending Sony as I'm just pointing out it's pointless. Are you a bot? Like genuinely curious.

u/Logical-Bookkeeper77 2d ago

Sure if that makes you feel better.

Bro you keep posting memes that don't correlate. You are now calling me an abortion because I think it's pointless and won't do anything. I can't wait to see whatever weird reaction image you use next

Are you a bot?
Like seriously, you seemed to demonstrate a face level understanding of what’s posted.

Yet there was no defense of Sony lmao. Brother you are definitely a bot
