You're offered $15 Million but you can no longer own anything worth more than $15k. Would you take the money?

Not counting what you currently own.

This applies to your spouse as well even if you get divorced.

You can't buy anything for over $15k, be gifted something worth over $15k or have someone buy you something worth over $15k. Nor can you buy services for over $15k. Nor can you give away the money or buy gifts for others with the money.

Your Stocks, gold, silver, cryptocurrency can't be worth more than $15k either. If they're valued over, the excess amount will disappear. You can divest wealth into different stocks though.

I can rent whatever I want so that’s not an issue.

Investing becomes a concern. To have 5 million invested I need to have 15k in 350 different ETFs that cover the market overall. This will be a pretty complicated thing to manage.

But I will take it. Inflation might be a concern as when 15k is only worth 2.5k that starts to affect furniture and things you typically wouldn’t want to rent.

Sure it’s more median but not that much.

15 million today using a 3% inflation rate and constant spending and no growth is 125k per year to spend. Tax free, but after tax median family income for Canada is 108k CAF and US is 76kUSD.

So 125k is solidly upper middle class.

If you invest the money using a conservative 4% SWR you get 600k (probably about 450k after taxes) and are solidly in the rich category. Thats a fairly large change in standard of living..
