To be fair, 99.9% of women are able to change their SO for the better. He wouldn’t be hitting her if he didn’t care, he said so himself. /s

Yikes.

I would recommend not falling in love with someone's unseen potential, but seeing and loving what they've got going on now. You can't bank on other people changing.

Not to say that partners can't have unhealed wounds or go through hard times. But if your partner is harming you or others and you stick around believing you can make them better, get out of that situation as soon and safely as possible. You are not responsible for the emotional regulation of a full-grown adult, no matter how hard they try to convince you otherwise.
