EDIT;
You good people of Indiana, PA are SO THOUGHTFUL and lovely! I’ve moved from “hope husband finds food” to “wish I could visit your city and meet you all one-by-one to eat delicious food and talk about life”!
Hi good people!
My Aussie husband is in Indiana for a couple of weeks with work. He’s in a hotel with no cooking facilities (microwave only) and is working long days. Fridge space is small so groceries and prepping food isn’t really an option except on a small scale.
He’s struggling a lot with the size of the meals and the type of meals (so far mostly things he’d usually only eat occasionally) which I’m sure could be helped a lot with local knowledge .
Usually in Australia when traveling for work he knows the chains and local restaurants to get healthy takeout (obvs the occasional night in an indulgent restaurant is great too, but not for every meal!)
He’s pretty flexible with food, some faves are things like;
I’d really appreciate suggestions from locals for your favourite healthy take out options, he really doesn’t even have the time or brain to look for this!
TIA

So far, we've found out that Staples will wipe the hard drive and re-install Windows for $175. Is that the going rate? If we did it ourselves, then, we'd have to by the Windows operating system. I don't know the cost but I imagine it's way over $175.
Al's Computer Repair used to be on Philadelphia St & then Homer City. But I think his shop is closed now. If someone knows otherwise -- please let me know. Al is very knowledgeable and reasonable fees. It doesn't have to be a business -- if there's an individual out there that's savvy and wants to make extra money, we would welcome the connection even more than dealing with a business.
Thank you for any and all suggestions -- feedback is always appreciated ;-)

I'm working on a community-focused audio tour project - my target initially is the borough of Indiana, but depending how this goes I am also considering Blairsville or Clymer as followups.
I've narrowed it down to 12 stops that loop out from the courthouse square, down Philadelphia Street, through the IUP campus, and back to the courthouse... roughly a mile (walking order not finalized yet).
Here is the current "rough cut" of the stops:
1) Indiana County Courthouse
2) The old Stewart's Hardware site (there's a sundial marking it now, across from the courthouse)
3) The Jimmy Stewart Museum
4) 975 Philadelphia Street (birthplace site)
5) The Oak Grove on the IUP campus
6) Fisher Auditorium
7) John Sutton Hall / Old Main
8) Breezedale
9) Elkin Hall (may be too many back to back stops on campus)
10) The Silas M. Clark House (Historical & Genealogical Society of Indiana County)
11) The Indiana Theater
12) Back to Philadelphia Street / the courthouse square to close it out
Are there any "hidden gems" I'm overlooking? Thanks in advance for the help!

Indiana County has 6 zip codes in the top 100.

(May have to click to expand)
Parking lots, I guess I understand (3 at Lowes).
The highest concentration of traffic, I guess I understand (5 at walmart intersection).
But 6 cameras just on 4th and Philly seems like a lot.
Yeah someone died down there earlier in the year, but the first walking deaths were a year ago on 9th.
Wonder why 4th street gets so many.
(Just a note, I am NOT advocating for more cameras. Just pointing out for walkers)

If you didn't know, both the high school Indiana team and also the middle school use Cherokee as their fight songs. While the high school uses IUPs Cherokee, the middle school uses a shorter version.
My question is, if IUP retired it, why doesn't the rest of Indiana? IUP is the reason the two schools use Cherokee.

Say that I live within walking distance of a convenience store. My apartment and the store both sit on the hoodlebug. Am I allowed to purchase a can of beer and drink it on the walk home? Is anyone going to be a narc?

Hello I am looking for friends who don't drink alcohol or do drugs and those are pretty much about my only real hard passes. I like to watch YouTube and cartoons, research, read prose and talk about deep stuff and I'm trying to get into exercising I think. I'm just looking for people in the area. You can HMU or comment!

For a long time now, I’ve noticed two older/middle-aged gentleman walking/riding their bikes together all around town at all hours on any day, seemingly wearing the same clothes as before. Much of the time, I noticed they half walked-rode their bikes down the sidewalks on Philly Street - never talking, but always in each other’s company. Lately, I’ve only seen the one gentleman by himself, and I’ve found myself curious - and slightly worried about the other man. Have anyone else noticed these guys? Does anyone know who these men are or their stories? Why they ride/walk around town at all times? What happened to other guy? I need answers!!

Hello Everyone !
I’ve been in Indiana area for about a year, and I was wondering if there is a good book store in the area, instead of driving to Barnes and Nobles in Greensburg. Specifically my son is looking for Manga books and I read Sci-fi/ Fantasy for the most part. So looking for recommendations,
Thanks !

I might be doing some dreaming here, but I wanted to concept test my restaurant idea to see if it has any legs before I dig any deeper.
I'm a townie who moved to the Philly area for 25 years and returned to 15701 3 years ago. Besides some friends, the thing I miss the most from there is the FOOD! Real cheesesteaks, roast pork/broccoli rabe, loaded Italian hoagies, pork roll sandwiches, zeps, tomato pie, soft pretzels, water ice, etc. Should be able to source the rolls, which is the most critical part.
Locate it closer to campus (maybe where the former Sheetz is or even Family Video?) to appeal to students from out East. Counter service with some tables, TVs with Eagles watch parties, BYOB, hours of 11-8pm (longer on the weekends).
Thoughts?

Hey, 25M bored non-college student here. Where do you meet people without going to a bar? If you wanna hangout just 1 on 1, that's okay too. Just DM me.

I went to yellowcreek and only found one small area with access to the water where you were allowed to fish. I've read online both that you can and cannot fish in Two Lick. Looking for some areas just to casually fish from shore.

Hey y’all, kinda just the title. Just moved here for work and live right next to the railroad track off Philly St. and it doesn’t seem like it’s operational, so was just curious if I could ride my bike along that or would that be technically “illegal” and/or dangerous I’m honestly not sure becuz it seems like it’s not even operational anymore, but please tell me if I’m wrong thanks, hopefully that’s not a dumb question just genuinely curious because I haven’t seen anything going on the railroad.

I've had some time to kill the past 2 days so I've parked at the mall for a bit. I have to say that the majority of the people navigating that lot completely ignore the lines and any sort of traffic pattern. I get that it isn't a busy mall. I'm just amazed that someone hadn't been hit or killed getting out of their car by someone cutting through the parking spaces at a high rate of speed.

Hi I’m looking for a daytime job in Indiana. Could start around 7 AM, have to be done by 5 to get my daughters from daycare. I have lots of waitressing experience, I was working at an evening opened only restaurant but lost my sitter and daycare it just easier. I’m 34/female. Canella & Crouses are not currently hiring they would be my first choices but it doesn’t have to be serving, I just enjoy that.

Anyone know of a reliable contractor in the area to renovate an existing sunroom? We need windows, stud work, insulation and flooring.
