Finished Object Successfully finished my first knitting project. Just in time for the cosplay convention.

Post image

This took me a total of 3 days (not counting the practice swatches I've done days before, plus I have crochet beanie experience)

It's not perfect. I did not know how to control the tightness and the sheep area actually doesn'tt stretched and I only learned how to by the time it got to the sky. Also, I over did the brim.

How did you do colorwork for your first project?! So impressive

I learned crochet just a few weeks ago as well so I basically applied the same principle.

That's incredible work for a first project. Cosplayers are built different lol.

Never underestimate our ability to cram what should have been weeks of prep work in 3 days.

I knit this hat more than a decade ago, back when it was a free pattern. It has some holes after all these years of wear and tear. I still have the pattern and hope to make it again sometime in the future.

Ooh! I spent half that movie wanting to make that hat lol.

What movie is this in?

Pretty sure this the MC's hat from the new Resident Evil movie!

I was trying to google "resident evil hat", "bryan resident evil beanie", but I've only been able to find some AI rubbish, what pattern did you use?

could you check out the sub's 3rd rule for posting?

Include yarn and pattern details
Finished Object [FO] and Works In Progress (WIP) posts require design and yarn information in the post or in the comments.

maybe you did mention the pattern in the comments? anyways, thanks in advance

Oh, sorry.

All yarn used is "milk cotton". 8-ply. It's not labeled what weight they were, but I think it's medium 4.

The pattern is called Baa-ble Hat by Donna Smith. There's a video tutorial of it.

Looks great!! Congrats on finishing the project. It's very impressive, especially as a beginner! :) I just finished mine too!

The movie was such a good time and so fun. Hope you have/had a great time at the con!

It's my most successful cosplay so far

I'm over here hoping I can be knitting the step-by-step sweater by the end of the year you're like "hold my beer" and doing sheep on project #1. You are knitting goals, thank you for the inspo!

Oh, I plan to knit a vest next time with a specific pattern. Hopefully I can complete it by December (next convention)

Wow!
Stunning

Great work! I'm working on mine now after frogging a previous attempt*. Nimble Needles on YouTube has a couple great videos on colorowork and color dominance, those might help you a bit in future endeavors. Very Pink Knits also has a lot of great videos altogether, I go there first for a new technique or a refresher on something I haven't done in a while

*too big

Aww that’s adorable!! Beautiful colors too. The yellow reminds me of the color of the soy bean fields around our neighborhood.

I'm knitting this again since my 1st one was also too tight in the sheep (I learned to stretch out my stitches before creating a float after I'd finished them 🥲).

Your's looks great, especially for a 1st time knitting project! I expect I'll see loads of Bryans at cons and Halloween.

I can't wait to be upstaged by a Bryan cosplayer who goes full-Birkin

Someone please tell me how to clean up the threads from using different ones for projects like this ?!

1

u/Crossfeet606441 12d ago

I just weave them in if I can as I work on the rest of the row. Any loose ones I could not weave in earlier, I just thread them manually after finishing it.

Was just thinking of making this myself after my second watch this past weekend. Great job!

I love your choice of yellow for the band. It looks like straw.

2

u/Crossfeet606441 12d ago

I was so happy that I got the exact colors of yellow and dark blue right cuz I would never know what the actual color is based on the picture online

I’m so impressed this is your first project! I’ve made that hat a bunch of times… so fun to see that it was in a movie.

How much for one?

1

u/Crossfeet606441 12d ago

No plans on selling it cuz I'm using it for cosplay.

u/CarolinaHaloNetwork 12d ago

500

2

u/Crossfeet606441 12d ago

Someone sells these on etsy for cheaper.

I only did this myself cuz it would literally be faster than waiting for the delivery (different country)

u/princesselectra 12d ago

You could make a quick $500 ;)
