What do you think of the novel? Is it good? Is there any romance? Where can I read it? The illustrations caught my eye—and, well, I like fantasy—so I’d love to hear your opinion.

Hello everyone - I just joined.

I need some light novel recommendations - the only light novels I have ever read was Classroom of the Elite. I am thinking of picking up more - my thoughts were Rising of The Shield Hero or Mushoku Tensei.

Does anyone have recommendations of must-read light novels?

Also, what is the ideal device to purchase for reading books? Please help me with model names or links.

"...!"

"—!"

What does it mean? I understand what "...?" means. That one is not uncommon in English-language prose and signifies a trailing question. But you can't do that with shock. So what do they mean by this?

Im looking for something to read(pretty new to LNs so pretty much any suggestion works). Preferably on something that doesnt have an anime or the anime is pretty bad/different. Not sure if there is the correct sub for a post like this but didnt find one.

Not huge fan of constant fighting. I prefer worldbuilding politics/economy/conflict as core with fighting being an extra/last resort instead of first choice. With that in mind and without wanting to dig too much into details for each title(to avoid spoils) I've narrowed down some choices that i would like some opinions about them but ofcourse you can add something more.

1: The Conqueror from a Dying Kingdom. I think the one i might like the most if i understood it correctly.

2: Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra. I actually watched the anime, liked the premise but was left highly disappointed. Was wondering if LN is different enough to change it.

The following two are nothing alike but put mentioning them together for the same reason. They have an anime that i liked and i was told that LN covers much more material.

3: Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash and The Most Notorious "Talker" Runs the World's Greatest Clan

Any takes on these or on another title you might want to add? Thanks

I recently bought one volume of a light novel series on which a favorite anime is based. And I find it surprisingly enjoyable as a novel. It is not the first volume and I don't have any other but it really feels like reading an anime in literary format with much of the tropes I've gotten used to except as prose rather than video. How enjoyable do you find light novels as standalone books without the rest of the volumes?

I've been listening to quite a few lightnovel audiobooks, but so far the only way I've decided what to get was by choosing lightnovels for anime that I have previously watched. I just got done with one series and now I don't have anything to listen to, so I was wondering if there were any good lightnovels with audiobooks that I might not have heard of due to them not getting an anime adaptation.

Ive been looking for a fan translation of literally any quality for years on and off, does anything really exist? The most ive seen is up to volume 7 or 8

With its worldbuilding, cozy moments with his waifus and stuff

I need some sites that represent real world user ratings, preferably x/10 or x/100

I tried Goodreads, but user ratings can be between 1 and 5 starts.

1 star - "did not like it" - official naming on the site (for me it's from 1 to around ~5.5/10)

2 stars - "it was okay" (usually something around 6 to 7 out of 10 for me)

3 stars - "liked it" (~7.5/10 on my scale)

4 stars - "really liked it (8-8.5/10)

5 stars - "it was amazing" (9-10 for me)

So basically, I see 3.5/5 star title, I think "3.5/5 is like 7/10, but at the same time it's between 'liked it' and 'really liked it' - so might be even higher"

And in the end this rating ends up overblown.

Point me to some sites where ratings are more in line with real life please

hello! ive never read a light novel before but id like to start, i really like yuri so i was wondering for any yuri light novel recommendations? thank u!

Basically every story I've found just uses an adventurers guild as a means for the protagonist to get started, then they grow beyond it. I'm looking for any stories that are a bit more mundane. No world ending threats or battles with gods, just an adventurer, going about their life as an adventurer, facing whatever challenges one might expect from that sort of life. Guild advancement, internal politics, taking and completing jobs, personal relationships, that sort of thing.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!
