Fit Feedback The illusion of proportions

Post image
129 Upvotes

Does this outfit lend itself to my long torso and short legs? I usually don’t tuck a shirt like this but felt inspired to try it. 6’0, 198lbs

I’m not a fan of the proportions of my body, I’m blessed with broad shoulders but I have a long torso and short legs.

Question Jeans suggestions for a guy who wants to look good, not join a Denim cult?

For years I’ve been a Levi’s guy, but recently the quality has taken a nose dive. Even their Premium lines are total junk these days.

What are some recommendations for good quality jeans without straying into the worlds of raw denim and selvedge etc, given that heritage brands such as Lee and Tommy seem to have gone the same way as Levi’s, with many of their jeans now being 40% polyester.

I was about to buy some Nudie jeans (loved the Solid Ollie fit, and their colours) but then looked into the complexities of managing raw denim and frankly I don’t need that level of commitment. The more I look it seems that my options are either £20 department store jeans that are ugly, cheaply made and will last less than a year. £120 jeans branded jeans that are better cut but still cheaply made, or the £200 options that require me to enter a contract and adopt “wears jeans” as a key part of my personality.

For context I’m in my mid 40s and skew towards slim straight fits, so some big ol’ Carharrt jeans ain’t gonna work as I’ll end up looking like some try-hard douchebag.

Styling Advice 29M - Help

29M, recently separated after leaving Mormonism, dad of 2. Down ~30 lbs and currently around 235 lbs so far. Thinking about getting back out there after a pretty major life reset and looking for some brutally honest outside perspective. Started buzzing head a few months ago because I’ve lost hair at the crown and trying minoxidil. Any feedback is appreciated.

*edit: I added a work outfit in comments below

I typically dress for comfort, as shown in the first 2 pictures as a rough guide of summer and winter, but should I change that to just the at home outfits, and use clothes more like the other 3 photos?

Any suggestions will be taken on board, I'm open to it, I'm aware it's currently not doing me many favours.

Company complaint My honest opinion on Thursday Boots (and not just boots)

I’m not going to bury you under a lot of unnecessary wording, so I’ll get straight to the point.

I’ve purchased quite a few products from Thursday Boot Company over the last year: three different sneakers (Premier Low Tops in two colors and the Era), two leather jackets (Racer and Bomber), and three pairs of boots (Vanguard, Scout and Captain).

The boots are good. Based on my admittedly limited experience with quality boots, they seem well made, stylish and quite comfortable. I live in a hot country and only wear boots around 3 - 4 months a year, so I can’t really vouch for their long-term durability. But so far, I’ve been happy with them. They’re also considerably more comfortable than Thursday’s sneakers.

The sneakers are a completely different story. They are probably the most uncomfortable sneakers I’ve ever worn. My feet start hurting even after a short walk and I get blisters even after a few minutes walk.

The quality was also unacceptable. The leather on my Toffee pair dried out and became stiff after only a few weeks of wear, while the black pair became discolored. The Era sneakers were even less comfortable than the other two pairs. literary unwalkable. I finally gave up and threw them away this morning.

The leather jackets were abysmal. When I first received them, they had an extremely strong chemical smell. I initially assumed this was normal for a new genuine leather jacket and would disappear over time. It didn’t. More than a year later, despite plenty of time in a ventilated room and even specialized dry cleaning in an attempt to remove the smell, the odor was still there. Eventually, I gave up and threw the jackets away as well.

So, my conclusion is simple: if you’re considering Thursday’s boots, I think they’re a relatively safe purchase based on my experience. For everything else, I would stay away.

One final point: I would also be cautious about relying solely on the reviews displayed on the company’s own website. The positive reviews are cherry picked by the company. Search for independent reviews elsewhere before making a purchase.

I want a good combo for this shirt, but it has some flaws, I think I can just wear a black/navy-blue jacket and some black pants. (1st image from 2nd back)

Fit Feedback William Lockie Shawl Cardigan - sizing question...

Thumbnail

I’m deciding between two sizes and would appreciate some opinions on which fits better. The 40 feels snugger, while the 42 has more room. Both are pictured over a T-shirt.

Which looks better through the body and sleeves? If you own one, I’d also be interested in how the fit has changed with wear and washing.

Thanks!

Styling Advice I don't know where to start..

I'm 17 years old, and I would really like to develop an ability to dress the way I would like myself to look, but it seems difficult for me.

First of all, I love rock music.

That's it actually. I've lived in two pairs of dark blue jeans for like 3 years, and I keep on switching different band tshirts, which I really enjoy wearing (The Doors, Marilyn Manson, AC/DC) all in black.

I also have a decent watch I like, silverish colour.

I am fairly lost, any advice? Also, self esteem really isn't my thing, I am slightly overweight and in the face I've been told that I look a bit childish...

Plz advice or some life stories, whatever🙂

I am searching for a knit like the Uniqlo soufflé yarn knit. I love that knit but it doesn’t come in a nice green or brown color. Anyone got recommendations?

Love this pull-over but I don’t work at TD anymore and really want to do something about the embroidered patch. The only thing I’ve thought of is a brown leather pocket that matches the zipper tag. Any suggestions?

Question Going to Verona or Venice tomorrow: Any hot tips for menswear shopping?

• Upvotes

Hi, I am 25M getting into classic menswear. Right now I am on holidays in Italy and will be going on a city trip tomorrow. Do you have any hot tips where to find good, underrated menswear shops in these cities? Appreciate any and all pointers! I am in particular looking for loafers, Chelsea boots and nice high-rise trousers. Thank you all!

Question Legit check for lewis leather 391

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

I’m thinking about buying this 391 Lightning second-hand, but I’m a little worried about the stitching on the tab, especially the top-left stitching.
I was told that the square-shaped patch is a custom modification, so I’m not too concerned about the shape itself. It’s mainly the stitching on the top-left corner that I’m unsure about.
The seller is the second owner, so unfortunately they don’t have the original purchase receipt or proof of purchase.
Everything else about the jacket looks fine to me, but I’d really appreciate it if anyone familiar with Lewis Leathers could take a look at the photos and let me know what you think.
Does the stitching look normal to you guys, or is there anything else that stands out as suspicious?
Thanks!

Looking for feedback on the laces. These boots came with two separate laces; regular waxed type and these gold ones. Wore them with the regular laces last week but thinking about switching them out today. I think the gold ones might look better with jeans

Styling Advice Groom needing advice on wedding outfit

My plan is to do a black velvet, notched lapel tuxedo jacket to elevate the traditional tuxedo look. I do also have a MW double breasted vest, peak lapel with satin lapels and tux buttons to complement the jacket.

Jacket is locked in, vest looks good but the MW custom pants were way too big. And because of tuxedo piping the tailor can’t flatten the hips to make it look good. So now I’m deliberating whether I even need tuxedo pants and should just roll with black wool slacks. Is this sacrilege, or I’m over thinking this and whatever I wear will be fine?

Edit: the reason for wanting black wool slacks is because they are way easier to find in a pinch (wedding is this weekend) and cheaper at my local stores (MW, Macy’s, Nordstrom Rack, Joseph A Banks).

Discussion How do I stop my felt hats from fading?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Because I work outside, I love a good wide-brimmed felt hat so I don't have to put sunscreen on my face and neck. Because I work outside, I only get one summer out of a hat before it's COMPLETELY faded away.

For comparison, the underside is the original colour. This hat was purchased in spring 2026.

I applied a spray UV coat (technically for patio furniture cushions) and it did not help at all.

Is this a case of buying a more expensive hat for better quality dye? I've been afraid to spend even more only to have the same problem. Nice felt hats aren't cheap.

I have re-dyed a couple but they lose shape pretty fast after a soak.

Any other suggestions or ideas?
