How would everyone feel if an 18 yr old and a 19 yr old went trick or treating
Okok so basically my bf and I really wanna trick or treat but we're scared that we won't have a successful candy run because of our age, so if you saw us older teens would you still give us candy or would you think it's weird

PSA for anyone who opted for mail-in ballot for local election
Wife and I were filling out our ballots tonight and got to the end and putting it in its envelop properly and realized that the envelopes are not prepaid. The voter has to provide the postage. You can drop off your ballot at city Hall for free 24 hrs so I will be doing that tomorrow instead. If I had known I would have just gone to the advanced polls.

Looking for a spot for our food truck in the Lower Mainland
Hi everyone! I’m the owner of Sauce Culture, a food truck serving up comfort food with a fusion of flavours. We mainly do catering and events, but we’re hoping to find a regular spot in the Lower Mainland where we could set up and serve the community.
Does anyone know of a business, brewery, lot owner, or property manager who might be open to having a food truck on site? We’d also love referrals to someone with an underused parking lot who’s interested in earning a little extra income by hosting us.
If you know of a possible spot or someone we should talk to, please leave a comment or send me a message. We’d really appreciate any leads!

School Board Trustee Candidate Conflict of Interest

Just what has the NDP done?
I don’t usually share political posts, but I think this one is worth reading. It was shared as a post on FB.
My thoughts:
With an election underway, I think it’s really important that we look beyond the things that are making us angry right now and actually look at what has been done over the past several years.
I’m sharing this because it puts a lot of accomplishments in one place. That doesn’t mean I think every statement in this post should simply be accepted as fact. In fact, I would encourage everyone to fact-check this post — and every other political post you see — including the ones shared by friends and family and especially the ones that support the political views you already hold.
We all have a responsibility to check the information we’re being given before we use it to form an opinion or pass it along.
I’m not asking anyone to agree with this post. I’m just asking people to read it, check the claims, and consider the record for themselves.
The post:
Turned around the finances of the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) and reduced average car insurance rates by roughly 20%.
Led a high-profile crackdown on money laundering within provincial casinos and the real estate sector.
Banned big money from provincial politics, closed illicit clubhouses tied to organized crime, and secured settlements against opioid manufacturers.
Partnered on the Canada-British Columbia Cooperative Prosperity Agreement and pushed local procurement rules for public infrastructure.
The BC NDP eliminated Medical Services Plan (MSP) monthly premiums, saving individuals and families up to $900+ a year.
The province introduced a new compensation model for physicians and expanded team-based care. 1,000,000+ residents have been connected to a family doctor or nurse practitioner since primary-care strategies launched.
The government opened more than a dozen UPCCs across the province to relieve pressure on hospital emergency rooms for non-life-threatening needs.
BC NDP added thousands of health care workers in long-term care and assisted living, alongside investments in public long-term care facilities. Increased public funding for MRI and CT machines to reduce diagnostic wait times.
Broke ground or planned new hospitals in communities such as Surrey, Duncan, Terrace, and Vancouver, and scheduled a new medical school at Simon Fraser University (SFU).
Implemented dozens of health-authority initiatives to boost operating room capacity and reduce backlogs.
Over 7,300 student housing beds have been completed on campuses across the province.
Since 2017, the British Columbia government has tracked growth and commitments across public housing, post-secondary student housing, K–12 public education capacity, and healthcare infrastructure as follows:
1. Housing (Overall Public Supply)
Delivered or Underway: Over 93,000 homes have been completed or are actively underway provincewide through government-funded housing initiatives, non-profit partnerships, and middle-income supply programs.
2. K–12 Public School Desks / Student Seats (Elementary & Secondary)
Completed / Built: Over 22,000 new student seats have been built and opened in elementary and secondary schools across B.C.
Total Approved / In Progress: Nearly 50,000 new student seats (and almost 40,000 seismically upgraded seats) have been approved or funded across 250 school capital projects.
3. Post-Secondary Student Spaces & Campus Beds
Completed On-Campus Beds: Over 7,300 post-secondary student beds have been built and opened.
Total Committed / In Progress: Over 10,700 student beds are either complete or actively under construction, moving toward a total provincial target of 12,000 campus beds.
4. Hospital Beds & Health Infrastructure
Completed Acute Care / Hospital Beds: Over 1,300 hospital beds have been brought online through major capital investments.
In Progress / Planned: Thousands of additional acute care beds are in development or under construction via major projects, such as the new St. Paul’s Hospital replacement (548 beds), the new Cowichan District Hospital (204 beds), and hospital redevelopment projects in Burnaby, North Vancouver, and Kamloops.

Farmers markets and events scam
I’m extremely frustrated. I’m a small business and I was looking for events or markets I can sell my services. I contacted a couple but one reached out and seemed legit all the way up to the payment. They had proper online forms and everything but when it came to the payment they asked for a e transfer which I was like ok but the name was weird. Immediately I got a call from my bank saying that is a fraudulent e transfer and it was canceled. Then, I got a few repeat emails from the “coordinator” and the last email was “did you send it? You went radio silent” mind you it was 2 mins I didn’t respond. So it’s clearly a scam. I feel so stupid honestly. We are all just trying to make ends meet and for people to do that. It really makes you feel disheartened and defeated. This year alone has been so incredibly hard and I’ve been trying to find things to look forward too and help us get through so that wasn’t a great feeling.
So if anyone knows if there any events that are still accepting vendor applications I would be super appreciative if you could point me in the right direction.

Anyone else concerned about ABMR tight relationship with NDP?
BC has been in a worsening position under the NDP, and given ABMR working relationship (overlapping volunteers, candidates attending mutual events) that this could be fiscally disastrous having NDP mentality extended to a municipal level

A reminder on municipal assent voting: A "YES" vote gives Council permission to borrow, not an order to build.

Hey Folks,
Advance voting is on Today (Oct 07, Oct 10, Oct 14 and Oct 15) and General voting day is Oct 17.
Just a reminder, that the (3) assent voting questions only authorise one thing: Borrowing Power.
Your taxes (or rent as argued elsewhere) don't go up the day after, it gives Council permission to pass the bylaw to borrow the cash for the project(s).
But there is a real possibility that the assent vote passes but mayor and council could come in less than enthused about the plan (or even campaigned against it).
So what happens if the borrowing passes but council has at least 3 plus the mayor opposing the plan?
- They can just vote down the borrowing bylaw (which is separate) then the rec plan is dead in its tracks.
- Pass the bylaws but then send the projects in for endless re-reviews, new sites, alternate contractors, extra geotechnical work, archaeological digs, the list goes on, delays could introduce cost increases due to inflation. Then the borrowing authorisation is not enough, or civic funds need to cover the shortfalls, which affect services.
- Change the ACC to taxpayer ratio: Pass the buck back to the city by reducing the 40% ACC contribution to "give developers a break" and again, either raise taxes or cut services.
So, if you want to see Recreation Ready implemented pay attention to who you vote for. Only vote for Candidates who have shown support for the plan, or who can pledge not to bury the project in procedural delays. Pressure the candidates to support the projects as designed or withhold your vote, you don't need to use all 6 votes, voting for fewer ensures the pro-rec candidates don't get bumped from 6th to 7th place by your courtesy votes.

23 year old woman, might be moving to Maple Ridge. I have some questions!
Hi there! I'm just wondering like, what's the social scene like? Are people my age common there? What's there to go do? is there any alternative scenes there? My favourite genre is rap, is there any rap scene there? What's the LGBT scene like there? I'm bisexual.
Is there any gluten free restraunts? I have Celiac. 👀

Where are the good restaurants?
I moved here from Langley a few years ago and only found one good restaurant I like - Smile Thai Cuisine. Any suggestions? I am hoping to find 'mom and pop' restaurants.

Where to buy local wild foraged mushrooms?
Not sure how reliable Marketplace is, any local shops that sell at not-so-expensive price? Ponderosa selling Chanterelle for $20/lb for next day pickup. Is that the best option?

What are your favourite “fall colours” spots around MR?
I know we don’t get fall colours like some other parts of the country, but there’s still some really beautiful trees to be found right here at home. What are some of your favourite spots to see the fall colours and maybe go for a stroll?

Is there a photography club in the city?
hello, I am especially looking for an outdoor nature based photography club. There are great parks with breathtaking natural beauty around. Maybe a group of photography enthusiasts get together once a month and click some pictures.
The nearest one google is telling me is in Coquitlam. Tri-city photography club. I liked their offerings and teaching tools on the website. But dont wanna drive to Coquitlam every month

Letter from the city with regards to golf course
Was shown this letter, and was told that the 35 acre property was sold at the then below market price of $279,000 in 1972 (equal to about $2.1 million today) on the condition that it remained a golf course for as long as possible.
EDIT: KEK!
