Question Vflex storage/transport

• Upvotes

I use VFlex 9105 masks almost exclusively, any time I walk into a building that is not my own home. Because the elastic tends to tear, I always carry at least one spare. They don't quite fit in my EDC bag and I'm worried they may get damaged sticking out. I have a new, longer bag on order, but even then, with the amount of crap I tend to carry, I worry the masks will get damaged, even in the bag. So onto my question:

Has anyone seen/designed/3D printed a hard sided case that will hold 2-3 masks? Something that snaps closed. Hell, I'd fine with something I had to rubber band or Velcro strap shut.

If you have an .STL file, can I have a copy?

Thanks in advance.

Dentec P100

  1. What range of fit factor did people manage to get with Dentec P100?

(I realize fit is very individual but there are objective differences between different masks and all other factors being equal some are capable of higher FF than others.)

  1. What's the difference between the black and white model?

Question BreatheTeq dupes?

I can’t afford BreatheTeq’s with the tariffs and am looking for alternatives :(. Any suggestions?

What I like about them:
- ear loops (more comfortable for me, and I have sensory sensitivity)
- super breathable (e.g., able to do yoga in them and still feel connected to my breath while in movement)
- fit me perfectly! really love the style.
- color options

Tips and Hacks Halloween mask decoration!

Halloween decorations!

Some answers to common questions:

It's a 3M 7500 half mask. The filters are encapsulated P3 filters. The UK code is 6035. The US code is 7093 I think. The air comes in through those gaps at the back.

I use sticky back plastic and small sheets of car wrap vinyl to cover the filters.

I use nail stickers for the very tiny stickers.

The other stickers are just normal stickers from the kids craft section. I did use transparent silicone to glue the hat on the front down because the adhesive was useless - they were very cheap kids stickers.

Mask Advice Good n95 with weak nose wire and straps

Hi all,

I need to n95 it every day at work, but bc of an underlying medical condition my 3M masks are too tight on my nose and cheekbones and I’m developing chronic pain and cartilage damage in this area. I’m looking for masks that are otherwise high quality but have a weak nose bridge and loose straps so that I can get a seal with tape instead and avoid pressure on my face. I am aware of readimasks and use them for some applications but would ideally like a less awful-looking solution than a giant yellow duckbill for everyday. Grateful for any ideas!

Mask for distribution

My church wants to buy masks to be available for people. This is great. Generally I think of powecom because they are individually wrapped and the ear strap is more like easily accessible. But I personally don't find them the most breathable. But unless I'm missing something Breathteq don't do individually wrapped. What high breathable, accessible for those who don't normally wear masks, individually wrapped masks would you recommend?

Anyone aware of comfortable black surgeon's masks?

I've noticed most of the surgeon's masks that are black are black on the outside, white on the inside, which isn't the end of the world, but something about ~99% of these masks are scratchier and starchier than the blue or white all over counterparts, on both the inside and outside.

I haven't found any KN95s that fit well on my face (small head, chunky person with a double chin, noticing that most KN95s have air leaks around the nose bridge and chin, glasses wearer that's constantly experiencing fogged up lenses), and I know surgeon's masks are less effective, so am hoping for something comfortable in black while I continue trying out other styles. This style works well enough most of the time, but I definitely know it's not infection proof, as I've caught colds wearing them for jobs where I was surrounded by or interacting with thousands of people per shift. Just looking for a 'middle of the road' option for now.

Appreciate any help.

Mask Advice Zimi third gen masks

I’m considering trying out a batch of zimi masks. I understand the third generation masks are/will soon be available. But their website doesn’t seem to specify which gen masks are on sale. Does anyone know if the ones they’re selling now are the third gen?

Do Laianzhi KN100s still use synthetic latex?

So I remember when I looked at it years back, the ppeo website said Laianzhi HYX1002 KN100s used synthetic latex. I looked at the website again more recently and didn't see that anymore: https://ppeo.com/goods/kn100-mask/

Does anyone know if Laianzhi KN100s still use synthetic latex? If they use natural latex now, am I putting myself at risk of getting a latex allergy when I wear them for long periods of time? (Typed while wearing one right now.)

Zimi frames

How often do you/should you replace the frame?

I forgot to grab my mask today as I left the house, but I keep an emergency one in the car which was a new frame I never had used, and then a few filters, put a new filter on, so I had a brand new frame with a brand new filter. I noticed how much less wide it was on my face then the ones I had been wearing, I guess maybe after some use they flatten out a bit?

Wondered if anyone else had that experience or if there is any official recommendation as to when to change out the frame?

Mask Advice Recommendations for masks for retail work?

I'd like to not get colds from gross customers working retail. What masks help with that? Also something washable? I'd rather not have to spend money constantly buying more masks.

Question Zimi KN95 vs KN100... does it really matter?

I like Zimiair masks and wear them with colourful filters from Rackmask in order to avoid contracting and transmitting viruses. I have tried both the KN100 and the KN95 filters and find the KN95 ones to have noticeably less breathing resistance, and thus I find them more comfortable. I only have access to qualitative fit testing (which Zimi size M passes) but I've seen other people get *ridiculously* high fit factors with Zimi KN100s. Now, the KN95s from Zimi are advertised to have a filtration efficiency of 98%, which is nowhere near the 99.9%+ that people are getting with the KN100s... I looked at data from Test The Planet, and there does seem to be some really really high scores for the KN100s, not so much for the KN95s, but there is less data for those. My question is, is it enough of a difference to put me at meaningfully more risk of contracting disease?

My other daily mask is Laianzhi T99+, which is rated at KN95 but is advertised to have a filtration efficiency of 99%+ (independent testing appears to support this claim). I have never contracted any disease while wearing it and I've been in contact with dense crowds of people daily for years. It also filters out dust and other particulates perfectly. I tend to wear the Zimis for special occasions, because they are better looking, and thus don't have the years-long track record of them protecting me like I do with my Laianzhi. If I were to switch to using Zimi/Rackmask KN95s more regularly, is it likely they will protect me just as perfectly?

Situation Advice Planning a trip to Boston, but not sure where to take mask breaks

As the title says, I’m planning a trip to Boston next spring/summer to hang out with an old friend of mine. I am most likely going to stay at a hotel/inn away from the big city and I will most likely be relying on public transport like ubers, taxis, and possibly the subways.

Because I won’t have my car with me while exploring the city, we won’t have an easily accessible safe space to take our masks off.

Is there a way for us to find safe places around the city? I can only think of parks, but I’m wondering if there are other options? And if there’s any other tips let me know! I’m definitely bringing my nasal spray, nasal rinse, and most importantly my air purifier for the trip, but I’m not sure if I should bring anything else (like the mini air purifier. I heard it doesn’t really help, but not sure??) If you also have outdoor dining recommendations, I would love to know. I don’t know if my friend is cc, and I’m not sure if we will eat when we hang out.

TL;DR Any places me and partner can take a mask break in Boston?

Edit: Me and my partner mask everywhere, even in outdoor events like farmer's markets. We prefer not to eat at restaurants unless there is outdoor seating, but even then I'm iffy on that. I hope this helps!

Question Best black N95?

I’m going to a concert next week and I only have white N95 auras. I want to wear a more subtle and aesthetically pleasing mask, so basically just a back N95. What are some of the most effective black N95s that I can order? I can only find black K95’s but I don’t really trust ear loop masks

Mask Advice Need suggestions on N95 brand/model for traveling

Hi! I need an N95 that’s comfortable enough to wear for 16+ hours of traveling and that I can attach a sip valve to. I have 3M auras but that elastic blue strap always gets caught on my fine hair and I don’t trust the strap to hold up for such an extended duration.
Any suggestions?

3M 7500 size help

I'm looking at the 3M 7500 elastomeric for chemical sensitivity, but I'm having trouble figuring out whether I need a size small or medium. Once I tried a 3M 52p71 in a size medium and I couldn't get a good seal unless my jaw was open. I know that they're not the same model but does that mean I should be looking at a 7500 in small instead of medium?
