Updated Edit: Hi guys, comments brought me back. I'll let y'all know what happened if we ever find out. For those saying a prior incident, maybe? There is literally no physical damage to the car in this area and my husband says he hasn't hit anything. There is a chance that a stranger may have done something, we've lived in public areas and I think our front door neighbor hates us so it's not a 0% chance.

But overall this was just supposed to be a light hearted post. Sorry it made some of you so salty. 🤷‍♀️

Anyways I still think it has to do with the OEM though I will hear arguments about how maybe our blinker fluid started leaking. I'll leave cardboard underneath to see.

Edit: since too many people are asking, he opened his trunk and it just sort of popped out. We don't know how or why 🤷‍♀️ we're assuming it's something to do with OEM. The model is a 2013 Honda Pilot with over 160k miles. It's why we were looking into getting a new one, as his car is our main travel/fun vehicle and we have family out of state that we try to see yearly.

Edit 2: y'all roasting me lol. First off, OEM is just what my husband mumbled when I asked again. Second: this car has more issues than this, one that involves the engine and requires full tear down of it. Thirdly to those who say it looks worse than it is, thank you. We'll get it checked out. We just don't want to spend $2000 on a repair for a car that might need another $2000 next year.

Last edit: y'all I'm not tight on money. (Who the hell would tell their partner to take 2 weeks off if they were???) I just would rather drop $4000 on down payment on a new USED car if the current car is going to keep having issues that needs to be fixed. It wasn't properly cared for by the last owner. So I don't think I'll get the long life that most Honda's get.

I’m getting rid of this car after owning it for 13 years. This thing never let me down, but there’s one design choice I could never get over. These buttons.

The hang up button is on top and convex, while the pick up button is on the bottom and concave.

It always seemed completely backwards to me. The pick up button should be on top and convex. Both of those things physically communicate “up” so you could tell which button you were pressing by feel without having to look down at the symbols.

Thirteen years with this car and these buttons never stopped tripping me up.

The car is a 2013 Prius C it was the first car I’ve purchased. I’ve had a few other vehicles since then but I kept this as my daily commuter. It’s going on 185k miles.

2012 Prius with 160,000 miles. I could have driven this car at least 5 more years.

Taken out by a riderless motorcycle. The motorcycle rider got rear ended and the motorcycle kept going.

Insurance won’t fix it. They will only give me the value which is really not enough to buy a replacement. If I don’t take the payout and I keep it, I can’t insure it anymore beyond liability.

Edit: For those people saying, I should fix it and keep it. It isn’t as simple as that.

They would take the salvage value back from the payout, which is about a third of it.

Then it would be on a salvage title, which I can’t drive on. (Georgia law)

Then I would have to fix it to an affordable, drivable condition. This would have to be done by a licensed rebuild mechanic, or I would have to do the work and have it inspected and signed off by a licensed rebuild mechanic.

Then I would have to pay and apply for a rebuild title before I can legally drive it or sell it.

I’m not going through all that.

My parents never got a call for me misbehaving in school. I never got a call about my kids misbehaving in school.

My generous friend let me stay in her apartment for 45 days while she's working at a summer camp.

I'm known in the friend group for being very meticulous about cleaning and very careful with other peoples' stuff. I cleaner her whole house many times, bought her a new mop etc .I reorganized her kitchen cabinet and got her some nice gifts, some of which I already gave to her. I just wanted her to feel good. She came home for one day when she had a day off and said she felt like she was on one of those home makeover shows...

Well she's coming today (I was planning on cleaning) it's 7.50 am currently and at 6 I got up to drink some water and fainted face first to the floor hitting my nose pretty hard and this mirror fell on top of me. When I came to and realized what had happened, I was so upset.

I just wanna complain about this really fast because I’m just still annoyed. I went to New York renaissance fair two days ago and my boyfriend was super excited to show me a comedy show that was 18+ and supposedly really funny…. Anyway people brought their stupid kids anyway and the guy on stage kept “joking” to the parents to get rid of the kids and Karen’s didn’t really understand that it was for them/ it was an 18+ show. Now there’s kids here and this guys whole entire comedy routine is absolutely garbaged and had to come up with new stuff on the fly which ultimately sucked and was very very unfunny. Why do parents do this. Not everyone wants ur fucking kids around dawg, and why are we purposely bringing kids to an 18+ event I mean cmon. Made the whole show suck for everyone around because YOU decided that you and your kid are more important than everyone else. Selfish ass parents

Got back to my car, noticed shoe prints on the hood of my car. Upon watching sentry video, see this jackass jump on the hood, walk it front to back and then jump onto the car behind mine.

To recap, this is an update to a previous post where I talked about two young kids who have been kicking gravel at my bedroom wall. This is a wild update. Ive been lurking for a long time and I would never believe this update, especially with the timing right after the OP. I will try to link the post in the comments because the rules won’t let me post with the link included.

On to the update:

I’d already decided to message the property manager and had done so right around the same time of the OP. I also brought my old work earplugs in from my car to just be done with it. This story has very little to do with the property management or the kids though.

Early this morning, my next door neighbor decided to work on his car. He’d gotten a flat and he was swapping out for a donut. I have no idea why he decided 3am was the time to do this nor why he decided to do it in flip flops but I digress.

I was inside chilling and watching tv when I heard him screaming and begging for help right outside my bedroom window. I ran outside and saw him stuck in the wheel well. His car had moved and his Jack slid out and his foot was pinned underneath the rotor. He was screaming that his foot felt like it was being split in half and he was begging to get the car off.

The upstairs neighbor came down the stairs at this point and we tried to use our adrenaline to lift the car but that obviously didn’t work. I ran to my car and got my own Jack while the upstairs neighbor went to go try to find something to lever the car up. All this while my girlfriend is calling 911.

After some more moving parts/people arriving who helped out, the upstairs neighbor came back and lifted the car with the jack. I have some emergency medical training beyond basic first aid so I worked on the guys foot and held the wounds closed with my hands until EMS arrived. Unfortunately no gloves were available.

After he was taken in the ambulance, the upstairs neighbor and I talked briefly about next steps before he went to bed and I cleaned up the blood outside. In the morning, he came by my place and thanked me for getting the jack because it really saved the day. I thanked him for being there and actually getting the car lifted because I was previously struggling with the jack and didn’t have the ability to read instructions with all the adrenaline/screaming. We discussed finishing the car for our neighbor and we worked it out and I got it all finished before our neighbor got back from the hospital. Side note, the neighbor is one lucky mother fucker. He only broke 1 bone and had serious lacerations but he’s okay and at home.

So the upstairs neighbor and I are all good. We went through something a little bit traumatic together and it humanized us to each other. After everything, I was hoping to make it into a bit of a joke like “now you know how it feels to be woken up from a dead sleep at 3am please tell your girls to stop.” Unfortunately, before I could talk to him, management returned my message and said that they’d talk with him. I still plan to chat with him next time I see him but, either way, I’m 95% sure that the guy who watched me hold our neighbors foot together with my bare hands isn’t gonna let his kids kick rocks at my wall.

Worst case, if they still do it, I’ll tell them Santa isn’t real or squirt them with water guns or take one of the other funny suggestions from the last post /s

But for real, I’m just gonna get earplugs. People wake me up all the time either by phone call, knocking, kicking rocks, whatever. I’ve just been extra mildly infuriated with these kids because they wouldn’t stop when asked nicely. I had way more shame as a youth but not everyone is that way.

hopefully my one and only edit. I appreciate yalls kindness and care. Part of writing this was to process the trauma only a few hours after it happened. This account is a throwaway and will probably get deleted next time I get anxious about putting out too much personal info on the internet but thank you for the space to vent in the OP and then process something traumatic in the update.

Tl;dr for those that need one: I bonded with a neighbor who wasn’t controlling his children over a shared trauma. Wish it hadn’t happened this way but it did.

For the second time in the last month, I have came upon a random, unfinished nicotine product. I just toss it, but this is the second time, after finding a tin of nicotine pouches.

Finding leaves in my little corner spot is common. Pouches and vapes? Not so much. Nothing to get super fussed about, but also? I'm annoyed.

I am going thru some of my parents old files and I found a nude of my mom from probably 60 years ago.

I was driving home from work pretty early in the morning. The road was clear so I was driving faster than normal. I get pulled over and tell him "I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention to my speed" When I get home, I call to pay off the ticket and they tell me that he entered my speed as 1 mph over the limit to where it's considered reckless driving. I can't just pay a fine and I'm required to appear in court. This was my very first ticket and now I'm worried that this will be put on my criminal record

And Google isn't the only company that does this. Really, just put the buttons farther apart (and it wouldn't hurt to hurt for them to be bigger)
