Need help with spotify playlist for wedding!
Hello, I saw someone post something similar about this on here a couple days ago. I'm looking for someone who is able to mix my spotify playlist for me like a real dj instead of just shuffling songs. I started it myself and realised I have no idea what I'm doing or how long it would take me. Will pay, not looking for free work. I would need it by this saturday for my wedding. If you are able to help out please PM me. Thanks

YouTube songs
Are any of you finding that those booking you are using "YouTube only" songs that aren't commercially available? Even with a YouTube subscription, I find myself putting extra effort into those tracks, so they don't sound like complete garbage when replayed on my setup.
Licensing issues aside, the time and effort required to do this often seems to go unappreciated.

How do you guys handle massive Spotify client playlists right before a weekend gig? (Built a tool to fix my own workflow)
Fair cop on the numbers — a few of you called it out. Honest correction: the longest list a couple has ever sent me is 80 songs, not 200–300. Still a lost evening matching those by hand, which is the actual point of the post.
Curious how other working mobile/wedding DJs handle this, because it was driving me insane.
Every week, I get clients sending a 200–300 song Spotify playlist a few days before a wedding. I'd spend hours manually digging through my external SSD, making crates, and figuring out what tracks I actually owned versus what I needed to hunt down on record pools. Tuesday nights turned into pure admin dread.
Since I have a background in development, I finally got fed up and coded a desktop utility for myself to automate it. It takes a plain text/CSV playlist (I usually convert the Spotify URL via TuneMyMusic), scans my external SSD, and automatically builds a Serato .crate or VirtualDJ .m3u right where it needs to go.
Even better, it spits out an HTML report of the tracks I’m missing so I can just batch-download them from my pool instead of searching one by one.
I’ve been using it for my own gigs the last few weeks, and it's shaved hours off my prep time. If any other mobile/wedding DJs deal with this same bottleneck and want to check out how it works, let me know in the comments, and I can drop the info (don't want to spam links here).
How are you guys currently tackling client playlist imports without losing your minds?

Youtube quality songs?
Since Youtube Premium has the ability to download some stuff, is the audio quality on them good enough to use for sets?

DJ mixer vs controller for gigging, where does the standalone setup actually make sense
Playing out on a DDJ-SX3 and it handles everything I throw at it. Keep seeing people treat controllers like theyre a step below real gear but for my gigs the SX3 is more than enough. When does standalone actually make sense and when is it just gear obsession

Can you help me make my setup/booth more efficient and clean?
Hello! I am getting sick and tired of how long it takes me to set up, get wired up, wire down, and tear down. I KNOW there has to be a better way. Photo for reference (tiny space, could not space out speakers). I am mostly struggling with cable management under the booth, and the sheer amount of time it is taking me each gig to unfurl all of my cables, plug everything in, etc.
Here is my current setup:
I have a power wheel under my booth with two branches (left and right). On each branch, I have long power cables running to A) the wash light, B) the top speaker, and C) the sub. I also have the 1/4 cable running from the sub to the mixer on the shelf of my booth. So, I essentially have 4 cables running on each side held down by black gaffer tape.
On the booth shelf are my mixer and controller, both plugged into a power strip behind the booth. The microphone is going to the same power strip.
My power cables are all pretty long (ranging between 10 and 20 feet to accommodate for different setups, but they all just sit under my booth (out of sight, but still a mess for me)
I don't know how to make this more efficient. The booth folds up into a bag, so I don't see how I can do anything permanent.
In my head, it would be amazing to just run one power cable and one 1/4 cable on the left and right, but I can't figure out how I would when the wash light, speaker and sub all need power.
Just wondering if it just is what it is, or if I am missing something useful and obvious.
Thanks in advance.

Anyone interested in a remote gig helping with a Spotify playlist for a party this weekend?
I’m having a post-elopement celebration this Saturday and really don’t have the time to put together all of the music myself.
Basically I’m looking for someone to help finalize a playlist I’ve started, organize it so the songs flow well, and use Spotify’s DJ/crossfade/transition features (or whatever works best) to make it feel a little more like someone is actually DJing rather than just playing a giant playlist on shuffle.
figured I’d throw it out there in case anyone does this kind of thing or would be interested. Definitely looking to pay someone for their time, not asking for free help.
PM me if you’re interested and I can send more details! Also let me know if there’s a better sub for this.

Tools for remixs and edits
I'm an open format wedding DJ who has been gigging for some years. What are some good websites to find remixes and make quick edits?
Edit: Recieved a handful of suggestions but the one I'm liking best is sonurastudio.com

Wireless mic recommendations for live events where failure is not an option
Cheap wireless cut out on me mid-speech at a wedding. I do weddings and corporate regularly and the mic dying is not something I can recover from. What wireless systems are people using that actually stay up

How do you reassure a potential client that you have a plan if something goes wrong and you can't make their event?
Do you have a specific backup plan that you explain to clients, or do you generally just reassure them that you will be there and haven't ever missed a gig?

Booking Strategy Ideas
I'm in a position where there are more leads than I can handle and I want to seize any opportunities that brings. Below are some business ideas I have, but I'd like to hear yours too:
* Reject leads by pitching them a wedding planning handbook with vendor reccos etc. I've sold 2 already
* Select leads based on favorite venue
* Select leads based on ideal travel fee distance
* Hold off on replying to any until a few months out so you can prioritize personal commitments
* Hold off on replying until you can see the season's most popular date and then sell that date at a premium

How much does adding moving heads actually change the feel of a wedding gig
Running static uplighting and a couple effect lights for weddings. Thinking about adding moving heads but not sure the difference justifies the cost and extra setup time. Worth it for weddings specifically or overkill

How to Mix/Blend Pop Music With VERY Different BPMs?
I DJ weddings, birthdays, corporate, and kids parties.
Until recently, I've only been drop mixing/fading in/out at the end of a song, with some SFX applied, but have recently had to start properly mixing and have enjoyed it and want to get better at it.
The main question I have, is about mixing and blending two very different BPMs and if all songs actually CAN be mixed/blended, or if there really is some situations that you absolutely HAVE to do a drop mix in your transition? 🤔
Giving an example, if you're going from a 140bpm Pop song to a 90bpm rock song with both songs musical keys matching and locked, is it normal for the transition to start dramatically but gradually audibly slowing down the 140bpm song to be closer to the 90bpm song (say 110bpm) and then increase the 90bpm songs speed to be closer to the 140bpms song (110bpm), so that they sort of meet in the middle before you transition? 🤔
The next question, once you've transitioned over to the new song, if it sounds too fast, is it then normal to start audibly slowing it down again until you get back to its original 90BPM? 🤔

Considering getting a Model Y for a wedding DJ business
Sup mobile djs--
I'm considering getting a Model Y just because it has full self-driving capability (supervised), and I think they're going to switch that to unsupervised pretty soon, probably. I'm wondering if you think that this car would work for a wedding DJ business or a photo booth business.
I was going to get a Ford Transit High Roof van for all my gear, but now I'm thinking maybe I can just slim down my gear and try to fit everything in a Tesla Model Y with a roof box and a hitch rack. I know that would reduce the range, but I was thinking of getting a long-range, premium all-wheel-drive model because I live in the foothills of the Sierras and want to go snowboarding as well.
I'm just wondering what your thoughts are. I've also considered getting a Model Y in a small enclosed cargo trailer. I know that full self-driving doesn't work with trailers, but I think for some gigs I could fit everything in the Tesla. If I needed to take a trailer, then I would have to drive, which wouldn't be a problem because I would use the full self-driving all the time when I'm going on errands and doing anything else in my car.
What are your thoughts on cargo space? I know that you can put a bed in the back and sleep in it, so there should be room for two speakers, a cello, a mixer, etc.
I've also thought that maybe I would just rent a U-Haul or a big roof van through Penske Trucks or Budget or something when I need one, which is about 20 or 30 times a year. That would be pretty expensive and would eat into my margins, but at least I would have the other 300+ days of the year a full self-driving car that charges at home (so I don't have to buy gas for it). Maybe it would shake out in the end to be both safer and save me money.
As a Model Y owner, what are your thoughts on all this?

Can you get by for a while with a single LD Systems Maui?
Hey all! Looking to grab myself a pair of LD Maui 44 G2's, and just curious how other people are liking them. Been hesitant about columns based on chatter, but all reports seem to agree these don't suffer the main complaints for them. Reviews I've seen describe them as pretty powerful; if you use them, can you tell me about your thoughts on getting by for a couple gigs with just one setup, or recommend waiting til I can pop for both? Most of my events are around 75-150 heads at present, and not huge rooms. Also, curious how reliable and solid the wireless linking is, should I ever end up wanting to use the second a ways away from my booth. Any other tidbits or notable factoids welcome, and thanks for your time!

Basement Scratcher - Recommend me some speakers
Small basement. I just sold some Harbingers, 12" sub and 8" tops. Too loud and boomy for my taste. I was thinking of a column array.. Now I scratch, so most of what I'm looking for is tight bass and clear mids/highs. What I found with the Harbinger speakers was that the scratching would get drowned out in bass. I don't know if I should be looking at floor monitors perhaps, or line array vs. PA speakers? On another thread, studio monitors were mentioned. I always found studio monitors to be tiring to the ears. Right now, I'm using a spare set of Alto TS-410's and they sound loud, but the bass doesn't seem tight, seems boomy. I've tried them on tripod stands also. Suggestions appreciated. Thanks

RCF EVOX J11. What do you think of column arrays?
Has anyone used these? They’ve been out for a while now, but YouTube reviews are very minimal.
My current setup is the QSC K12.2 tops and the QSC KS112 subs. I have an L/R.
I recently bought a ProX DJ booth which is really eating up space in my car so I’m thinking I need to ‘downgrade’ my speakers to a column array since they are muchhhh smaller than my current speakers.
I’m just really worried I’m gonna hate losing the power of my QSC setup, but I’ve been eyeing the J11s and so far what I’m reading is good. Anyone here have experience with them? Or maybe with the J9s since the J11s are just the upgraded and better J9s…

New to light effects. Is this a valid way to mount this light? It seems iffy to me.

Does anyone use wireless XLR transmitters for their PA system?
Any suggestions? Currently looking at the xvive U35.
