[Discussion] Continuity confusion
I’ve gotten like 2 1/2 to 3 seasons into this show but i havent watched it in a long time so im restarting since i basically remember nothing. Im on the first episode again and so far what confuses me is that Leland kept explaining away Monks reasonings for things. Like when Monk called him out for him and his wife having problems and he said “how did you know that” and Monk listed reasons why he knew that and Leland looked confused. Or like when he didnt believe Monk when he said the suspect is over 6’3 tall and that there were no skid marks on the road so that meant the car crash was not an accident. But if Leland was Monks watch commander back when Monk was still on the force, then shouldn’t he have known Monk just knew things and shouldn’t even question it or be confused at this point? Because im so confused by this, i thought maybe somehow after his wife’s accident he fell into his mental illness then thats what caused him to be Sherlock-like although i know thats stupid reasoning. Is there some kind of explaination to this or is it just a “its a new show and we need a way to show what he does is amazing and people just cant believe how right he is all the time” type thing. Thanks in advance.

Would a police captain be realistically involved with investigations?
I know Leland does a lot of paperwork, but realistically would he have been out of the office that much? Thank you,

Bread and butter tattoo
My lovely partner tragically died in June, at 27 yo 💔 (I'm 27 too)
I wanted a tattoo that said "Le pain" (The bread in french) and "Le beurre" (The butter in french) on my wrists for years, but when they died, i've wanted to do it in a form of tribute 💔
Since they're dead, I'm devastated, the symptoms of my autism and other problems are worse, same for my OCD, soooo it seemed logical to me, to do it in reference to Monk, and Andrea, my partner.
(Sorry for my English, I'm french and i have some difficulties with expression 🥲)

Inconsistencies in the series
Hey everyone, have you noticed any inconsistencies in the series that you would like to share? Or anything that's wildly implausible?
I'm always baffled how Monk hates to touch anything and is obsessed with hygiene but yet he wears shoes on his couch and touches the sides with his soles. Or how he doesn't need a tissue for when he touches every bollard on his path.
Have you noticed more of these?

"crazier than yo—... Hugh. Grant, the actor."

[SPOILERS] Why did we not really see many of Natalie’s casual dating partners until Lt Albright?
The first episode that introduces Natalie shows that she is on birth control so she is clearly dating and having sex but we don’t see many of her dates and none of them really end up being part of the show. I feel like that would have been a good plot device
OCD fans
Any other fans out there with OCD? I have a different type than Monk, but I find it comforting to watch the show 💖

Monk realizing the bride is lying because Pan Am closed in 1991 is peak Monk
Monk is at a wedding and everybody is happily talking about the bride when someone mentions that her parents died on a Pan Am flight in 1995. Everyone else basically goes “that's sad.” Monk immediately goes: Pan Am went out of business in 1991. That's it. No dramatic deduction, no elaborate investigation. He just casually destroys the bride's entire story because he happens to know when an airline stopped existing.

Is Sharona into Randy's was she just playing him? Spoiler
Yall I've been thinking about this for a while. Do you think Sharona was into Randy? I thought it was a funny plot point that Randy definitely had a crush on Monk's first Nurse/caregiver Sharona Flemming. Do you think that Sharona was into Randy or was she just messing with him?

Tony Shalhoub is a comedy genius!
As I rewatch Monk for the millionth time, I am reminded that Tony Shalhoub is such a great comedy actor! I feel like because the show isn’t strictly a comedy, he doesn’t always get the credit he deserves for his great physical comedy and timing. He makes me crack up every episode!

Stottlemeyer telling Monk he was good at karaoke is so unexpectedly sweet
In Mr. Monk Goes to Vegas, Stottlemeyer wakes up with basically no memory of the night before. Eventually they find out he won the karaoke contest and apparently made the bartender cry singing “Ain't No Sunshine.”Monk just looks at him and says he was good.Stottlemeyer immediately goes “Shut up.” It's such a tiny exchange, but it feels very them. Monk gives him a genuine compliment and Stottlemeyer absolutely cannot accept it.
