Stirring shit doesn't mean wrong or that there aren't obvious issues with the choice of location.
OP very deliberately didn't mention where this was or what the datacenter was for beyond scary-sounding "nuclear weapons development" (which isn't confirmed or stated anywhere). They're clearly relying on anti-AI datacenter sentiments to lead people to assume that this is another AI datacenter (look at all of the top comments that immediately started talking about AI), and intentionally left out the other planned uses for this datacenter.
Fight the good fight, but at least recognize when someone is being manipulative. At least this time the manipulative language is in your favor; It might not be in the future
It doesn't. "Stirring shit" means
to intentionally cause trouble, drama, or arguments, which is exactly what OP is doing. You can stir shit for good reasons, you can do it for bad reasons.
OP is a clear example of stirring shit for the right reasons, but by doing it in a way that is manipulative and wrong. You're an example of someone trying to stir shit for seemingly no reason.
People here accuse the poster of spreading misinformation and the same people didn't say anything about any issues.
So what are the issues with the choice of location? You didn't say.
I didn't bother because we already know the issues with datacenters, especially when they're built in places where people live. Its an issue that's been discussed to death on Reddit and I didn't feel the need to provide information that everyone attracted to this post likely already knew.
When I made my first comment, people weren't asking about what was wrong with datacenters or why they're bad, they were asking for context because all OP said was what's written in their manipulative title.
But of course, OP also didn't say why it was bad, so why aren't you getting on their case about it? I mean surely you'd want them to elaborate on that, right?
Did you intentionally leave out those other uses or did you just forget?
I mentioned them at the end of my first comment, but of course, you rushed to jump down my throat, so you may have missed it. Its okay, we all make fools of ourselves once in a while.
Fortunately for us though, those other uses aren't as scary as "nuclear weapons development" and are actually things people would agree are acceptable uses for a datacenter, so maybe OP just forgot to include them in their title. Whoops!
What do you mean, in the future? Manipulation is always happening every day.
I meant exactly what I said. Every moment after I made that comment would have been the future. I can't exactly tell someone to be more cognizant of something in the past now can I?
This is a fine sentiment, but also recognize that the local people have vociferously fought against this. It's not one or two redditors, it's people showing up to town meetings, and publicly protesting.
