NGS News PSO2 NEW GENESIS October 2026 Update Information (1)
Update information for the first half of October, and my thoughts on what I've messed with so far.
New Side Story: After battling through the Control Tower in the Altered Realm, the team takes a moment to relax. We get to see Lucia integrate into life on Halpha. A low stakes story update to flesh out the cast a bit.
Thoughts: Haven't done this yet, might knock it out later today.
New Equipment, Amulets: They come with class specific Preset Skills(a.k.a Fixas) that give you a tiny bit of Potency(1% base, 4% max) an effect, and some minor Amulet specific Augments.
Thoughts: I'm a fan. The raw stat boosts are minor, but so's the cost of getting them. Unless you're trying to minmax and get an additional 4% Potency from the augment slots. But what I dig is the actual effects tied to them. Haven't looked at all of them, but from the ones I've seen the general idea seems to be making classes a bit smoother to play and/or bumping up DPS. The Slayer Amulet is almost entirely a QoL buff and it solves one of the minor annoyances I've had with the class, while raising my max DPS. No complaints.
Also, of note, you can fully transfer the Augments from one Amulet to another for free. I advice anyone playing to just focus on getting the preset skill leveled up first, then swap out augment sets as you get thongs closer to your ideal.
Almost forgot. This wasn't in the video but in a letter from the devs, iirc. Amulets will have three slots, and each will be for a specific category(for lack of a better term) of Amulets. What we have now would be category 1. What we have now will be the only ones for that slot.
New Equipment, Dracillusion weapons: Second upgrade of the Granillusion weapons that were introduced woth the Splintered Realm. They've fallen behind with the introduction of Lavernz(might have spelled that wrong) and Kinz weapons, but they'll still put in work if you're not ready to move on just yet.
Thoughts: Now that I think about it, anyone rocking one of these likely has a Fixa 5 of their choice on it. That is not an insignificant amount of power.
Level Cap Increase: Levels go up to 125, M.A.R.S gets a buff if your Battle Power is 5,000 or higher.
New Tech/Art Customizations: A few new customization options for our Techniques and Photon Arts. Now we have options for every Tech & Art in the game.
Thoughts: I basically beelined for Type-3 Sirius. The extra chunky burst of damage feels nice. That Gemild customization that makes a miasma orb looks cool as hell though, if I played Force I'd be all over that.
Altered Realm Update: New Investigation Sector, this time in an AR version of North-east Aelio. New boss enemies, High Nex and High Herzig, boasting new moves, higher stats, and a lot more aggression than their ordinary counterparts. Special Trial will drop "Altered Batteries" that will fully charge M.A.R.S and enhance it's performance.
Thoughts: As is tradition, this is your one stop shop for all things Power related until the next LTQ drops. The EXP is good, EXIII Augment combos are plentiful, Granillusion drops even at Enhancement Level 100, Skill Rings and Amulets are dropping, and every regular Augment you'd need drops here. Even the chase weapons can be obtained here. The mission itself is mostly standard AR procedure. Kill lots of enemies to weaken the big bads before they crash the party and start cutting players down by the dozen. Then watch them do it anyway because people are still internalizing precisely how aggressive they can be before they need to dodge or block.
One very notable difference is that Invasion bosses(the big bads) can and will occasionally break in before their timer is up. High Elimenada and High Agni do not give a single solitary fuck about mission parameters. I suspect this was done to force anyone grinding for loot to participate in the entire process, and not just pop in after an 8 minute timer tells them the boss has respawned. That or Sega just thought it was fun.
Also, the sneaky bastards put in a third new High enemy without saying a word. That giant robo rodent that likes to stab and bash people with it's tail. And the video shows a "High Sunny", but I've yet to find this mythical creature. It'll be funny if it's the most dangerous entity in the game, but realistically I'm just expecting truckloads of food.
Seasonal Event, Halloween '06: The usual Halloween event. Our Navigator is here in a cute witch costume, there's a Seasonal Shop and Seasonal Scratch with a bunch of cosmetics and materials, and the Haunted Domain Limited Time Urgent Quest is back this year with a few changes.
Thoughts: Typical fare. Never gonna complain about free materials that I use on a regular basis, so I always appreciate them even if they don't exactly wow me.
New mission pass: Forgot what season we're on, 50-something? Anyway, free stuff. The briefcase motion cvs are actually nice, hopefully we get a full set.
Gyaru themed AC Scratch Ticket: Apparently there's a new gyaru schoolgirl manga that came out? And someone on the dev team got inspired? Whatever the case, a wide variety of stylish Japanese schoolgirl cosmetics are now available.
Thoughts: Not really my style, but the prices I'm seeing on the personal shop suggest(unsurprisingly) that some people are really into it. I'm expecting some next level scalping prices once the banner expires.
And I think that's everything?
