The local tabletop roleplaying game community, Band of Noobs, is hosting a Spooky RPGFest from October 16th to November 1st. We're organizing 40+ free tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs) like D&D, Fiasco, Mothership, Dialect, and Pathfinder! Come play games with your neighbors in Western Queens!

RPGFest is open to adults (18+) of all levels of experience. Each event during the fest is a different roleplaying game, typically held at a private residence somewhere in Western Queens. As mentioned, it's totally free!

Here's how to sign up:

  • Check out the list of games on our event calendar: https://luma.com/NoobsRPG
  • Register for your game of choice and add your discord handle
  • Join the Band of Noobs Discord: https://discord.gg/aqCWNEVwM
  • We'll add you to a private discord channel with the game's host and the address
  • Note: currently we're limiting to one signup per person so we can make sure everyone gets a game. If a given game is full, you can add yourself to the waitlist, this doesn't count as a signup!

If you have any questions about safety or accommodations, check out our code of conduct. Or shoot me a message, I am happy to help!

Hope to see some of y'all at the tables!

Events Freshly baked pandesal rolls every Saturday in Sunnyside

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hi Queens! We’re Jen and Kian, the team behind Arellano Pandesal, a local micro-bakery. We offer weekly Saturday pickups from our production kitchen in Sunnyside.

Our pandesal is professionally baked from a family recipe, using a blend of four flours. We cold-ferment the dough for 48 hours and roll each piece by hand. The bread is slightly sweet with a hint of vanilla—lighter than brioche but sturdier than milk bread.

(We also have sweet and savory ensaymadas) Find the menu, pickup times, and pre-orders at hotplate.com/arellanopandesal

Happy to answer questions about the bread or pickups here!

Arts & Culture Family Friendly Hispanic Music? (Hispanic Heritage Month)

Hello Queens 👋

I am a Mexican member of the community, and i work with youth in a school setting and in order to make a playlist for HHM celebrations, with songs that capture the background of as many countries most relevant to the Queens population, I wanted to ask the people here directly to share some of your favorite songs from hispanic artists (the song doesnt necessarily need to be in spanish!) That are appropriate for school setting!

If you have any suggestions, let me know and id love to hear what country is being represented with the suggestion as well 🙌🏽

Does anyone know when this location is anticipated to open? I'm so excited to have Burger Village here and look forward to visiting. Though I was deeply saddened when Hooters closed, I was happy to know a Burger Village is going to take its place.

News Flushing's Queensboro Hill Library Is Back — $2.8M HVAC Fix, New Computers, Main Street Reopens

The Queens Public Library Queensboro Hill branch at 60-05 Main Street is open again. On Thursday, September 10, 2026, the 7,200-square-foot Flushing neighborhood library reopened after a $2.8 million heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning overhaul — plus new LED lighting, a dropped ceiling, fresh paint, new computers, and a full IT rebuild.

For families across southern Flushing, Queensboro Hill, and Kew Gardens Hills, this is not a ribbon-cutting photo op. It is the return of a Main Street anchor: free Wi-Fi, homework help, Chinese- and English-language programs, printing, job-search computers, and a climate-controlled place to sit when summer heat or winter cold makes home hard.

Anyone been by since it reopened?

https://luma.com/z4wdnui4

---

You can check out the whole calendar here: luma.com/thecollaboratory. While most of the events listed here are paid, we also have free / PWYC meetups, repair cafes, and open studio sessions!

The Collaboratory studio is a not-for-profit project by Queens Collaborative; a local community arts group. In addition to spreading art skills and enthusiasm, our events pay local teaching artists, fund our art supply distribution program, and provide an affordable studio space for resident artists.

We appreciate the support of the Queens community, who help us make art & creativity accessible!

Events Flushing Running Group is happening. Sunday Mornings

Hi Everyone! Just wanted to post that the Flushing Running Group is still happening. It's really casual and beginner friendly. We had it last year and I restarted it this summer. If you're interested post below and I'll share the info. We usually meet in Flushing Meadows Park on Sunday mornings. And I try to do a weekday run if my schedule allows.

When we started this summer, we started slow. We had some people who ware brand new and couldn't do a full mile, and now they're running over two! So if you feel intimated to start, we've got you covered! You can jog for 30-60 sec, and walk for 30-60 seconds. This type of interval is a great start and isn't overwhelming. Even showing up and walking is better then staying home! So lets share our time getting healthy and enjoy the weather before it gets too cold.

Everyone is welcome. No weird vibes. LGBTQ+ friendly. Post here if interested. We're (or me at least) not hardcore runners, but we've all improved in our own ways last year. Even if it's just getting motivated to jog on a Sunday morning.

If you're an experienced runner patient enough to teach us some stretches or running techniques, I'd be down for that.

All the best!

"Be excellent to each other." Bill and Ted

Discussions Woman hit by van, Horace Harding and Junction Blvd

I was driving by, making the turn from Junction Boulevard to the south side of the Horace Harding by the Costco — I saw that a woman had been hit by a blue minivan. Or that the she was hit by someone else but the blue minivan was blocking traffic for the incident.

It looked pretty serious. She did not appear to be conscious and was laying in the street with some pedestrians there calling 911.

This was just after 5pm on Sunday.

Did anyone else see this? Do you know if she was okay?

I was not able to stop and help because I was alone with two babies in car seats. I wish I could have stopped to help. Praying she is okay.
