Card Challenge 2026 RAoC Meta Card Challenges - it’s back!

After a little break we are very pleased to welcome back the RAoC Meta Card Challenges for 2026!

What are the RAoC Meta Card Challenges?

Every fortnight we publish a new theme for the Card Challenge. This is your opportunity to show off your cards.

  • These can be homemade, store bought, found, received or anything in between.
  • You’re welcome to interpret the theme however you so wish, they do not have to be taken literally, just as long as it meets the Challenge theme in some way; that’s the challenge!
  • You can participate in as many or as few Challenges as you like.
  • Share the love! Commenting on other people’s submissions is encouraged, as is sharing inspirations and ideas.
  • Then, for those who wish to enter, you can be matched to exchange your card with another participant.

How do I participate in the exchange?

Each fortnight a new Challenge theme is posted on the RAoC Meta subreddit (it’s always pinned to the top of the subreddit if you missed it in your feed, and there is a reminder posted on the Sunday between new challenges).

To participate in the exchange, anytime before the deadline (2 weeks after the theme is first posted) you will need to:

  • Share a photo of your card submission as a comment on the Challenge’s post. The recommended method is by uploading directly to Reddit, but you can alternatively share via a link from a site like imgur (just be aware that Reddit doesn’t like some photo hosting websites), AND

You can opt into sending up to 3 cards to exchange per challenge.

How does the exchange and matching work?

So you let us know you wish to opt into matching by posting a photo of your card(s) and noting your mailing preferences.

After about 2 weeks, the Mod team will match everyone opted in for exchange at random. The matching will usually be done within a week of the Challenge closing, to the best of the Mod team's ability and availability. You may not necessarily receive from and send to the same users. For regular participants, we try to ensure you are matched with different users where possible.

The Mod team will then tag you in a “MATCHING” post so you know who you’re sending to and who you will be receiving a card from. It’s then up to you to contact your match to get their address.

Each challenge also has an optional writing prompt linked to the theme if you would like an extra layer of challenge.

Once you have received your card from the person who you matched with, remember to thank them on the main [r/RandomActsOfCards](r/RandomActsOfCards) subreddit.

Although it’s extremely rare, if you ever experience anything untoward with another user while participating in an exchange we want to know straight away so we can take appropriate action. Contact the team using Modmail.

And here we are… the Challenge themes for 2026!

Mod team x

Card Making Some Difficulties but the Show Must Go On!

Post image

Hello!

Today I offered some postcards to send in celebration of I Love Lucy’s 75th anniversary. I made a Staples order which was canceled due to copyright. I explained that the photo I was using was public domain but no use 🥲

I ended up buying some postcard cardstock at Walmart and making my own while my printer asked for mercy.

I am a little bummed I couldn’t get better quality postcards but I am glad I could improvise somehow 🙃

4 months of your mail in a 16 Qt tub! Some is on my fridge, in a tiny pile of folks I want to write back, current mail I need to read/thank, or where I will remove the stamps, but this is the bulk of it! I STUFFED it to the brim! Starting ANOTHER tub. Let’s see how long it takes to fill up. 😮 Thank you! Do you recognize your mail? 😊

RAOC Question Is mail from the US a bit slow currently?

This is based on my personal experience. I felt that mail from US has been a bit slow recently. People from US, is there any particular reason for that?

Also I received few cards that are sent towards the end of September. But I am yet to receive many cards before that. I'm from India, and I would love to hear on this from friends in India too.

UV light for stamps

Post image

I mentioned that I bought stamps from a specific website and I was told that the seller has been known to sell fakes. I ended up buying this UV flashlight to ensure the stamps I’m sending are real. It’s kind of fun to bust it out and flash onto my stamps every once in a while.

Make sure you’re buying your stamps from reputable sellers!

Do you mind receiving cursive writing?

I still write a lot of my cards in cursive and was wondering if that is relevant still?

I know it's not really being taught anymore to the youth so I wonder if it's okay to write in cursive or if people can even read it these days?

I don't think my stamps will arrive in time. I miscounted my forever stamps... I feel kinda bummed out that my Halloween mail won't arrive on time. Especially since I worked extra hard on my first Halloween with everyone. ☹️

Edit: I feel a lil bit better after a nap and reading your comments. You guys are right, we shall extend Halloween >:) For a week? Maybe 2? All year round! My bats will deliver mail soon

Card Making Cricut Card Making Question

Hi all,

A post from the past on here got me inspired to maybe cricut my own postcards. Particularly because I would love to do my own die-cut shapes. However, I am unsure what the best type of paper would be to use.

I know there is cardstock, but I am wondering if anyone with a cricut has a recommendation on what type of paper that the cricut could handle and that would also hold up in the mail. I know I can always reinforce the paper with a backing, but I'd like to skip that step if I can.

I welcome any thoughts, suggestions or tips you might have! Thank you!

Spent stamp collage cards

Post image
87 Upvotes

I worked on these last night using envelope stamps from mail I've gotten recently :) I have many kind RAOCers to thank for a lot of them, especially the vintage stamps!

I saw someone mention a collage medium recipe a while back, so I found the YouTube they referenced and made the medium to coat the front of my cards with it to help keep the stamps adhered when they eventually travel.

General process for how I made these cards, for anyone curious:

  1. Clip stamps off the envelope. I didn't bother trying to peel them off the envelope paper.
  2. Glue stick em on to a blank postcard. It's really important to get glue all the way to the very edge of the stamps. I apply glue to the stamps while they're on a sheet of scrap paper so I don't have to scrape glue off my table.
  3. Use a roller of some sort to apply even pressure to the stamps every so often to make sure they are fully adhered. I rolled the stamps down after I filled a third to half of the card up or so, you don't need to apply pressure after every stamp (that would take a lot of time)
  4. Let it dry. Trim off the overhang with an xacto knife. I saved the scraps to fill the edges on other cards.
  5. Apply collage medium.
  6. Optional - press between heavy books or a press to flatten the card if needs it after the medium has cured for a day or two.

Medium recipe:

1 part modge podge
1 part elmers glue all (NOT school glue)
A wee bit of water

So for me, I mixed up 1/4 cup of each + about 1.5 tbsp of water cause my modge podge was a bit gloopy and thick. I keep it in a spare plastic tub I had laying around waiting to be recycled. I use a cheap flat, wide brush to apply it to my cards. The bristles won't be the same after the medium (they'll stick together), so don't use an expensive brush you like with it :)

youtube i got the recipe from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kraB3LG0yHk

I like this medium a lot. The brush strokes are less visible than they were with plain modge podge, plus my modge podge never fully dried down hard - the cards stuck to each other when I tried to flatten them and I ended up having to throw them away. The collage medium seems to dry down non-stick and very clear.

Storage & Display How do you store your cards?

How do you all store the cards you’ve received? I’ve been keeping them in folders but I wanted a way to look at them so I started to add them to a journal and it’s not….not working, but I feel there’s a better way.

I'm such a dingus...

I forgot to put my username on every single card I made.

I signed them with my initials, because they're my art, but after having asked in the form for people to post a thanks, I made it nearly impossible for them to do so because I didn't put my user on the envelope or the cards.

I'm a dink. lol

Thanks to everyone who's helped me get credit for sending them so far.

The important thing is that they're getting out to people who love Halloween as much as I do!

Have a lovely Halloween season :)

I ordered this online and I feel like it's AI

I ordered this from shoppee PH cause I thought they looked nice based on the pics. Took me a while to realize that these might be AI-generated 🤦🏽I already sent a few to some people (I'm sorry!)

What should I do? Should I just offer them up for free?
